We need actual cost of living raises based on where we live and work, not twenty cents for the entire country. Until you get that, you can call it whatever you want, but it’s still just a raise, and a shitty one at that, not a COLA. A COLA is based on where you live and work. It’s not based on a set amount for everyone.
@@Romanticwolf there is a metric that determines the COL in your area. For instance I live in Vermont, and here we are (on average) 9% higher than the median in the rest of the country. That may not sound like a lot, but most 1 bedroom apartments are going for $1300+ a month (I have seen as high as $2000 in some areas). The national COLA is nice, but harder hit areas need a larger increase in COLA in order to stay competitive. The McDonalds next door to the PO I work at is offering $18 an hour starting.

Raise wages for career employees period now! Area specific based cola now! It cost most to live in NYC, Seattle, LA etc than Montana that’s common sense. More vacation time now! Get rid of the dumb step scale which allows a new career to basically make the same as a career who has been career for only 2-5 years that’s dumb! If you’re going to bump up pay for new careers you should have adjusted the other career employees as well that were already in their steps they worked hard to earn that!

Yeah, they need to do more for us pse's. at my location we are so understaffed people quit right away due to the working conditions. managment can teat us like crap so they do, and new people dont want to push back because you have to wait 2 years to get treated like a person who needs time off and rest.
@@dominicallison my point of view exactly trust me i was in the same position holding down the dock, unloading stack of packages , scanning the package for the next delivery day , doing the blue door , doing dispatch for the outgoing mail that came from off the street and helping the carrier unload, helping the truck driver to load crab cages and APCs full of mail all one person and when I'm worn , tired and, broken and you try taking a personal day manages look and treat u like your a piece of good for nothing thank God I’m an individual with multiple skill set that I was able to change crafts as much as I love being a Clerk but now I’m in VMF

The Postal Employee, is forced to do many tasks, which the employee didn't applied to do, and the Supervisors are just hanging around, looking at you ! The employee feels like a slave in 2024! If you don't like it, well the Supervisors tells you, "Do you want to quit" ? This is wrong, and disrespectful to a Postal Employee. The Postal Employee, should be appreciated since day one. The Postal Employee, is the one that prepares the mail to be delivered, to the world! People get their mail, thanks to that employee, that prepared it , to be delivered! Also, New Employees need protection from this Union. I know a few new employees, that only worked for 3 weeks, then they were lay- off because lack of work. Guess what? APWU didn't do anything about it! Just collected the Union fees, from their paychecks! Talk is cheap, actions, speak louder than words! Good Day.

Do something about employees having to wait years for awarded pay we get through arbitration wins. If we’re going through it across the country, the problem must be at HQ and payroll in Eagan! Do something about this pivoting and butchering of our MVS runs. TTO drivers are required to have and maintain CDL Class A licenses in order to drive tractor trailer and pull up to 53ft trailers. That’s a skill that’s not easy to do. The drivers and VMF Mechanics deserve higher pay.
Fight for overtime. Our building continues to have mail sitting there when it could be getting processed but they never post any overtime and that is not fair.
I agree with getting holiday pay. I have to give up my holidays at least I should get paid for it more than regular pay. The excuse that I'm paid a little bit extra to make up for holiday pay is not a good one
It is past time to STOP the management team from breaking the Contract. Then the grievance process is absolutely ridiculous. It is very simple..keep the damn contract. If not whoever is breaking it should have to pay. Otherwise our union is too weak. We are just paying for weak representation.

Pse time counts towards retirement & combined with career yrs should meet the pay for those yrs of service too. Higher pay wages to meet current cost of living. More vacation time. Shorter work week. Seniority to carry through with you no matter where you transfer and move around to. It’s not fair to those who have many years in and starting over at a new facility. Bonuses for employees for their hard work, for x amount of good safety observations, gold star, doing hero training to improve their skills on their own like EAS has,etc. to improve moral and show appreciation to those who are dedicated workers.

The apwu is against ot because it affects their dues. More part time jobs, more workers to cover the work, means more union dues.
They got rid of some contractors and I've heard there was a 50+ millions grievance settlement and the APWU is sitting on it

A good union job? I have been with the post office over two years as a PSE and make $20.45 an hour. I am pretty sure that is not a good job.
