Hi Tim!! Thank you for allowing me to discover Penrith from a distance, the map reveals it in the heart of Cumbria. It impressed me as an urban and rural town at the same time, with multiple shops, artisan bakeries, delicatessens and a variety of gastronomic offerings. I reiterate my thanks and send you a hug, dear friend.
@@norbertozoiloalvarez6529 Hello Norberto - good to hear from you again. I'm glad you enjoyed our brief visit to Penrith. It is an attractive little town and immediately adjacent to the mountains and lakes of the Cumbrian National Park. Every good wish to you.
Nice video Tim The guys with the skateboard it's actually an Amber trolley for measuring the track geometry on crossovers which are not covered by a track recording train they push it along and it reads where the dips are
Tim the flying Scotsman was at Inverness railway station December last year so there’s a possibility it will go there this year or up the west coast of Scotland to fort William and other places like that Tim
Another lovely video Tim well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on UA-cam bye for now Philip
Oh well at least you got out and saw Blue Pullman the best of the diesel trains. I missed two steam one on Wednesday I had not noticed and one yesterday that was gong to be Britannia but for some reason wasn't. I had a parcel delivery so stayed in all day it came after 7pm so I could of gone out and got back.
Thanks Colin. Yes - it turned out to be quite an interesting day if not what I'd hoped for. A lot of those parcel deliveries can be accurately tracked online if you have the company's app and that means that you'd know just when to expect it. Living in a sparsely populated rural area I find the service invaluable.
@@schoolshorts I have had tracking sometimes. A few days ago it was working fine but would you believe it I missed the van Just saw it outside and dashed to the door as he drove away. I refreshed and it said Tracking unavailable at the moment, and the van still showing 3 miles away, anyway got that one OK later, it was dropped off at the post office. Yesterdays had no tracking but did update to delivery today and around 10am out for delivery so I really expected it before 7pm
Glad you saw the Pullman. It's one of my favourite trains, I was a youngster when the Class 43's were new, showing my age a bit! Excuse my ignorance, aren't there any Christmas rail tours through Carlisle? Great video Tim, really interesting.
Thank you Lisa - you're a mere youngster compared to me. No Christmas tours are scheduled to come to Carlisle this year - I'll have to look again to see if any are passing through - I'm not aware of any at present.
Very good video Tim and nice to see another HST 125 diesel train you should a few train tours going through Carlisle station going to Edinburgh and Glasgow and the flying Scotsman does a trip to Inverness in December so you will want to see that Tim
Hope you filled out a Petty Cash Voucher for that trip. Takes me back to when my dad used to get me to go and send the post and get the petty cash book stamped.
So why do Carlisle signallers habitually send freight through the station on a platform road? Sometimes there's a crew change, which makes sense, but that's rarely the case for something just departing Kingmoor Yard. And the train is almost always held on a red at the end of the platform, so why not employ the centre road?
Most of our modern freight trains are, quite simply, too long for the centre roads. Only shorter trains can be accommodated in Tracks B and C. A passenger charter was actually run through C a month or two ago - a VERY rare working!
Tim ....... where da ferq did this take place? (Later) Oh yeah of course ..... bloody Carlisle. When will you and (some) other bloggers get out of yer comfort zones, and show us something other than Carlisle, Crewe etc ?
A whole army of UA-camrs film trains at locations all over the U.K. - many of them producing work of the highest quality - and many of them, like me, constrained by where they live, old age and limited transport. If you don't want to see Carlisle, try watching some of them - or better still, take your camera and obtain some footage for us from a new location. Incidentally, it wasn't me who gave you a thumbs-down.

Good filming again Tim, good to see the blue streak. Penrith is a nice place with the church grounds having the Giants Grave.👍👍
The Giant's Grave - missed that. Ah well, a good excuse for a return visit!
Nice video Tim

Thanks for the information - though I prefer the skateboard idea myself!
@schoolshorts
Yes I think I do
At least you got more than you were expecting. Nothing beats a HST!
Superb trains indeed.

One of those days - no shows and trains sneaking up unexpectedly.
Thank you Andrew - though "those days" often produce surprisingly good videos!

A super vlog… and of course, you can’t beat a ‘last minute platform change’ … 🥲…🤣
I could live quite happily without it though!

When the Citadel Skateboard Team appeared, I immediately thought of "Ghostbusters" 👻🎵☺️

It gives a clearer run and is quicker than through the centre roads, which are mainly for stabling. Always has been
