How To Place GPS Data On Your GoPro Videos In The GoPro App
Вставка

- In this video, I go over the step on how to overlay GPS telemetry data on your GoPro videos. This works for all generations of GoPro's from Hero 5 all the way up to the Hero 9 Black, it also works for the GoPro Max. You can capture GPS data on your 360 degree GoPro Max videos and place the telemetry over top via the GoPro app.

No longer available. GoPro is developing a new app and as such has asked us to use the crappy Quik software on your phone, which doesn't have overlays. So we have to wait to get their finger out to use this important feature for many, well done Gopro......idiots.
Well sir Thank You 😊. Today I took few videos of me crossing a frozen body of water on my snowmobile and I couldn’t remember how to add the speedometer overlays etc but remembered that you literally did a video on how to do it. Pretty darn cool 👍. Thanks again for sharing this cool trick with us !!!
This is pretty cool. I would love if they would include camera settings info as a choice.
excellent, well explained. Thanks
I saw people putting data, such as their speed on thier videos, but never knew how they were doing it. Thanks for sharing this tutorial, I need to try this some time.
You used to be able to do it with the desktop app and have lots more control, but then they removed it, despite people having paid for the feature.
Thank you .It works perfectly
you just helped me a lot, so simple but you really help my to have the most from my GoPro max.
Thank you! I really appreciate the help.
I keep coming back to your channel! SUBBED!
Excellent tutorial. Many thanks from Australia.
Thank you
Thanks for sharing, great video
Thank you so much!
“Give your GoPro a minute after turning on to find the satellites” you’re a life saver
Tried this on a airline flight last year out of London using the Hero 7 Black. Speed took a minute or so to sync correctly. Video is on my channel - flâner Pete.
Thanks! it worked!!
thank you, it worked
Your videos are extremely well done, content video and audio are top notch thank you. How can we do this overlay on a real computer? Is the GPS data embedded or tagged into the metadata of the source files? On long motorcycle rides the file size are large and transferring to iPhone or iPad isn't a workable option.
Nice Sean . Man I love your videos brother👍👊
Thank you very much
Another good informative video.
Thanks lyn 🙂
Great job 👏 thanks for sharing cheers
Thank you
You are the best! Great video
Wow, thanks!
Is there a way to have a it show where you are on a map? Or can you export GPX track data from the camera to import into a mapping app?
For me personally I love the old one because we can drag them in any position that we want. And yes one question is how to change that speedometer into kms and miles?
change the regional settings in your app.
Could you please help me by how to extract telemetry data from the 360 video file of GoPro max?
Is there a way to display the GPS coordinates and the compass heading on a still photo shot taken from the video?
On the PC version the speedometer and other overlays where much nicer and more detailed, is it possible to have them like the desktop version did?
Helpful. Thanks. BTW, Do you know if the GoPro app will be avaliable now or ever?
always helpful, thank you !
Thanks bro
No problem
Do hero 2018 updated to GoPro 5 has gps overlay
Super helpful video even still in 2024
can you put the gps coordinates on the screen as the camera is moving on the earth?
Do you have to be subscribed to the go pro app or is it free to add the mph meter
I dont have any of this on gopro quick, no stickers ]
Do you have a link to the app, gopro quick has no telemetry add ons that I can find.
is it possible to do this with the Hero 12? i assume not, but maybe there is a different way to do it?
Can I do this with just videos taken using my iPhone?
The gps in my gp9 is enabled but when im on quik i can’t put any stickers
But for GoPro hero 9 I found if GPS signal not strong enough the data won’t be complete and I can’t add the stickers in the Quik app. ? Thx
D you need wifi or cell for this to work? I tried this while skiing and I can't get the stats to show up correctly
How can I see the coordinates, LAT/LONG FOR RECORDED VIDEOS? is that possible?
How do you do this on a PC in 2021>?
I should have watched this video completely before complaining @GoPro, lol. I do prefer desktop/laptop tho and that's the issue for me. It's not working on Windows. But it's working in-app yet that's probably using a lot of resources in order to have a finished clip.
Thanks for the clip which made my dissapointment a bit less cause I was gonna use the GoPro as dashcam also. That made GPS data very relevant.
In addition for the "Description" of the clip, it's safe enough to say that it also works for the Hero 10 (it says now "...up to Hero 9 Black..."
I get this option for each clip but when I put it into an edit the option is no longer there to add stickers. How can you put an entire event together and show gps data?
New to GoPro and I spent ages trying to decide which to get. I researched all aspects or so I thought and I jumped in and got the Hero10. OK the battery life is poor but I knew this. What I didn’t even think about was compatibility with my iPad Air 2. Works fine with my Android phone but on the iPad all I get is jerky almost like a series of still photos although the sound is fine and continuous. Then I discover that there is no pc compatible version of Quik . How did I not know that! Also get no gps data at all even though the gps is enabled. How do I check that it’s getting a sufficient signal. Not a happy bunny at the moment.
Hi do you know if I have saved my video to an extenal hard drive for storage if I can go back and add this data? As it is not on the GoPro itself
Did you ever figure out an answer to this question?
Hi, thanks for the video. Is it possible to see an exact spot on the map where certain footage was taken? I’d like to buy GoPro as a security cycling camera in case of accident
Yes indeed as long as you enable GPS
@@AirPhotography thanks. When I hit Edit and then Stickers, I can see GPS Path icon, but it's not active
@@jandone100 same here. All of the stickers show up, but I cannot add them.🤔
Hi. When I am doing auto edit using gopro app the sticker is not showing?
