    My opinion on mini excavators: I think any size up from a e35 or Kubota kx040, is a waste a time and money. A 3.5/4 ton machine is a sweet spot and gets a lot of work done for its size, it's versatile, and easy to tow/transport. I own a E35 but have rented a John Deere 50D and no differences I was surprised with and would sacrifice price and easy of transport for. The next size that is killer, would be a E88 or Kx080. Still on rubber tracks, has some real muscle and weight behind it, and you could tow with a full size dually on a gooseneck. Enjoyed the video. 👍

      I'm looking at a E42 they seem strong for what they are

    Appreciate the side by side comparison of the E26 and E50. The E26 got the job done on the rock moving video but it took so much longer and the wear and tear has to be taken into consideration. The E50 certainly made it look a lot easier. Both machines have their place but that little E26 really impressed me, great video.

    That was such a pretty area, too. It’s a shame you couldn’t keep this little grove area, just for the natural landscaping. I would’ve camped there, but I guess I would’ve been traspassing! 😂

    I knew it Brian! I thought, from earlier videos, that a bigger excavator was in your future. 😊
    Next decision: Mulcher or Flail mower? Tiltrotator? Thanks for keeping us informed.

      Ha yep, it was only a matter of time! Im not sure what attachment will be first, will have to see what work I get into most with it.

      Are these Mulcher attachments any good for brush and stumps

    I know you have way more experience, I am just learning. Just some thoughts. I just bought a 2020 E50 with a 1000 hours on it, was looking at a new E42 but the E50 was less money even though a couple years old still has 2 year warranty from the dealer. If you get the E50 think about getting it with the case drain line already run up the boom to where the hydraulic lines for the thumb are mounted. Also consider an additional counter weight for when/if you have to extend out over the side with a cutter attachment and want to track while cutting. Mine is light and in some cases it won't travel. I also bought a ripper for digging around stumps less invasive than digging with my 2 foot bucket. Thanks for sharing your video, enjoyed it always learning.

      Yeah, I plan on having both of those things done when I get a moment so I can use the flail/mulcher heads. Thing is a beast of a machine and cant wait to use it on some jobs!

    It´s so nice to see that you often have chosen the same music for your channel as I did! All the best from Berlin in Germany, I really appreciate your calmness and passion for the work with the excavator. Do you still have to work in the software business or do you afford your living with excavating? All the best, Mike Bols

      Thanks! I still work in Software fulltime at the moment, but definitely have had enough work to do that full time if desired.

    I'm new to your channel and love it. I would like to upgrade my CAT 304 but don't think I could legally transport anything larger without a CDL. If you don't mind me asking, how do you plan on transporting the E50 at over 11k lbs while staying under the 26k CDK limit? Seems like you would need at least a 16k GVWR trailer and that puts you over. Thanks.

      15k gvrw trailer and 10k gvrw truck

    • @garyiannone8925
      @garyiannone8925 6 місяців тому

      @@OUTDOORS55 Thanks those numbers add up but I'm not sure they are realistic. A 15k trailer weighs close to 4000lbs or more so you can't legally carry a load that is mid 11k. It's also hard to find a 10k truck that will legally tow 15k lbs. I'm sure there might a config out there but most of them require a F350 and those are over the 10k gvwr on the truck. If you know of a specific trailer and truck combo that gets you there let me know. thank you.

    Love the videos!
    Quick question.. if you were starting over and only had the money for one machine right now, would you start out with a mini-ex or skid steer? Size? and what attachments?

    • @CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC
      @CarlsonSonLandscapingLLC  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks! It really depends on the work you are most interested in getting into. For what I am generally doing, it would have been in the same order. A compact TLB then into an excavator. The tractor really lets you do a whole variety of work, especially small residential.

      I could, but I don't want to incur the liability of a large burn. Plus, it was an incredibly dry summer and would definitely have to wait for a solid rain or snow.

    just an observation i think you need to turn down the speed of your hydraulics your operator skills and movements seem to fast an erratic. more control at slower speed might help.
