- Unofficial recap of all 18 Songs in Eurovision Song Contest 1982. Please, enjoy!
The Eurovision Song Contest 1982 was the 27th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Harrogate, United Kingdom, following the country's victory at the 1981 contest with the song "Making Your Mind Up" by Bucks Fizz. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the contest was held at the Harrogate International Centre on 24 April 1982 and was hosted by English TV presenter and newsreader Jan Leeming.
Eighteen countries took part in the contest with Greece deciding not to enter this year. Due the downsizing of their national broadcasters, France lost the rights to participating at the contest and so was also forced to withdraw.
The winner was Germany with the song "Ein bißchen Frieden" by Nicole. This was the first time that Germany had won the contest after having competed every year since the contest's inception. Germany received 1.61 times as many points as runner-up Israel, which was a record under the current scoring system until 2009, when Norway received 1.78 times as many points as Iceland. The song also cemented Ralph Siegel and Bernd Meinunger, the song's composers, into German Eurovision tradition, writing 18 Eurovision songs between them before and after "Ein bißchen Frieden", 13 of which were for Germany.

Always found it funny that we (Spain) decided to send a tango (style which comes from Argentina) to an ESC held in the UK in the midst of the Falklands war (I know the song was selected before the war started, but still Xd)
HAHAHAHAHHAAH yes that was interesting lmfao
Some people said it was in purpose, because Spain supported Argentina in the Farklands War (actually all the spanish-speaking countries supported Argentina except Chile that supported UK -because Chile and Argentina were in a war for the Beagle Channel-)
Stella being the only Belgian person to both represent Flanders and Wallonia - she even represented the Netherlands!!!! She also sang in three different languages and got a better placing each time she returned!
Which years for Netherlands and Flanders?
@@ufuksnmez98 Netherlands: 1970 and Flanders: 1977
@@nadirhajjour oh thanks i remembered
Interesting statistics. The song itself is not One of many great entries from Belgium
Stella is Dutch
Nicole was absolutely peerless at this contest. The rest was just blown away. Falklands War which was happening, also helped winning votes for this song.
I wouldn’t say she was miles ahead. This is a weird contest in the fact that I actually like the vast majority of the entries. I think the only ones I don’t like off the top of my head were Yugoslavia, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Even then I can see their appeal.
A quite nice ESC year. My top 5:
1. Spain
2. Portugal
3. Germany
4. Israel
5. Norway
Cyprus and Spain should have reached for higher places (3rd/4th).
The first truly 1980's Eurovision edition. Yes, you could already see some 80's vibes in 1980 and 1981, but there was still quite some 70's aftermaths in them.
1982 : the last year with wire microphones. The end of an era.
Israel 2007: hold my wire
The Swiss entry really sounds like Cliff Richards Congratulations. You cant tell me otherwise!!!!!
I see what you mean but I think they're different enough that any similarities are either accidental or coincidental
2:14 Just discovered this hidden gem :))
One of the many underrated Portuguese entries
I have been being obsessed One Step Further so far. 😍
Denmark, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Portugal, Norway, Spain, UK, Cyprus, Belgium, Switzerland and Israel are my favorites
Nicole was so far in front of everything else. My 1st crush too❤
Ooo… how did you manage to 1982 in decent enough picture quality?
Microscopic stage that year.
But I find it cool
I’ve been doing a thing where everyday I make the Eurovision song winner of a year progressing forward my status on discord. And coincidentally Ein Bisschen Frieden was the one for today
A shame that Luxembourg who performed so consistently and had so many victories over several decades are no longer competing. Another good entry in 1982 from them.
You can say something different now😅
Finland was the best ❤️🎶🎸 Something new, daring and unique. Underrated genius. Too good for its own good. Great rock song and a brilliant performance
My top 5.
1. - SPAIN
2.- BELGIUN
3. - CHIPRE
4. - GERMANY

7 points: Israel - Avi Toledano - Hora
8 points: Austria - Mess - Sonntag

I personally loved the Swiss entry but for the sake of authenticity I left it out of my ranking
Sweden Dag after dag ist so ähnlich wie 1985 Bonnysocke La det swinge.
The Finnish song “nuku pommiin” does actually mean sleep in to the bomb if translated directly, but it is an expression that means “to oversleep”.
My list: 1) Germany, 2) Sweden, 3) Norway, 4) Israel, 5) Spain.
The Finnish entry (which finished last) was partly written by Jim Pembroke, who was the singer with Wigwam, a much loved Finnish Progressive Rock group. In other words, a bit of a headscratcher all the way around....😉
Tant de chansons tellement oubliées, en tout cas par moi. Les chansons en français plutôt bien placées, mais finalement c'est une chanson en allemand qui l'emporte...

First!
A very weak edition (one of the worst of the 80s, in my opinion). I only like Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Cyprus, Switzerland and Germany... the rest is really dated, chessy or bland.
