- Hear Douglas Box discuss his recollections of one of Texas' most famous ranches and the rise and fall of his family dynasty.
The original Southfork Ranch for the famed television show Dallas was on Preston Road in Frisco and owned by the Cloyce Box family.
In 2014, Douglas published, Cutter Frisco, Growing up on the Original Southfork Ranch. In October of 2016, he published a more extensive memoir about his father called Texas Patriarch: A Legacy Lost.

My mom was secretary in the 80's and I swam there and the mansion was
also the last pitstop for the 1986 USA Olympic team. Mr. Box hired me as a 16 year old to pull MCM wire. I met Mr. Box and Mr. Crow as well as Ross Perot.
This brings back so many wonderful memories❤ I always hoped y'all would rebuild the house. I loved driving by it everyday going to school and going home
I loved the original Southfork Ranch. It was more realistic to see all those people live in it.
Yes and actually JR and Sue Ellen had their own little house on the property. Bobby lived in the main house with Miss Ellie and Jock. Gary had a house on the property as well. Even though JR had run him off the ranch. lol....
Good to know a little history about the property. I drive by it almost daily. I hope it remains a ranch for a long time!

👋😊 Hi....is/was Mr. Brinkmann maybe related to Ernst Brinkmann, who had the business "Brinkmann" (Germany's biggest technical company) ? I worked there in 1991/92, as a sales assistant.
So sad that the original home burnt to the ground. I blame the new wife.
Rightly so and also the youngest Box son wanted to date my sister. Not sure why she denied. As a teen would have been cool to get sister out of my hair. LOL!
I'm interested to know whether in Dallas they scripted a move to the new Southfolk or they just pretended it was the same. I will watch this later when I've got time. Good luck to the the Box family. Would be beautiful to claw it all back.
No it was never mentioned on the show or explained. The new season started in the Fall of 1978 and it was at the now famous Southfork Ranch in Parker, TX. The Box Ranch was in Frisco, TX.
