I also love leather bags with little to no branding and being front the USA, my all time favorite bags are vintage Coach. They are beautiful, come in all different sizes and gorgeous colors, and have stood the test of time. I just love them!

As a regular laptop user i don't recommend leather bags they are already heavy without putting anything in, even heavier they have lots of hardware. It will add a lot of weight on your shoulders and back if you have to carry it for a long period of time. Non-leather, water proof and light weight material i think are key to the design of a proper laptop bag. I have the Samsonite rucksack by SJP and another rucksack from Scandi brand Rain (both quite minimal in terms of aesthetics) and they are very good for laptop users.
Do you find that non-leather materials of the backpacks rub against your outerwear? I travel for work a lot and I've given up on backpacks as they all ruin my work outerwear (blazers, trench coats, wool coats etc.) and make terrible bobbling patches on them especially at the back from rubbing.
@@prdaAndy Not those backpacks i have, but i find wool jackets/coats/blazers naturally just bubble because of the material. My outerwear is mostly cotton and down (colder months) i don't purchase wool outerwear as much as i used to.

I have had my Aesther Ekme Sac for almost a year now. The most satisfying moment is slipping my MacBook in and it just softly slides in perfectly. Very comfortable strap wear as well.
Was literally on a hunt for a good minimal/timeless bag ! Fell in love with Celine bags (especially your sangle) but I just can’t justify the price... same goes with the triumph. thanks so much for this video :)

The APC Sarah bag is very minimal and a great alternative to the Celine trio (though it only has 2 compartments). I have it in black and really love how classic but minimal it is. Got mine secondhand NWT on Vinted too!
Hey! I actually bought this bag brand new last month but have put it on eBay as the zips feel stiff on mine and kind of eat my hand every time I take something out! (And I think I have quite small hands!!). Has yours loosened up? I love it so would keep if it will soften and get easier to use! Thanks x
I recently bought myself the Coach Shay crossbody in Wine. It is absolutely beautiful, has very very subtle branding and is that pebbled leather. I bought it for £150 in the sale and honestly it feels more luxe than some of my more expensive bags. The stitching is perfect and it has a proper slouch to it. I’ve never bought to buy Coach because it’s not been my vibe but the Shay is so timeless, I couldn’t help myself haha.
I have to say I appreciate your videos so very much! They are incredibly helpful and inspirational as this one is for me now. I literally want new minimal/classic things for the Fall and your style is completely inspiring me. Im in my early 40s now and I have reached a point where minimal, practical and classy bags (and clothing) are totally my thing. So thank you!!
New viewer here! Your point about the Loewe logo is why it is a brand i would be willing to shop at for a nice high end bag. It doesnt scream designer and the logo is genuinely artistic and pretty, unlike (in my opinion) brands like Prada or LV. I don't yet have the money to buy one but it is a goal of mine eventually!

I do love a basic handbag especially when it's vegan leather. One of my favourite everyday brand is Matt and Nat. It is a Canadian brand but I do believe they ship internationally.
I have a bag from a similar brand - Angela Roi - same deal, “vegan leather” aka plastic. Love it, but it does not hold up as a bag for daily use. I used it every day for 2 years and it looks really worn and old now.
Good for you giving M & S a shout out! I love their undies, trousers & of course the food hall & always think it's such a pity they are so overlooked as their quality is so good!

I have the Kin slouch hobo bag from John Lewis in black and I love it! I’ve had it for nearly a year and been using it as a work bag. It fits so much stuff in it and sits really comfortably on my shoulder, highly recommend and so glad you featured it! 👍🏻

Hi Emma, really loved the video, you actually brought the joseph slouch bag on my radar, I am only waiting for the perfect colour to take the plunge. A note on Aesther Ekme (actually really glad this brand gets more attention recently, since their bags are beautiful and well crafted): I own one of their older styles in a dark brown colour, the bag is stunning, so is the colour and the craftmanship. The only "downside" I would say is the leather. It is very high quality but also prown to scratches,. This is actually holding me back of buying the sac, because I don't known if I would take scratches well if I would use it as my daily work bag, am thinking of adding another smaller bag of theirs though. Definitely a recommendation for that brand though!
I loved their tote bags from like 8 years ago, but they have changed them a bit now and don't offer that tall slouchy style anymore that I wear to death. Their style offerings in the last few years just don't do it for me.
It doesn't matter where they are made. It depends on artisans and quality inspection. My family and I have bought 20 #lvpls bags in the past 3 years and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
I find the brand Uterqüe a surprisingly cool but rather neglected brand in Fashionland . And their bags are also fab. From showpony to very minimal, there is something for everyone. And vintage Delvaux is another favorite leathergoods brand of mine.
I recently purchased the polene n 1, wich I really like, i can talk about their outstanding customer service: after less than a week of wear an accident happened and the strap of the bag was ruined. I contacted them to know the cost of a possible replacement for the strap and they sent me a brand new one for free. I really appreciated these ‘luxe’ details in customer service and now I’m more interested in shopping from them again. Great value for money.

A nice sensibly sized bag you can actually put things in. Diary, iPad, notebook, change of shoes etc. If you are tall, a mini/nano bag just looks silly; some might serve as a purse or cosmetic bag if not too structured. PS It would be helpful if they told you how tall the model was to give an idea of proportion.

