    it was once described to me similarly to “behind the back” pass of a soccer ball & that really helped me learn popping into back tails

      @@mylast949search for “Cristiano Ronaldo chop”. you approach the ledge at an angle and do a regular but boned ollie, once it’s boned in the air you will do a late motion (almost like you re trying to make a 4 with your legs/the Ronaldo chop) with your back foot so that the board will turn in bs tail position and lock itself in the ledge. Think about slamming the tail late on the ledge. First do a ollie and only then once up in the air you do this late slamming of the tail into the ledge. Trust me. The word “late” is the secret to this trick. It’s a trick in two parts: first you ollie and only then you turn in the air. Do not try already turning as you ollie. It looks like one fluid motion on videos but from the skaters perspective it’s a two part trick. Good luck.

    Starting to get more consistent at these thanks to this tip! The foot position helps as well as ollieing then turning, also looking at your front foot when you’re sliding to fakie

    Wishing you a speedy recovery from your injury (if it's still ongoing...)
    Again...another great trick tip video! It's a scary trick cause you jump in almost blindly, but one of the best looking ones for sure! Unfortunately I can only tap them 😔
    The different foot positioning might help.

    I'm 42, been skating for 28 years, and I never understood how to properly slide a bsts. Just tried again yesterday, my board just slipped really quickly, I fell on my shoulder and ended up at the hospital ahah (all good). I guess my question is... how do you learn to balance this trick ?? seems impossible to me. cheers from France, nice trick tips keep it going

    • @ConnorMcSkaten
      @ConnorMcSkaten  Рік тому +1

      Oh no! Hope you heal up quick! Honestly that still happens to me every once in a while. But basically start off with a ledge that is barely waxed or not waxed at all to get used to the motion. Then once you try on a waxed ledge, start off with trying to land on the ledge with all the weight in your heel and adjust as needed. It definitely takes some time to get used to!

      @ConnorMcSkaten  8 місяців тому

      @@joshb9657 You at least want to have your weight on top of the ledge and almost all of my weight is on the ball of my foot. If you can have your weight over the ledge so if you fall, you land on top of the ledge, it helps with longer slides.

      @@ConnorMcSkaten was trying them again today but my heel is constantly landing on the ledge, r u twisting hips only or whole body ?

    • @ConnorMcSkaten
      @ConnorMcSkaten  8 місяців тому

      @@joshb9657 to start it is definitely easier to twist your whole body and prepare to go to fakie. This will get your comfortable landing in the slide and sliding. Once you have that down you can work on keeping your upper body straight to go out to regular. Hope that helps!

    Dude i can get my tail on the ledge every time but my front foot just flies off forward off of the board. it almost looks like when you were showing the approach examples and hopping off your board. I cannot for the life of me sit on the board and slide it once im locked in.

    • @ConnorMcSkaten
      @ConnorMcSkaten  Рік тому

      Are you trying on a waxed or not waxed ledge? Sometimes when you’re just practicing getting in your foot will just come off because you stick on the ledge. It could also be that you’re not fully committing, which is understandable because it’s a scary one to try!

      My shoulders don't stay parallel to the ledge they're perpendicular and once I'm sliding I look over my shoulder. Your way sounds like you've never done back tails before. I've been doing them since 2003.
