Ive had a hankering for something nautical as our family had trailer yachts for over 20 years and although Im flying rc aircraft I took one look at these 2 vids and hit the buy now button, thank you Andrew again! looking forward to sitting in the shade with perhaps a cold one at our local pond in the coming summer months.

That is far more effective than I thought it would be. No real trace of the horrendous weather helm that some suffer from and surprisingly good downwind in spite of the servo problem you spotted. It was making good progress when the weed wasn't snagging it.
Of course it did have a very competent helmsman in charge :)

All you need now is three small buoys and someone with a similar class boat.

My experience...a boat launch is usually more free of weeds (with folks nearby to retrieve if you need it)....go for deep waters, after a range check (less to foul your rudder and keel)...expo on the rudder is your friend (just as you would have a lighter touch on the helm when you are close hauled).
    Fun to watch. Thanks!

ha ha Very nice. Right now to do that I would need to have and ice-boat model LOL.. You are a brave fellow. Knee deep in the ocean, with the weeds and other things after your toes, lol.. I think you are right, the best place is a deep pond, under a shady tree and on a fairly calm day. It was nice you did get some fpv going, and it looked great. I would like to see the camera in the cockpit, so you can watch when you let the sails in and out like in real sailing. Good job. Happy Sailing

HI Andrew, appreciate the comprehensive setup and review video. Incredibly helpful as I start to explore my first RC sailboat purchase. This is top of my list so far. Have a great "duck pond" near by my home perfectly suited for a boat like this. However, my only concern is the off chance that I get stuck on either some underwater weed or a few rocks piled up and now I have a stranded boat. Do you know of a similar "Ready to sail" boat that also includes a backup propeller incase I need to bring it back to shore sans wind? Unfortunately I can't jump into a real boat to retrieve. Thank you!

It's not unusual, when I'm out sailing my rc boats, for somebody to stop by and ask if I also fly rc airplanes, and how they differ. My reply: "It's been my experience that the boats usually last longer."

@@oldflyingman7581 i was flying with a guy in my club when somebody asked what it takes to learn how to fly rc. He offered that "everybody probably learns at a different rate, but it took me about 6 airplanes." The boat he learned to sail on is still in service. 8-0

Very nice! I have a 1:1 yacht too. On this vid (ua-cam.com/video/TJHyT5M2380/v-deo.html), you can see it driving on land, moving on an RC controlled car. (totally scary as an owner btw) , but I did this kind of RC sailing too. It is great fun but I also discovered it is only fun when doing it with at least two persons and race. And we put out some buoys and had lots of fun. But.....in the end...I prefer flying! Keep up the good work!

Oh how scary, but amazing RC transport. I agree, racing RC yachts would be a blast