I bought an M&S black leather handbag from a charity shop for £6, #secondhandbutgrand and I would have bought it full price. I agree that M&S have 'granny vibes' but when you consider most of their pieces individually the quality for the price and style is great. No branding, classic and practical and I'm shopping there a lot more now that I'm a 'proper adult'. I always feel a little pinch of British pride when I shop there too 🥰🇬🇧
Not a brand that has tons of minimal styles, but Parisa Wang is a US based company that I’ve been eyeing for a couple years now. If you don’t mind some extra design elements, it’s a great brand to check. They have a mini bag that I really want.

I struggle so much with finding handbags WITH silver hardwear. I never wear gold jewlery and want everything to match in my outfits and I think gold (specialy on lower priced bags) can look very cheap with gold details (just my opinion).
Thank you for this video! I love Loewe and Celine. I own a Puzzle and have a Belt Bag on my wish list. Polene is high on my radar as well. I will eventually purchase from them, but need to decide on a style. Strathberry is another mid range brand I'm considering. Have you heard of DeMellier London? I own and love two Los Angeles totes, and just preordered a Vancouver bag because of its similarity to the Celine Classic.
@@EmmaHill Agree regarding the hardware. I have some reservations about the hardware on the Vancouver bag. However, with the price at 10% of the Celine Classic, I'm willing to try this style, even if it means I eventually upgrade to the Celine or Loewe Goya.

Good of Hedi to remove the accent so it's easier to identify OldCéline. 😏Keen to see what Phoebe will do when she launches her new line, which the NY Times reported is expected this month, Jan 2022. My only tiff with OldCéline is that it seems to be difficult to become an IG follower...my request of months ago hasn't been accepted. But it's a lover's quarrel.😍

I want a Seau Sangle. I love the deep external pockets, which I’d probably ruin by shaving water bottles and keys in. Where I live, especially this hot time of year, having water is essential and I don’t like to put a bottle inside a bag, I’ve had disasters doing that.

Loewe and old celine are one of my favorite brands. Loewe is so underrated w/their shoes and ready to wear. Also Max Mara and Hermes.
I recently purchased the polene n 1, wich I really like, i can talk about their outstanding customer service: after less than a week of wear an accident happened and the strap of the bag was ruined. I contacted them to know the cost of a possible replacement for the strap and they sent me a brand new one for free. I really appreciated these ‘luxe’ details in customer service and now I’m more interested in shopping from them again. Great value for money.

Really great video Emma, I think one I I will continue to refer to, every price point you can too, I always feel m&s is over looked, and sometimes I have a look. The bags are always nice leather. I need a navy bag for this weekend and struggling but I may go for the dupe triple in duo style! Thanks so much xx

A nice sensibly sized bag you can actually put things in. Diary, iPad, notebook, change of shoes etc.
If you are tall, a mini/nano bag just looks silly; some might serve as a purse or cosmetic bag if not too structured.
PS It would be helpful if they told you how tall the model was to give an idea of proportion.

I am looking for a black minimalist tote for years now without the ghastly screaming branding. I think i have found my new bag. Many lovely ones but that M&S cognac one is so pretty and so is the Arket bag in that beautiful brown colour. Good work!

I bought an M&S black leather handbag from a charity shop for £6, #secondhandbutgrand and I would have bought it full price. I agree that M&S have 'granny vibes' but when you consider most of their pieces individually the quality for the price and style is great. No branding, classic and practical and I'm shopping there a lot more now that I'm a 'proper adult'. I always feel a little pinch of British pride when I shop there too 🥰🇬🇧

Not a brand that has tons of minimal styles, but Parisa Wang is a US based company that I’ve been eyeing for a couple years now. If you don’t mind some extra design elements, it’s a great brand to check. They have a mini bag that I really want.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the best work bags at a more mid-price range.
I struggle so much with finding handbags WITH silver hardwear. I never wear gold jewlery and want everything to match in my outfits and I think gold (specialy on lower priced bags) can look very cheap with gold details (just my opinion).
Thank you for this video! I love Loewe and Celine. I own a Puzzle and have a Belt Bag on my wish list. Polene is high on my radar as well. I will eventually purchase from them, but need to decide on a style. Strathberry is another mid range brand I'm considering. Have you heard of DeMellier London? I own and love two Los Angeles totes, and just preordered a Vancouver bag because of its similarity to the Celine Classic.
Yes I have seen a few of their styles that I like, although Im not a fan of some of those with the larger hardware, but they are on my radar. 👍
@@EmmaHill Agree regarding the hardware. I have some reservations about the hardware on the Vancouver bag. However, with the price at 10% of the Celine Classic, I'm willing to try this style, even if it means I eventually upgrade to the Celine or Loewe Goya.

Excellent review, thank-you. As a no/minimal logo person, I have several of these bags. Good of Hedi to remove the accent so it's easier to identify OldCéline. 😏Keen to see what Phoebe will do when she launches her new line, which the NY Times reported is expected this month, Jan 2022. My only tiff with OldCéline is that it seems to be difficult to become an IG follower...my request of months ago hasn't been accepted. But it's a lover's quarrel.😍

I want a Seau Sangle. I love the deep external pockets, which I’d probably ruin by shaving water bottles and keys in. Where I live, especially this hot time of year, having water is essential and I don’t like to put a bottle inside a bag, I’ve had disasters doing that.
