Has anybody else noticed the complete absence of polling by any of our mainstream media asking the Irish public their view of this tsunami of immigrants arriving here?
If they come to D 1 there’s about 10 of us left. Maybe if it’s conducted multilingualy someone might understand what they’re asking because they won’t be asking us lol😂There’d be no point.

Ireland as we knew it demographically is finished. Treasonous behaviour by our ruling and legal class have ensured there will be no end to it. Future is bleak.
I went to grad school in Ireland (Galway) in the early '90s, and I loved it so much I was pretty well determined to retire to there. I don't plan to anymore. The politicians in Ireland are giving the country away. A certain amount of immigration is fine -- I'm from the U.S. where it's a big part of our history. But it has to be kept to levels where the host society can assimilate the immigrants and within a couple of generations make them culturally, linguistically mostly the same as natives of the host country. If a country takes in too many, the newcomers don't assimilate, and form ethnic enclaves that resist assimilation, and may be downright hostile to it, and this is a recipe for sectarian strife.

I honestly wasn’t aware that Ireland has an immigration policy. All I see is undesirable foreigners lying there way into Ireland and then abusing our legal system to remain here permanently. I see no effort by these interlopers to integrate into our society, instead I see these people demanding that we accommodate there cultures and that we should be the ones who should accommodate their imported way of life. I’m not sure why, but the Irish people have been sold out by the Irish political classes. It doesn’t help that one of our leaders has at best divided loyalties. Fine Gael in particular have sold their traditional support out, solely to gain electoral success.

I have had notions of returning to Ireland after almost 40 years in England but recent visits have convinced me otherwise. It has turned into a sh!thole. When Ireland looks like India or Africa it will be those places. The levels of violence and criminality is astounding.

When Irish people migrated around the world they didn't get all the handouts and free housing that refugees coming here get, and they had to respect the laws and religious beleifs of the people in the country that they went to. We don't have any obligation to anyone. We should help people in need if we have the proper resources, but we don't.

I just read today in the Irish Time about the minuscule number of houses available for rent in the whole country, and yet we have basically open borders and there seems to be no limit to the number of refugees we accept.
Where are the refugees going to go when the students return to college? It's Insanity!!! Health system on it's knees with endless waiting lists, schools over crowded. Yet we are never consulted or allowed to discuss immigration. Why does the Government even bother with vetting refugees, nobody ever gets refused or sent back not even criminals, and now amnesty for thousands of illegals??

Thank you, Gript, for this response on migration from one of the most respected, though liberal, countries. in Europe. While Sweden has been selfish, to some degree about this, it's obvious that Sweden's generosity and open-hearted attitude has turned sour, like the similar reality in other European countries - like Germany and Italy.I met a Swedish couple who emigrated to the Algarve earlier this year who were merely responding to similar circumstances e.g. even being spat at in the street. If we stand back and look at this issue it should be obvious that the main problem is that most immigrants do NOT assimilate or want to integrate with the "natives" in the host country. They want to blatantly take over the host country and make no bones about it. Surely, for immigrants to be accepted they should have to furnish both a medical and criminal passport? Their attitude does not include any gratitude - it's more an entitlement mentality regarding social financial benefits and accommodation. Ireland needs to look at history and its abject failure to learn from other countries e.g. its patriots fought colonial pressures for years and now, in one sweep, they seem happy to hand over their hard-fought country to the migrating hoards with open arms! Our politicians, with their short-term mentality, going from election to election, cannot see the writing on the wall.

Scotland does nt seem to be having an immigrant problem --- It is probably too cold for them there. The vast majority are from Muslim countries and they do not intergrate. Now 6pc of the population of England and Wales but 18 pc of the prison population.
Trust me, they are pouring into here too. It's just much more concentrated in Scotland. Glasgow and Edinburgh are completely foreign cities now and they are being moved into the smaller places
