You should never start without the blocks being to the far right at zero. And the balance should be free floating at its center. 1:17

There is no in between, You should keep it at either 100 or 150. Although if you do weight 125 pounds lol, keep the lower scale at 100 and move the upper scale all the way up to 25. The scale should then balance out.

thing is they dont look very nice ..but these scales are the most robust you can get and pretty accurate not just simple springs and dodgy like the ones in most bathrooms...but i expect they would cost a fortune

Might depend on the type of scale and dare say maybe even the brand. The smart BMI scale that I have is pretty accurate with this type of Detecto scale within about 1 lb.

you have to balance it on zero first with both weights on zero if its not balancing your not ready to weigh anyone ..you must do this first ..or it wont be correct

There is no in-between number at the bottom. The bottom increments only 50 pounds. You adjust it with top part, which goes from 1 to 50 in 4-ounce (0.25 pounds) increments
