Had this issue on my 2016 MDX. Fuses looked good. Took battery to be tested and it tested good. Talked the auto store employee into swapping it out for me since it was under warranty. Came home and installed it an No more lights! Don’t let a battery that tests good stop you from trying another.

LOL this is a fairly common issue that randomly occurs even if you have a perfectly good battery and no corrosion. The act of simply disconnecting the battery resets many electrical components including ECU so your "cleaning" fix was likely coincidental and it was the actual power source disconnection itself that reset the computer.

2016 MDX here. Cleaned, sanded, and tightened my battery terminals, but it didn't help. My fuse blocks were good and clean visually, but went ahead and cleaned them with WD40 electrical contact cleaner. A leg of a roach or a bug came out, problem solved and all warning lights are gone. I'm not sure if it was the leg or dirty contact, but thanks OP's awesome video.

Happened to my 2016 TLX. If you do replace your battery, which I did, do not use a”refurbished” or any other kind of used battery. It will not produce the same voltage. They may say it does but, it doesn’t. My car still lit up like a Christmas tree. I purchased a NEW battery and it the car has had no issue. Have a great day!

Cool, I am going to copy a message I sent to another UA-camr. If the battery is not your problem, please have your mech look at the following:
Be sure to check the fuses to ensure none of the fuses are blown or have corrosion.
Now if that does not fix the issue, purchase a check engine line tester from Amazon, check the MDX to see if it's pulling a either crank or camshaft sensor faults. If so, your going to want to call the dealership to see if they can work out a good deal for complete timing belt replacement because the sensor is in the same area of the timing belt.
      Thanks

Also it could be either the Cam/Crankshaft Position Sensor. To identify that you would grab an OBD2 scanner to see if any codes popup. I believe there will not be an actual Check Engine light that comes on if this is the issue.

To me it’s basically resetting the computer system by taking battery cables off and putting them back again its temp fix but it’s mostlikely a electrical or a sensor ignition problem 😊

You would be surprised to hear that Acura does recommend a RESET every non and then lol.
If the issue may happen again, I would recommend to purchase a OBD2 scanner and run for either Crank or Cam sensor codes, if they do come up then it may be a dirty sensor that could be clean or replaced. I often replace them.

My 2020 TLX has lights on and got hit slightly in the front and the grille mostly took the damage. Could it be the radar sensor? I’m having trouble finding out why the lights came on after the hit. The damage isn’t worse than the lights on honestly

    • @AWordFromMrJones
      @AWordFromMrJones  13 днів тому

Sounds like a wire possibly got damaged and is grounding with other wires. I would inspect the area that was damaged and see if you can find any wires that are significantly damaged or electronics such as relays/sensors.
Also you code run a check engine tester to see if you have any codes for sensors that will also help you pinpoint the area to inspect.

That's a good perspective because the MDX has a battery cooling mechanism. I would check the date of the battery to see how old it is, you should get at least 3-4 years out the battery. Anything else can lead to unforeseen issues although I have seen batteries live longer but they may experience issues with temperatures. Often, a old battery has issues maintaining full power during the winter if not used often. I would assume that an old battery may also have issues keeping cool during summer depending on the temperature.

@@albertohernandes4516 Interesting perspective because alignment will never display dashboard lights and alignment issues will never shut a vehicle off.
Interesting 👀, I do question whom told you this information.
Now let’s say you do have alignment issues, then you will physically experience issues with the movement of your vehicle and “free play” in the steering wheel. This will also lead to poor tire thread lifecycle.
When it comes to the steering system and dashboard lights, it’s often that you will see an ABS light on if you have any issues with wheel sensors on this vehicle. I’ve also seen this issue associated with either the CAM or Crankshaft sensors failing.

@@megamanfun Yes sir that is correct, both. However if this does not resolve your issue then I would check the fuse.
Finally I would connect a OBD2 scan tool to see if your getting a P0369 code which would indicate that the camshaft position sensor has failed and needs to be replaced. Which that means you will need to also have your timing belt replace since the sensor is behind the timing belt.

For anyone else that is not able to fix their problem with this video.
If you checked your fuses, grounds, cleaned the terminals and the battery is not that old. Then I would suggest getting a scan tool to check your computer engine for codes. You might have a code pointing to your camshaft position sensor. This type of job will require replacement of your timing belt.
      - I say will require because any given time you remove your timing belt for a repair job, it's best to replace the belt with a new timing belt.

I know when I had a Land Cruiser I had some sporadic issues which was the crank/camshaft sensors. I believe the CEL did not originally illuminate till later, I had confirmed with a tester. Once those sensors were replaced the issues had resolved.
