If you rub ipad while procreate is on, then a genie appears and grant 3 wishes... Why these settings are so arcane and secretive? Normally, apps have same options Accessible from shortcuts, menu or gestures. But procreate keeps settings exclusive for gestures so normally we have to search Internet to solve most mundane things. Insane
I THINK that feature was made so you could hide photos of yourself you used as reference (like if you posed for your own reference or you're doing a self portrait, etc.) or if you used nude models as reference but can't post someone naked so being able to private the reference photo allows you to still be able to post the speedpaint without worry. BUT my issue is people using that feature to hide that they trace all their stuff and act like they aren't by showing the speedpaint as "proof".
@@FelonDog indeed, my feelings are the same. As an artist with aphantasia I have often relied on tracing reference images to make my illustrations. I have always felt guilty about this / had feelings of imposter syndrome surrounding it - even tho I know it’s an age old common practice that all the great masters used from the moment they were able to sort out how. I remember one college crit where I was receiving so many praises for my illos that I felt the need to say “well, I mean, I did trace the image for reference”, thinking I’d spilled the beans and they’d all rescind their compliments. But of course not - instead the chorus all chimed “yeah, so?” and lovingly reminded me how common a practice that is and how much skill it takes to be able to reduce and render a photo into a line drawing. I didn’t realize that procreate had this feature - I’ve been a serious user for 5 or 6 years now - and while I agree with your points about why they probably made it and how it might be useful, I’m so disheartened to think that people are using it to keep alive this sad habit of hiding the common practice of tracing.

What are the best ipad brands for a fashion designer focused on illustration and design, and which specific models would you recommend 2024?
Thank you so much for sharing these features. I have a question. Do you recommend using a screen protector film on the iPad?
not to sound like a bot but wow this is awesome

Are we hiding the fact that we use references still?
