You have gotten me to design my own house..... and I'm 21. Seeing your plans come into reality has been amazing to watch and super inspiring. I can't wait to do this for myself one day. Keep up the great work
Why not use the holes above the oven for something instead of replacing them with new doors? CNC some custom brackets for pot holder hooks, utensil holders, etc. You could even fill them with a cool design or make them a secret decorative element.
For the pullout trash bins, I would strongly recommend using lids. Onion peel scent lingers and that’s one of the more pleasant trash scents. And I wish you a speedy and pleasant recovery!

I hope you rest ..as well as you are able to. At least the kitchen is functionable so good food is incoming. That kitchen is a creative work of love it's really beautiful. The silver, black and brickwork totally complement each other.
Wow that was some surgery. Glad you are still with us and on the mend. Take all the time you need and don't rush back too soon and land yourself back in hospital. I love what you are doing and am happy to wait longer between posts so as to give you time to heal. I also love the idea of you getting some off building renovation time and have some you time with family and friends. I think a separate channel would be a good idea for these excursions. Main thing to do now is heal and mend properly. Look after yourself and HAVE FUN
Glad you're on the mend. Love your series, and really love how you're building a family as you build an amazing home full of art and artisan craftsmanship. Your love and passion make your content addictive and they make me - a silly poet and artist a million miles away - inspired and excited for YOU and this incredible life your choosing and building. Thank you for being a light in a dark world.
The slide out appliance tray is so freaking cool! I would 100% use that for something like a stand mixer. Glad you are okay! Wishing you good health Mike.
i'm sorry to hear i'm sorry to hear about your surgery. I hope all is well. I really enjoy watching your videos. My favorite channel is HDTV or any house flip or remodel show, so the fact that I've been watching you through the whole corn teen. Up until now, it's amazing you're doing a great job. Take your time and get. The rest that you need and follow the doctor's orders. I will keep you in my prayers and make sure whenever you do your reveal or you upload another video, you keep us informed and let us know why you were in the hospital.
I love that you include your mistakes in your videos. We’re all human and we all make mistakes, and I appreciate when someone brings it to our attention and that way we all learn.
I've never done any home renovation or construction type work but this channel always has me coming back for the very entertaining and always informative content!
Looks great! Love the black cabinets on the brickwork with light wood accents. Thinking of following suit for countertops as well here in my own kitchen. The wife didn't like the idea of concrete countertops, but I think once she sees how they can look if the right materials are used, she'll be a changed woman. Glad you're recovering, and looking forward to the reveal.
Couple of other tips (I used to own an award winning kitchen business). *Build a 'Chassis' for the area of cupboards from scrap mdf and attach the adjustable feet. Put this down, level it, then all cupboards sit on top easily. Faster than reaching underneath to adjust feet. *Screw a 2x1 to the wall, now just put feet on the front of the cabinets and sit the rear on the 2x1 (Put a line of white glue first) *Use 165 degree Euro hinges for base cabinets to prevent tearing doors off when you bump into an open door. 120 degree for wall cupboards is fine. *Euro hinges come in full overlay and half overlay so you can make the cupboard doors look seamless. *When hanging wall cupboards, make a box to sit on the bench and support them as you fix them to the wall - Even spacing and you can do it alone. *High gloss cabinets show marks a lot more than semi-gloss or satin *ALWAYS drill a clearance hole through the first piece of wood before screwing it to another. Otherwise, the swarf from the screw holds the pieces apart. A screw should slide through piece 1 and grab piece 2 and pull it back against the head of the screw (Like a clamp). *Square drive screws have countersink 'wings' under the head so you do not need to drill a countersink. *Wear safety gear when using any machinery - deafness and blindness are forever.
I'm sure someone has said this but: Cut some plugs to size to fill those pre-drills you messed up then paint 'em black. Won't be "perfect" but it'd be pretty hard to notice up high in that corner for any unsuspecting eye.
Regarding your mistake with the door. Ask the people who made your doors and ask if they have any off cuts that are big enough for you to CNC a plug out of.
These videos started as something anyone can do... to something I can just watch you doing it, because I need so many hookup special materials and gear that I could never do that unless I invest 100% of my time.
