Hi Joe, yes nothing like a Spitfire and never will be, the guy I know who has a Spitfire also has a P-51D Mustang amongst others he has a great collection. The experience in the Spit was not cheap but you always get what you pay for.
Mate !! our visit was crazy nearly every day we were travelling somewhere, slammed this video together quickly and uploaded just in case something happened to the original footage before we got back. I plan on spending some time to make a better job. Since I have been back a mate of mine introduced me to a guy locally who has two Spits, I went over to his hangar recently he has 2 x Yaks, P51-D Mustang, Albatros L-39, Waco etc. Great to be in the cockpit and taking control a magical day, thanks again for filming the flyby.
My two dreams were to fly on Concorde and in a Spitfire. Sadly the Concorde dream never materialised and I don't suppose the Spitfire one ever will either.
Me too, absolutely proud to be British, although I live in Australia now, I have a deep connection with the Spitfire been with me since a kid as RJ Mitchell is an in-law family member. I know a guy locally who recently acquired a Spitfire to his collection and has just finished the restoration project, can't wait to see her fly soon.
I just did this myself, have just uploaded my own video, then did a quick search on youtube and found yours! Great idea using a mic in the earcup, I didn't think of that so I didn't capture the intercom, but we did have 3 cameras, two on board and one in the chase plane (with me waving to the wife and kids up there), and I've chopped it all together to make a lovely memento. It's a fab experience isn't it?
Hello Paul, this is a great video - I think it's the best I've seen on the "Spitfire experience". Just one question, how did you capture the pilot/passenger intercom audio? I have a flight booked with Heritage Hangar for my son next week, and asked them about the video they supply, which apparently doesn't have the conversations included. Did you set this up yourself? If you did, would you mind explaining how you did it? I think the intercom audio adds a lot to the video, and would like to capture it if possible. Again congratulations on a great video! Andy
Hi Andy, so sorry I don't check youtube often, I assume all went well with your son? Yes I had two GoPro's one facing one behind the one facing had a mic that I lead into the earcup to record the audio. Agree it definitely adds to the video and a big thanks to the guy below in the comments bobsurgranny who took the actual video from the cliffs, amazing work.
Puh , someone really spent some money on a flight. I was looking at the booking for a Spitfire flight and said .. " wow okay .. that´s not in bugdet" I am kind a jealous buddy :) Hope you had a good time
@@samstanway I instead booked a flight in a T6 Texan at the Duxford Airshow this year in july , not even half the price of the spitfire , but 30min flight and the closest I can get to a "spitfire look a like" :D
@@r0ck3t3 T6 Texan is a great experience someone I know has a Spitfire and a Harvard SNJ- WII T6 Texan (noisy bugger) I have some footage when I visited and both Spitfire and Harvard were taxiing outside the hangar very memorable moment.
Thank you for a brilliant video Paul, I am looking at this experience at the moment and this has just confirmed it’s something I have to do. Which route did you take? I was looking at the white cliffs route. Thanks Chris
It was the most amazing experience I have every had, I did the video myself in cockpit including audio and the awesome footage taken from the ground was kindly done by very talented videographer see the post above bobsurgranny, thanks mate !!!!
Great question, the spade is unbelievably responsive the smallest amount of movement makes the Spit really react, small movement big imapct. I took control for about 10-15 mins all up partly on the way out to beachy head and mostly on the way back so got used to it after a while. I was looking at the artificial horizon first but it was broken then I used the actual horizon to level out and that made it a lot easier.
Incredible, I love this old bird. This and the P-51D Mustang. Bet this cost a bit! 😂

Fantastic! I've only just found it, wish you'd sent it to me. Must have felt amazing to take the controls 😎

Flying with a Spit formation over the coast next summer...hope the weather is just as nice!
Hi, hope so if you manage to get up there let me know how it goes.

Never say never, once international flights open head over to Biggin Hill and get yourself behind the spade of a Spit you will not regret it.
make me proud to be british when i see spitfires fly xxxxx

Hi, yes it was great one thing that pails into insignificance is the cost, the experience of a lifetime endures forever, if you get the chance do it !

Who did you choose to fly with? There are several companies operating these flights; not sure who to go for!

Hey Chris no problem happy to share glad I have inspired you, white cliffs is what I did only takes about 15mins flying time from Biggin Hill.
cannot wait till my flight next year for my 40th !
It is a life changing experience somethining you will remember for the rest of your life, have fun !
That's my goal to 🙂
It is a surreal experience better than I could have imagined ! do it.
Did you get to fly the Spit?
This summer, was 40 in march so counting the days.
Paul this looks fantastic. Is the filming done by the company as you fly and given to you afterwards

Must be such an unforgettable experience! Where exactly is this possible? Is there a website to book this kind of flight experience?
Truly an experience of a lifetime ! there are at least three places in the UK you can fly a Spitfire one of which from Biggin Hill.
how much did this set you back by. the only ones i can find cost £2500+
Hi, the experience far outweighs the cost, it is a once in a lifetime experience.
Amazing, how do the controls feel?
