And welcome the channel. In today's video we are looking at the brand new Tyxin 686 2.4G brushed tugboat from Banggood. Reasonably priced, can we make this into a rescue boat for our other RC boats? This is a solid boat that works really well.

I just bought one and for the price it's absutley lovely. For an extra $20 on Amazon I got an extra 4 batteries so we'll over an hour of use for very little money. It seems to be one of the very few cheap and cheerfully slow rc boats on sale.

It's so cute! Looks a good one for mods,boats are always noisy out of the water,so wouldnt worry too much about that.Hull and bodyu look pretty scale as well🙂

Awesome review Oliver! I’ve been eyeballing this since it came out, and thinking the same as you. What a great little recovery boat. Seemed to work out Fairly well . I’m just wondering what to expect for range? Also, I wonder how it would do at catching perch down at my perch pond. Think it’s got enough power to bring one in?😂
I'm not sure about the range. I kept it within 20 metres because it's only small, and it would make for a difficult video. You could try fishing with it, but it would be like the end scene from Jaws! Or it would just get pulled underwater like one of those barrels! 🤣

I suggest- like an ocean tug- attaching your tow line closer to amidships; then you should still be able to change heading while the tow is under tension. Also- as you discovered- keep the attachment point as low as possible!

I getting into boats again, I fly drones as well and like r/c cars. I have joined Runcorn model boat club, as I have lost an £80 brushless speedboat going it alone in local park when motor quit, so at least at a boat club you can always retrieve your boat, share knowledge and experience etc. I like the look of this little thing, might order one it looks "cute" yet functional. I got a Shrimp boat (hydroplane) built but waiting on some new 3 cell lipo's for it.And I got a new UDIRC UDI908 brushless speedboat on order.So this tug would be a welcome addition to the fleet!!! Hopefully should have some enjoyable days at the pond !!!

You don't need terribly deep water to run it. It is a good-looking little thing. You right. 👍

I think you just plug the battery in. I don't think it has an on/off switch. 🤔
It looks like those floats are to large and heavy so the tug suffers in maneuverability. I think using small plastic fishing bobbers would be better.

Is it possible to remove the deck and access the hull and electric motor(s)?
I bet the two halves of the hull split. That's if they haven't glued them together. 👍
On the odd occasion when the gent has the bottom of the boat unintentionally in view whilst conducting the 1812 Overture with it, it would seem that there are a few depressions in the plastic that might be for screws that hold the deck and hull together. Probably it will have at least some form of Chinese snot to glue/seal the 2 sections as well.
The Bang-ya-good listing quotes 50m range with the toy 2.4ghz Tx AND a beep warning when you are getting near to losing radio contact. The listing also notes the maker as "SG Pinecone" who also make the excellent little twin-motor SG-F22 "jet" foamy plane.