Very sorry to hear about your health problems, sending my best from Cleveland! Take your time and well-earned rest - we all have loved following you on this journey and will gladly wait a few weeks while you heal!!!
Thats how you know the relationship will last he gave her his unlocked phone instead of just saying "Wheres your phone" its beautiful to see love like that.
Sorry to hear of your setback, Mike. You're looking good - hopefully on your way to a full and speedy recovery. The kitchen looks fantastic! The bar is a must - great thinking, Kat!
To somewhat fix those 2 doors, I have a suggestion. You could fill those hinge holes with plywood "pucks" , sand the whole door(on the inside), remove the edging and laminate it with black laminate. Re edge your doors and start over
You acknowledging and showing the dumb mistakes you make is the best part of this. I feel those moments in my soul and makes me feel better about the mistakes I've made. 👍
I have no idea why you don't have over a million subs. Your quality content is amazing and I can't wait until your home is finished (bet you can't either!) Thank you for all the hard work that goes into being a content creator.
Sorry to hear you were sick. I hope you're better now. Congrats for all the progress done so far. You'll be able to finish it and we will keep following you :)
A couple things, First I hope your recovery goes well!!! Second thanks for showing your mistakes... We all learn from them. Looking great, can't wait for the reveal....
Tip about the plastic coverings - lots of times if you leave them on, youll get these little bits stuck in the seams that looks horrible. I peel about 1-2” off the edges and leave the rest on, that way I can grab the plastic later and make sure that none of the plastic gets stuck in the seams.
First and foremost, glad to hear you're on the mend after your surgery. Best wishes on a speedy recovery. Second, and perhaps it's linked somewhere far below where I haven't read yet, could you post a link to the hardware for the pantry. It's very kewl and sleek. It's awesome to see how much you've gotten done. Keep up the great work.
Damn, bro!!! Hope you're doing well, sorry to hear about the surgery!! Love your videos and also get loads of ideas from them. Following the project from the very beginning. Sending you good vibes, feel better!! All the best to the family!! See you next time!!
on the cabinets you goofed on the hinge holes... use it to your advantage; make a hanging spice rack, or just a rack for storing ho pads, oven mits etc, that fits into those holes
I was not expecting that last bit of news! I hope you have a quick and complete recovery. I’m thinking the fuzzy foreman may be lenient if you give him extra treats.
AAACK! Hope everything's okay post-surgically. This kitchen is amazing. Enjoy the plastic peel-off party that we know is coming. (Akin to popping sheets of bubble wrap? Maybe even better!) Can't wait for the reveal party.
Get Well & pace your healing for better health down the road. If you don't have time for vloggin then, we can watch when you do. Y'all take of each other (& that pup too)
3 pro tips - Use square drive screws and hold cabinets together by hiding the screws underneath the hinges. The square drives (Robertson screws) prevent cam out and are easier to remove later and stay on the drill when you are screwing overhead. Last tip - replace cupboards with drawers for a 'Horizontal' pantry that holds 2x what cupboards do.
On the "mistake doors" inset some magnets and find a creative use for it. Maybe make something like a whiteboard that stores on the inside of the door but easily can pull off. I built cork boards and white boards on the inside of my cabinet doors and I love it and I use them all the time.
Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa. Have followed your renovation and series for more than a year and can't wait to see the entire project done. Absolute mammoth of a task. Well done to sticking it out.
Make those mistake holes a feature- put like round magnets in there and have it be your paper clip holder. Or put a mini basket in there over them and store your twist ties in there.
I would paint the inlay cabinet hardware holes from the Fridge mishap Black and forget about it. After a short while they will just melt int o the back ground. No apologies ever necessary for when Life Happens. Glad you're on the rebound. Enjoying your content Mr. Mike. God bless.
As a compromise, instead of remaking the doors with extra holes you could just make some plugs out of a similar material and glue them in. Either with the CNC or a large hole saw.
What inspired you to start doing this? From leaving your career to start building projects to super dope industrial renovations? Did you learn as you went along? How has it been for you since Chicago crime skyrocketed? I also really appreciate you filming your errors and setbacks! This is so much more relatable
hey brotha, sorry to hear about the surgery! Pulling for you to be in good health. Love your work and I watch all of your episodes. :) Makes me miss Chicago so much.
