Instead of a polyball... I use the plastic widget inside a Guinness can which has previously been emptied... I have lotsa spare widgets

I just find an old electric item and use the wire from inside the blue and brown cables that connects to the plug. It can be twisted very easily and it saves a bit of pike wire.
