Mark was up doing a show in the Spitfire a few months before he got killed. He treated Aberdeen flying club members to something very special.
You MUST watch at least passed 4 minutes 20 seconds.
Sadly the quality is not fantastic, but the flying is something else......
HE LEFT US A GREAT GIFT,,,,,, HE SHOWED US HOW IT'S DONE PROPERLY.

It's always great to see Mark Hanna strap on a Spitfire and go flying, but, why, oh why, that godawful music. The music of a Merlin is what puts the icing on the cake.

What amazing pilots both Mark and his Dad really were. RIP aces...
I love his take off. Pulls up a few feet, retracts gear and accelerates nearly on ground effect,,, and then pulls up!

Like father, son also flys off low and fast goes high then in low .

The music is a great introduction but should been turned off and it left to the Merlin to provide the symphony, this is a fantastic piece of film which I have not seen before Thanks

Now that was epic! Much missed on the display scene.
Wheels up just on lift off....Mark holds the aircraft down to allow ground effect to build up speed faster. Real pilot son of a real pilot father. 🙏
BTW, I had read up on ground effect and tried it in a Tomahawk (Piper, not Curtiss!!) at Goodwood. I caused the tower to declare an emergency before clearing the trees to the west. Happy Days!

And anyone worth his salt wouldn't put Music over the Merlin.

Yes I know and I saw that film being shot in the Carngorms...Think about the positives....
It was done due to a PA 28 sitting beside me with a Lycoming running.....not the best to hear....

I know I’m a bit late here but does anyone know if this is the same time as there was a Spitfire display over Alford Motor Museum, Aberdeenshire.
I was there with my late father who was in the RAF.
Wonderful experience to see and hear the Spitfire.

This might be the worst ruining of a video with inappropriate music in youtube history. And believe me the bar is high.
Far too much music, the merlin in the spit needs no other soundtrack!