I'd put some 3d printed covers over the oopsie holes in the cabinets. The kitchen is looking great. Also, hope you recovering fast.
Absolutely agree, they use them on flat pack cabinets and you can buy them in the UK (dependent on size of hole I guess). A much better solution than trying to ignore them!
do do do resin time.
@@RoraighPrice Exactly what I was hearing in my head lol
add hooks to the fill to hold a small towel or pot holders
CNC some pucks from leftover material maybe :)
Fill the accidental holes in the cabinet door with epoxy and your M logo. Turn that accident into a fun little repair project.
that would be very cool -- good idea!
What an idea! I would drill out even more holes or connect the two to have more space to play around with.
@@modustrial or put in lights :)

The transformation from the abandoned building which looked like cr@p to this is just amazing! Hope you are all right again!
Happy your doing better I’m your recovery
This kitchen is turning out great! I hope you have a speedy recovery
Thanks JT!
I'm happy for how far you've come.
Let me enjoy this video.
Damn, bro!!! Hope you're doing well, sorry to hear about the surgery!!

Bruce!!! 😍 And I keep thinking I am watching this channel, because I like remodeling. 😆
The wife and I, thought you looked real tired. Glad your safe. Place is looking great. Stay safe. Health first. Thanks for the vids!!!
This series continues to be top notch.
thanks William!
on the cabinets you goofed on the hinge holes... use it to your advantage; make a hanging spice rack, or just a rack for storing ho pads, oven mits etc, that fits into those holes
I was not expecting that last bit of news! I hope you have a quick and complete recovery. I’m thinking the fuzzy foreman may be lenient if you give him extra treats.
Oh oh...take it easy, recovery can take longer if you don’t get enough rest. Glad you are ok.
AAACK! Hope everything's okay post-surgically. This kitchen is amazing. Enjoy the plastic peel-off party that we know is coming. (Akin to popping sheets of bubble wrap? Maybe even better!) Can't wait for the reveal party.
Great video. Man, don't work yourself so hard that you get sick!
It's definitely coming together. 😃
Sending healing vibes.
Get Well & pace your healing for better health down the road. If you don't have time for vloggin then, we can watch when you do.
Y'all take of each other (& that pup too)

Kat’s idea was 100% genius
Congratulations guys I really glad you. Guys and Gals enjoyed yall design keep chasing your dreams!! Once again Congratulations!
Good tips!!!!
Continue in your recovery!
You both (3) have that look of I can't wait to have that last screw in! Yay!
Nice thing is you can use those toekicks and make new sliding drawers for things like cookie sheets, and glass bakeware!
On the "mistake doors" inset some magnets and find a creative use for it. Maybe make something like a whiteboard that stores on the inside of the door but easily can pull off. I built cork boards and white boards on the inside of my cabinet doors and I love it and I use them all the time.
A pull out winerack/bar in that section next to the appliance tray would be an awesome retrofit for a future video. Keep well.
Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa. Have followed your renovation and series for more than a year and can't wait to see the entire project done. Absolute mammoth of a task. Well done to sticking it out.
Man, that kitchen is coming together beautifully. And I'll be praying for a speedy recovery from your surgery.
Either with the CNC or a large hole saw.
yeah or fill with matching epoxy
OMG ..... Kat is your hidden star power.
What a keeper!
Punching high man, very high.
Glad to see all is good. Stay healthy n looking forward to next instalment once your all better.
What inspired you to start doing this? From leaving your career to start building projects to super dope industrial renovations? Did you learn as you went along? How has it been for you since Chicago crime skyrocketed?
I also really appreciate you filming your errors and setbacks! This is so much more relatable
Glad you are better from the health issues. Hoping for good heath from now on!
A lot of great ideas on how to fill those cabinet door holes. Might just start with making them black and see how noticeable they are.
Sorry to hear about your health problems. I hope your recovery goes well.
thank you!
hey brotha, sorry to hear about the surgery! Pulling for you to be in good health. Love your work and I watch all of your episodes. :) Makes me miss Chicago so much.
