I will be starting in a new district and new school this coming year. My school is being built and is in the finishing touches stage. I and so many of my colleagues just had the school year from hell last year. I loved teaching before that school environment and this past year had me questioning whether or not I wanted to continue teaching. However, my love of teaching and watching students grow prevailed. We didn't know until after beginning the school year that the school had a heavy teacher turnover rate, but by then it was too late. We literally had to pray ourselves through the year. Needless to say, there was a mass teacher exodus. The line to turn in our key cards and keys stretched around the corner. We all have new schools, but we are somewhat afraid to get our hopes up. We are all hoping for the best. It would be too much to type what we endured, but the most of it was student misbehavior and a disorganized district/school. Seeing your video, listening to you and how you are loving your school gives me hope. I had to encourage first year teachers last year to not give up because what we endured wasn't normal.
Oh wow. Thank you for sharing, but I am so sorry you experienced what sounds like a terrible year. I have learned that the environment that you teach in can make such a difference. I hope the same is true for you! Good luck this school year!!

Is that little shelf on wheels at the beginning an easel?
Yes! It pops up to be an easel. I haven’t used it for that reason yet, though!
OK I found your channel because I too am a Catholic School teacher who was looking for a you tube channel geared with us in mind. I was so glad when I found you that I stared to watch. They problem is that I teach 5th grade and you teach 1st; so the content is off. Do you or anyone of your follwers know of an upper elementary teacher within the Catholic School that has a you tube channel? I'm glad you found my channel! That's exactly why I wanted to create it. I felt there was a gap in Catholic educators on UA-cam! I haven't come across an upper elementary teacher yet.
I'm glad you found some of the books useful! I will make more videos talking about other Catholic resources. I taught 4th grade for a couple years, so I will keep in mind sharing ideas for older students.

I just discovered that Naomi is still teaching at a Catholic School and has moved down to 4th grade!!!! I'm hoping she post more because we need more Catholic teacher channels. I will continue watching yours and I bought the books you linked and found a few others. I don't remember names but will provide them to you and others interested!!!
