Wonderful song which i like and love the best. Its my mother's favourite song. She is with the Lord now enjoying all the music of his love. Praise the Lord.
@@collinrobinson5670 It is because parents and Sunday Schools don't sing them at home and parents don't teach children to sing and enjoy this kind of music. Also, when parents entrust their children to public schools, public school teachers choose secular music and rhythms because they have to be "inclusive." DEI (Diversity, equity, and inclusion) excludes hymns like this because they refer to exclusive doctrines. Can you believe a "woke" school would admit to "my sinful self my only shame ?"
Me too! And too often, it a traditional hymn is incorporated into the worship set they add some modern twist to it that is totally unnecessary and takes the magic out of the original arrangement.
It's a shame that you can't have both traditional and good modern. It's going to be awesome when we are worshipping our Christ together in glory with all His angels in a new tongue! He's coming soon! Maranatha!
@@mikeace42 thank you; as a child of a Hebrew Christian pastor who was brought up in the Dutch Reformed church (and Holocaust survivors) I so deeply appreciate your sentiment. My mother was a choir director, taught us all the traditional hymns. My parents have been gone almost 40 years now but sacred music and the Jewish Jesus bring me back to the days of my father preaching the Gospel and my mother singing at the piano. Have a blessed Good Friday.
As you look at the makeup of the Choir, you see God's diversity. One day soon, we will all be there, different Nations, same Savior. I'm thankful for God's mercy and his grace. I went beneath the cross of Jesus and came out a Saint, praise God!
How i miss these lovely hymns in our Chapel ,the new do not have the depth, that like the older ones take you strait to Glory when well sung like Hastings College , Thank you so much for your ministry in music
It was his love for his elect sheep - those of mankind chosen by God the Father before time began and given to Christ to redeem and save - not for all mankind.
Oh! I just can't stop loving these old gospel songs, they are the best true worship songs. Continue my brothers and sisters to bless souls in Jesus name
What a peaceful and inspired song! written at a time when many beautiful hymns and spirituals were composed--a time when Heaven was a little closer to earth.
Though I am a lapsed Baptist (a Laptist?), this is my favorite hymn of all. The Hastings College singers render it gorgeously. I'm on my third listening so far.
Marvelous rendition! Love the performance and the the beauty of UA-cam is that I can replay it many times as I have done. And since those charming students and director can't hear me, I sing along with them reliving my past church choir and student days-a very emotional and moving experience. Thank you, Dr. Mountford. A great performance of one of my favorite church hymns. My one complaint is the way they stop suddenly on the word "rock" in the first verse and "sunshine" in the last, and I personally think it sounds better when it's held out a bit longer.
Written by Elizabeth Clephane. She also wrote "The Ninety and Nine" which was about her Brother George, the Lost Sheep in the song. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_C._Clephane
I love that the gal in front of the female soloist has an eyebrow ring:D The music is my favorite part of the video, I just thought I'd point out the somewhat less obvious;) Anyway, GREAT job, guys! Beautiful and worshipful - always a winning combination!
This is indeed a very lovely arrangement. However, the original wording is "His glorious love and my own WORTHLESSNESS" not the revised "my unworthiness". The softening of the wording in this, and other hymns, is due to the sins of Arminianism, humanism and ecumenism.
I was just going to make the same comment! But in our sinful world no one wants to think they have worthlessness! What a shame we have no worthiness! It’s all Jesus!

I love these traditional hymns. I miss them so much in church.
Why have our leaders given them up?

Was privileged to sing in this choir in 1955-1957 under direction of ‘Pop’ Hayes Fuhr. Great joy to sing for the Lord at ‘Pop’s direction.

It was not the nails that held Christ to the cross, but His love for you and for me.
It was his love for his elect sheep - those of mankind chosen by God the Father before time began and given to Christ to redeem and save - not for all mankind.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life".
Beautiful rendition of a beautiful classic. Go well young Christians.

What control ! Not the harmonies that I'm used to but I enjoyed the performance very much. Fantastic basses - and that's coming from a tenor.
My favorite Lenten hymn

I love this hymns we sing on this tune only Psalm 25 in India
Me han servido de inspiracion para un arreglo coral, esas cesusuras que le agregan son absolutamente interesantes!
