Tom I don’t know if you will see this but the fact that a skater of your caliber takes the time to make videos like this is amazing and not goes unnoticed you aren’t some regular skater bro your Tom asta doing this for us
One of the last skaters I'd expect to see making YT content, but without a doubt the best content I've seen from a "real skateboarder", instant subscribe! Cant wait to see more.
I used to skate when I was 15-22 yrs old, but I couldn't skate as long as I wanted to because my heart would begin to go crazy (episodes of 180+ bpm), which made me feel more tired compared to the actual work I did. Last year, a cardiologist finally located the root of the problem: I had "an irregular arrythmia" (his words); the electrical impulses were not firing properly. Now, a few months after surgery and I haven't had any episodes - watching these videos have made me want to jump on my board again. After I get back into the groove of it, I can't wait to start front nose slides and back tails on a ledge at this new park they built. Hope you're still skating strong, Tom. Thanks for these tips.
man, i grew up seeing this long haired beanie wearing kid absolutely SHRED xpark and falls park. It's astonishing and motivating to see your progress and how far you've come. KEEP KILLIN IT DUDE!!!!
Great vid dude! For me personally it really helped incorporating core training on off days, this includes rotational core exercises as well as static exercises. In my opinion this is a big key to holding slides/grinds for a long time, because it teaches the body how to get from a 'soft' core(while popping) to solid core when landing in the slide/grind and holding it. Also the timing of squeezing the core and learning how to 'release' it (generally in all skate tricks) at the right time is a technique that a lot of people lack.
Took me 20 years but I finally found a new fav skater (appleyard, saari ) hella tricks, hella steez, hella humble short hair Asta …..any demos any Cali sir
I definitely suffer from not having a trick on lock but trying to get it to slide long. Thats how I was with crooks, I would haul ass and lock into a nice crook but slowly slip into noseslide because I was focusing on the wrong things. Perfect timing for this video, thanks tom
Love this series Tom! Helped me figure out my slides and grinds way better. I’d like to see big spins out of nose slides, and big spin into slides, like bs big spin tail, fakie big spin nose slide, etc. Thanks and keep the videos coming!! 🙌🏻
Some of these details are things you wouldn't realize without years of skateboarding experience. I learned some things here and I've been skating for 20 years. Thanks Tom!
Great video! For me it was so weird, one day I was practicing my FS Tailslide, had them on lock so started practicing FS Noseslide. As soon as I started getting them on lock, out of nowhere I unlocked my FS Nosegrind and FS Crooks! It was magical learning all of those tricks in a single day and having them on lock from then on. Oh and I also unlocked nose manual on a 3-deck high box which was scary before for me.
All my life I've been in a small town with no parks nearby, but I just relocated to somewhere with a nice skate plaza and this was the perfect video for getting me exposed to ledge tricks. Thanks Tom!
its more like a pressure jump to the side..learn riding in nosmanny on flat, and try to nollie to the side out of nose manny...you give a push foward then a quick hop to the side hope that helps!
For years I've had very inconsistent fs noseslides and I watched this video for shits and giggles and went out to try it with the tips you mentioned and its as if I mastered them today in all but 20 minutes. This is the only tutorial thats ever done this for me, thank you!
My fav skater for sure...keeps me stoked and Hella humble and down to earth....when's the new part Coming out Mr Asta and keep the vids coming, super helpful

This information is worth millions. I would've like to see how to control fs noseslides in further distances.
yup! cant skip over the basics...they are stepping stones for everything else in skateboarding! the better you have them the easier everything will fall into place ! THANKS for watching!
"Your upper body is just as important as your tailslide... and your lower body is for holding the slide"😂 Tom is such a skate bro, I love it. Good channel
Wow this was very helpful! I've been skating for about 18 years and I just moved to Barcelona. The Skaters here do the longest slides ever and so my new goal was to be able to do improve my Backtails and stuff to go the long way. The way you explained and the tricks you picked were in my opinion the perfect combination to learn any other slides/grinds. Also the trys when you approached the tricks are very important to understand the way to get there. Thanks a lot Tom. Big inspiration. Glad I found your channel! PS: I would be hyped if there is a video about the diffirent ways to flip out. Like Backtail flip out, Noseslide heelflip out and stuff.
Proper on speed and skating in a higher rate of balancing and sliding down the pace of grinding the closest rail to the distance while switching over to a backside tailslide.
so satisfying to watch you clear that ledge 👍 i wonder if maybe i can't do longer noseslides and crooks because of the ledges in my area (Poland lol) which are just terrible. i feel like i did get the basics down as you said really well, but i either don't have enough room to set up or the ledge just has some cracks. some people can still clear them, so idk, but i know that these ledges (and non-existent rails) made me the flatground skater i am today who can kickflip manual (sometimes) but can't do a proper 5-0 or noseslide
Dude! This work you’re putting out is good. Always loved your style. I’d love to know what you do in terms of keeping your body good for skating… any training/stretching/diet/mindset tips etc. Thanks for what you’re doing out there!
These videos get better every time. I've been working on nose manuals, and funny enough when you mentioned how those are important for nose grinds, it hit me. I realised that's what is making my nose grinds suck. Thanks for these tips. I would also love to find out what one can do for a bs tail slide...I have been really struggling with that trick for years.
One last thing, your pinch on the fs nose grind is clear to see, is that kind of a secret to holding it? Cause I can only bonk it at the end of a ledge
Can I also add one more thing😅🤣I am honestly writing these comments while watching, so bare with me here... So the bs tail slide, instead of bs tail slide to fakie, how does it feel to do a shuv out, cause naturally my body wants to keep going straight, so I can't pop out to regular😑 I'm not sure I'm making sense
Super dope breakdown super hooked !!!! I use to skate now I have Multiplesclerosis so now I just stay aware of these things … hopefully I get back to it !!

not sure what kind of ledge you are skating but if you are struggling to get up onto the 5-0 try something lower! curbs are a great place to learn to ollie into tricks and stall, then take them to a small box....also helps to just ollie up onto a curb at an angle so you get used to that backside ollie motion, then start aiming the trucks! hope this helps and THANKS for watching!

@@tomasta They are tough but I'm only a mediocre skater at best. It's my favourite trick though so I'm really curious how you hold them. My local has an almost 50 foot flat ledge and I got a sketchy landing one were I held a whole block almost and that's only like 8-9 feet at most. The coping is so sharp I have a groove in the wood and my indy baseplates get shredded. Love it though. I guess it's a lot of over the shoulder looking fs board style and pointing to the landing. I also noticed on film that if I don't get the stylish back foot toe up thing that they easily sag off on the end landing back wheels first. Just some insane thoughts from a fs noseslide enthusiast haha.