Great, would be nice if GoPro made it possible to import GPX files aswell, including heart rate..
Interesting, I wonder if they could somehow tap into the Health app on an Apple watch to get heart rate info during adrenaline rush moments
That would be optimal! But idont think you could get gps data out from the apple watch, I used a garmin watch before and with that it worked. Nice to see heart rate along the video..
Garmin devices and the Garmin VIRB edit software can do this.
Dang it! IDW to use the GoPro app! Is there any way to access this data without using the app?
For the path feature, does it matter if the video is shot in a foreign country? What does GoPro use for the maps?
I assume it will work in any country. It doesn’t really use maps it just kind of draws a line of the shape of your path
On my gopro quick I have no option for the little pencil icon. As soon as I touch the clip it wants to pen in create mode. So doesn't work for me at all. Are there different versions of gopro quick?
It doesn't work on the desktop version.
Does the sticker option only show up when you have a video with enough geographical movement to produce telemetry data or would it work walking across my living room?
It works anywhere I used it just shaking my camera but for some reason it won’t pick up
Any idea how to solve speedometer out of sync??
Can I add Route Telemetry from an Android device to my 360 degrees Go Pro Max footage?
Hi . My Gopro Max GPS Speed shows Max 2km/h ? altitude is same , just show only 2 metetd , help me anyone pls 🙏 thx
I took a video with gps on but when i will try to edit on quik it says “gps only”
Apologies as I seem to be the only one having a hard time with this. I'm trying to do this on my Mac so perhaps the app is different but I don't get the pencil icon. Typically for Max 360 videos I use GoPro Player but I also tried with Quik and don't see the pencil in either. Help please.
Same here.
GoPro doesn't want you using anything that would you know... actually have storage for large videos, so good luck with that.
Hello, were you able to resolve this issue?
The feature no longer exists on the GoPro Quik desktop apps, they stopped supporting it and said a new app was coming. As far as I know, the new app isn't coming anymore - really sucks, I'll never buy a GoPro again.
@@JohnBaxendale agreed!
I turned on gps on my camera but on the app it still says gps only any suggestions why?
Can you do this with every gopro camera?
Yes indeed you can from hero 5 up
I dont have any of this on gopro quick, no stickers no telemetry data...nothing like that.
same here
How my hero 9 black won’t show speed all its says is gps only for some reason
This apps is no longer available, only QUICK and it can't show it anymore... any idea how to do this?
I know this is a year ago so they may have changed it. Anyways I have my GoPro max GPS turned on and it will not let me stick speedometer stickers. It only works while in hero mode.
Is this still available? i heard go pro removed these overlays from the quik app
I am not sure I haven’t used it in a while. I will take a look. Go pro launch the hero 12 today. And they remove GPS from the camera so going forward. I don’t think it will be a thing.
I have a GoPro 7 white and the gps dose not pop up
The edit pencil isn't on the screen on my 360max. How do i find it? Im trying to overlay the speed only vids
Hi, were you able to resolve this?
@@jediscumbag Yes
@@himjones How did you resolve this?
@@himjoneshow did you fix this?
On Android is not working. Overlays is unavailbalbe.
I’m not getting the sticker options when I go to edit. I’m on an iPhone 11 with the newest iOS.
Hi, were you able to resolve this?
Forgot to turn on my gps but now I have the data for the new one.
The Garmin product was infinitely better when it was being manufactured (if you're a sportsman). The power of Go Pro marketing has ensured that the public identifies with a vastly inferior product; pity
Would be nice if there was a way to overlay the data without going through the gopro app.
Can you do this on a PC?
Same question
No stop watch
G-force value is still weird in GoPro as 0G is something that you can experience out in space. And when we stand on the earth it's 1G.
They try to subtract earth's G from the total, which is not always accurate or desirable
i think they remove the option for 360 video this is boring .. we can only add marker on hero style video
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thumbs Up, do you know if Osmos action camera has something like that?
DJI drones do, but not the camera
@@TelemetryOverlay Handshake thanks
Not the current version, however rumor has it that there’s gonna be a version 2 Coming soon and I bet you it will have GPS built into it
Has the max really been out 2 years? 😯
Indeed, it’s been out for quite some time. It is due for a refresh. I think we might see a new one this year perhaps in the fall
This is a double instruction video. First of all, this shows you how to place gps data on your videos, but it also shows you how a good instructions video should look like. Just like this one.
Should google earth update data daily at 12 am
Where is the gps data?
This is terrible. No support for adding these things on PC any more, and as resolutions go up, so do file sizes and processing demands. Who thought this was a good idea? Anyway, thumbs up for a good video bud
you may want to take classes or visit a few youtube channels on the importance on how to 'speak up' so your audience can hear and understand you
Funny you say that I’ve had no other complaints with over 1 million views every month. Are you watching on A computer or smart phone. I’m curious says I don’t want this to be an issue
@@AirPhotography computer with ear plugs. Had to use CC
He’s old
Sorry, can't trust anything you say after suggesting that overlaying the logo on the video was something anybody would even consider.
Weird
@@AirPhotography I agree, it would be very weird for someone to paste a GoPro logo on their creative work... LOL
