Very true. The 2D games were fun, but III basically started an entire genre, I feel like the tone of this song really captures the triumph of that achievement.
Damn, this theme makes me feel old and happy at the same time. 2001, only 12 years old, way too young to legally play this game and this theme has been burned into my memory ever since. GTA III hasn't aged as well as the other titles in the series (grey tone of the game, clunky controls, arcade-ish gameplay, etc.), but it's still one of the most influential games in gaming history. And it was the first game I recall playing that felt like an actual "adult" game to me.
Lol, same. I was 13 when I played this. We had a small-time family run store that sold VHS and video games. I remember they were super hesitant to let me rent it out but they eventually did. It was the best moment of my childhood! Running home to my room, hearing the chiming PS2 Boot up. Watching the Disc tray eject, try slide out from a vertical standing position. Place the Game in... and the rest is history ❤❤❤
It’s 2001, little over a month after 9/11. The world feels grey and different and all hope is sucked away by uncertainty. Everyone is looking for a distraction. Dad and I drive to a plaza a town over. The parking lot is derelict and almost abandoned, holding no more than a closed hardware shop and a video store. We walk across a football field of weathered asphalt and spinning autumn leaves, hiding our hands from the cold. “Remind me to get some popcorn for mom”. Inside we separate and I find my way to the game aisle. A new PS2 title sits alone on a shelf with one copy peaking out from behind the display case. It’s a crime game with guns and cars in big city under an overcast sky. It felt like all the days since September. I take it and we check out. Once home I go to my room and open the disk tray and nudge it back in. Music plays. Welcome to liberty city. One of the Best game experiences ever.

10/10 best gta theme song. Really captures everything about New York and the dark and depressing vibe mixed with jazz blends so well with the tone New York gives off

😂😂 yeah true. If you watch ejrm films (I forget the name so many times😕) "Evolution of GTA Intros", You see GTA II's And GTA III's. It's really crazy.. The differences..
This song has a kind of gloomy, cold feel... just like Liberty City itself. And yet, sounds so classy, like a mafia theme. One of the reasons why I love this game.
This song is so good. I dont know how to explain it, but it kinda has a mellow jazz sound to it. Which considering you work with the italian mafia and the yakuza really fits the game.
Not really your opinion tbh, it's a straight fact. GTA III is the god father of open world gaming and the start of modern day gaming. The GTA 3D trilogy is one of the reasons why PS2 is still the best selling console in history. It's a huge step up from the previous gen games.
@@foxmccloudizsexy GTA, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear Solid, God of War and Devil May Cry were the reasons why the PS2 was a legendary console
You know when you listen to a song and your hair stands on end because it's so good? That happens to me every time the violin and bass kick in. That shit makes me shiver.
When you FEEL the music, you KNOW the musics got feel, and GTA3 IMO had the best theme tune of the whole series. Jazzy as fuck, just pure feel & flavour, the only 2 ingredients that matter in music... Hurtful, haunting, iconic, shit like that!

GTA3: "Chill, little Brother, calm down..."
Itamimaru wow bro das so funny bro im literaly cumming right now bro thats so funny
😂😂 yeah true. If you watch ejrm films (I forget the name so many times😕) "Evolution of GTA Intros", You see GTA II's And GTA III's. It's really crazy.. The differences..
*Claude then gets a gun out: lil bro: *its me Carl chill chill*
GTA vice city: "hey wanna get high?"
GTA san andreas: "gangstar shit nigga!"
GTA LCS: im a rockstar!
It's Moonlight_ Blossom! racist bitch
This theme is by far one of my favorites, just a whole vibe imo
Gave the vibe of "welcome to Liberty City and good luck. You're gonna need it."
This song gives me nostalgia

Son: dad, why is my sister called summer?
Dad: because your mom loves the season summer
Son: oh,thanks dad
Dad: No problem, GTA III FULL theme hq
🤣
Lol
Underrated
XD
Ah yes my favorite season
GTA III FULL theme hq
This song has a kind of gloomy, cold feel... just like Liberty City itself. And yet, sounds so classy, like a mafia theme.
One of the reasons why I love this game.
So does liberty city stories
Because it's a part of GTA III
Just like tbogt and tlad are parts of gta iv
feels like new york
So true.
This song is so good. I dont know how to explain it, but it kinda has a mellow jazz sound to it. Which considering you work with the italian mafia and the yakuza really fits the game.
Pretending to be ill in school to get sent home to play gta /:
Oh man so true. When VC, Sa came out even worse. Good times man
That game took 2 years of my middle-school life but i dont even care...
You know it's nostalgic when you actually listen to the whole five minutes of the song.
Sweet Sue Right
No you just have ADD
@Sparky And you have JC Denton profile pic. I thought the meme died out recently.
only maniacs listen to the entirety of the song lmfao
and over and over
In my opinion this is one of the most important games ever made this one game changed the gaming industry forever

Amen Catana, !! 💯🙌
You know when you listen to a song and your hair stands on end because it's so good? That happens to me every time the violin and bass kick in. That shit makes me shiver.
i feel you man beautiful af
fuck oath.
i've listened to all the radio stations off gta 3 just to fill the void
When you FEEL the music, you KNOW the musics got feel, and GTA3 IMO had the best theme tune of the whole series. Jazzy as fuck, just pure feel & flavour, the only 2 ingredients that matter in music... Hurtful, haunting, iconic, shit like that!
Yeah and the chinging/tinging noise every now and then when it gets atmospheric.
TheSpecialWyvern Omg I'm not the only one who does that?
He’s so calm so silent but deadly
This is 2000s made into music. So good

- you tried to fly with Dodo plane
- you got killed by Leone Family member in mafia turf, Saint Mark's

Guys for clarification,
Claude = GTA 3
Claud Speed = GTA 2
Rockstar are confusing
So is the HD universe and 3D universe, your grammar, operation Barbarossa, and the Bolshevik revolution
So Claude was frozen like Cap America and woke up in 2013 at GTA 2? LoL
Bullshit, it was same character from the beggining -R* changed gheir mind later. Same with el burro from GTA1 and GTA3 I guess, what means 2D and 3D meant to be one universe before they came up with the HD one.
@@edu_moonwalker Why u think so? We meet Claude in 1992 (SA), 2001 (GTA 3) and 2013 (GTA2) when he propably got killed. We don't know what was he doing in between.
@@Jarzyn44 Idk, Claude looks so much younger in GTA 2 than other GTA games. Rockstar continuity error maybe?

Music seems to be the lesser talked about part of games yet is what sticks with you the most. Only ever played this a few times at a friends house as a kid yet the nostalgia comes kicking with this theme.
I remember a teacher bringing his PS2 to class the last few days of Jr. High and let students play this game. After that, I was hooked.
