Wow! A truly great song and performance (I esp. love the intro!), not to mention that Stella looks truly stunning. One of Belgium's best entries ever and an all too worthy 4th place - of course, in a weaker year (like '84), this would have been an easy winner, IMO.
I watched the 1982 contest last night for the first time in 30 years and there are lots of great songs and this one really stood out. I forgot what a great voice she had and it’s very catchy. Deserved it’s placing.
Beautiful lady... She was part of, together with her sisters, in the 1970 entry for the Netherlands called (Patricia &) the Hearts of Soul. There she sang in Dutch with 'Waterman'. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago that Patricia died of cancer.
Very good song, powerful build-up. I love the rain-drop keyboard sounds. Definitely one of Belgium's best. Very worthy of its 4th place. Sorcereresc, your Eurovision videos are great, wonderful quality. Keep it up!
Yes, we've all had what we consider our underrated entries (say, your '94 or our '91 ones), but the point is that, in Portugal's case, they seems to have nothing but that...
According to what you pointed out to me, tasos, she was then participating on half of Flemish Belgium. So she helped gain the last decent result for Flemish Belgium - one of the few. Guess that makes her quite a lucky wild card.
I don't know but somehow Ein bissen frieden hasn't get to me very much. This Belgian song on the other hand got right to me from the first time I heard it and I think it was the best song.
Portugal 1997...I sort of know what you mean, but there is again this "hook" that never turns up. I like the first lines of the verses, the rest is lost on me...
Another very good Belgian entry, at least it wasn't underrated and got a well deserved 4th place. I think the song is very modern and off it's time, especially in the verses, but in the chorus it feels like it falls several years backwards...
Well, yes, I realised now that you said it that 1977 was the last time the Flemish side of Belgium achieved a top-10 result! And, their 7th place that year was the best they've ever done, along with '67 and '69 - I mean, even Portugal looks amply rewarded compared to these results!
I agree that the chorus doesn't really feel like a continuation of the verse. The verses are indeed the best thing about the song - the chorus does let me down a little. But hey, you've got to like what there is.
Still, let's not get carried away and think of Belgium always as two countries - they have often done well. Portugal however have my fullest sympathies - to never have got a break must be hard.
I agree, the verses are what I like best about this song. The chorus doesn't really fit in with them or feel like a continuation of them. But hey, you can't have it all.
@djanita1970 Well, that's another way of seeing it. Everything can be explained away. I for one have my mind made up on how to interpret that sound ;-)
Yep, let's cross our fingers for them (especially since they only just missed out on a place in this year's final). Btw, remember Portugal in 1997? That was one of the most undeserving 0-pointers that I can remember.
Indeed! Maybe the whole presentation seemed a bit too weird for the voters' tastes, but it still was a very memorable song and it was totally unfair to be stuck in nil-point hell along with the likes of Norway. But I guess it was business as usual for the Portuguese...
Yes, mine too! And it's not that they haven't deserved it - they have, many times - it's just that... oh, I don't know, maybe they have been sending stuff that's not very Eurovision-like, maybe they get overshadowed by big neighbour Spain, maybe it's just very bad luck. Still, they can always look at Finland at take hope (let's see, Finland debuted in '61 and won in '06, so since they debuted in '64, they have only two more years to wait for their turn!).
In Portugal there was a group (Cocktail in 1970's) that has sung a song very similar to this song (before 1982). I´m not considering that is plagiarism .... Few people knew portuguese music in that times.. so I don´t believe in plagiarism.

I like it! J'aime la musique! It has a nice melody. Thanks for posting, sorcereresc!

Her bow at the beginning is so cute :D
Yeah - this is great. One of the best Belgium-Songs!
A good Pop Song!

magnifique!!!
Si tu aimes la musique
Le (petit) monde tous entier de la Belgique, que j'ai vu: Riemst (flamand), Eupen (allemand) et les Fagnes Hautes (français) ...

Yes, you're right she was also a member of Dream Express.
According to what you pointed out to me, tasos, she was then participating on half of Flemish Belgium. So she helped gain the last decent result for Flemish Belgium - one of the few. Guess that makes her quite a lucky wild card.

Well, as long as we're on it, the hook turns up in the first chorus for me; I totally get goosebumps. Of course that's a matter of opinion.
My favourite from ESC 1982. Stella looks like Barbi Benton and the song is probably the best Belgian entry ever.
It's good, but I don't agree. The winner was the absolute best and it is still played.

I think this was the best song of 1982.
Vikto Lazlo a fait une belle prestation qui aurait mérité un podium.
did they repeat this recently on spanish tv as the picture quality is amazing
2:23 bless you

win,s many this day eurovision song. I can't understand where is injoy today's song.. sad
Wow the Spanish pronunciation of the song title went so wrong 😂
Yes, indeed... I'd turn away from the microphone if I needed to cough.
También podía haber ganado, estaba muy bien
What was that sound at 02:23??? Was it perhaps a sound of discontent?

I remember that's right I just got a hint
Esto era un Festival con MAYÚSCULAS.
@legaata sounded like someone coughing :-)
J'aime Belgique
Such a damn good verse...and then the dreadful chorus - god how naff! Could be a proper good pop song this...
she ended at 4th position
@legaata haha
