Reconfigure your installation to get rid of that 90• elbow. Flex duct work is another thing to avoid if possible. Removing the elbow will make a huge improvement in the performance.

simple but effective - don't mind the ones that want always bigger - faster -louder ....i also prefer low-energy-consumption and silent solutions 👍🏻we do have enough machine that are crazy loud and every extra noise we don't add to them is a win - and btw for the very fine dust flying around in the workshop/ air that is a nice way to do it. but i admit if you want to use also a particle filter in the airstream the power may be not sufficient. 🤔 i'll have to check this -Anyway- well done & keep up

You killed it with that 90⁰ elbow. You need to find either a sweep 90⁰ (large radius) or to install two 45⁰ elbows to soften that turn, for improved efficiency. Just saying...
I think what I have done is enough, but of course it would be better to compare the two after making a new one according to your suggestion. Thank you for commenting and sharing your thoughts.
Looks like a nice size tradeoff for improved noise reduction. I suspect it'd be really good for smaller tools such as a scrollsaw if you wanted to use it directed at a single tool, rather than to merely circulate.

I think it's a great machine you've built but if it was me I would have made the impeller to shroud distance way smaller than what you have primarily because if you look at EDFs (electric ducted fan) , squirrel cage fans , turbochargers and turbine engines ,they traditionally have extremely close tolerances to achieve maximum efficiency otherwise you're generating a lot of turbulent flow in that space between the impeller and shroud and whilst I understand you don't want to produce the equivalent of jet engine thrust it will give you far greater efficiency out of the 65 watt motor
Hi, so many people make the encloser bigger than the propeller. I think there is wrong, because the part presure in this run just round this encloser without any effect. Maybe i am wrong but there is my opinion. Anyway good job. Greetings from Lech land.

I work with exhaust fans for restaurants and you have a very excellent design if you were to put some type of Venturi on it that would increase the speed and you can use that to pipe to your equipment for dust collection
Not exactly speed as such but air flow pressure, however, the idea is just great. I'd add to this excelent idea the use of some sort of light materials such as acrilyc or polycarbonate. Thanks again for your work and for sharing it
I tried using this motor (from a floor fan) for a spinning wheel. at a load much less than yours, it heated up very quickly. this motor only works with forced air cooling.
