There’s nothing easy about investing. One could be selective on what they invest in, but no one really knows what will happen. Rules of thumb like Kevin said, agree 100%
I love how Kevin calls himself a "crusty old investor" His theories on diversification and financial weighting are great pieces of advice . Thank you Evan
Many legendary investors / traders advise and practice opposite. For ex. Warren buffet says "there's no need of diversification until you know what you're doing (in what you're investing). Diversification is just excuse for negligence." I request everyone to listen to those legends, because it's easier to manage few than many.
Disciplined investing. I like the way he thinks. And he understands what preserving money really means. Value-driven as well, something many people may not associate with Kevin.
I forced myself to watch this guy...I normally don't like watching these type of men with big egos...yet when he mentioned his mom and what she did and how it opened up a new way of thinking ,drew me in...that's a from the heart story and helps you get somehow where he's coming from..Thanks Evan Carmichael for your work.
This struck a nerve with me when he said this. My novice ass bought a good bit of crypto currency in December 2017 Th e height of the market months later that shit bombed smh. Lite coin 345 or something like that a share now its 117.00 a share.
I enjoy your videos, you bring great material, and then you disappear until the audience has forgotten that you actually put the stuff together. That is some class.
Kevin's probably my favorite shark as far as business goes, things is pointed out are cruel but real, only those who had gone through the dark side of business understand what he's talking about.
Me too. one of the reasons why i love watching kevin's videos. he uses a lot of terms and i'm like ???waitwhat. so then gotta pause the video and look up what the term means. It's nice :D. Soon i'll be able to understand everything without looking anything up. That will be a nice day.
thank you again for the great videos. i started to diversify my investisments in terms of time and i found out there is a lot of money to do. I love and will def apply the advice and apend the interest....
thank Evan I believe in you and thank you for your helping me to believe in myself I really like the part were Kevin said to keep it simple , with clear idea and vision we could stay focus in achieving our goals better
Thank you so much for the time and effort with this gem. Another great Canadian , he is also a very skilled photographer. Multi faceted and no nonsense investor
I'm missing something. In the Focus on Cash Flow rule Kevin says you can start out with a dividend stock that yields 3% but if something happens where the company's forecast gets slashed and the yield goes to 6% he wouldn't want to own that stock. Wouldn't a 6% yield be better?
Sky Blylevin you buy a stock that yields 3% 1 day that stock drops 50% of his value the yield will be 6% for new buyers not current share holders,if you owned at 3% you will stay at 3%
Diversifying is a safer bet, especially if you don't have hours in a week to spend looking at your portfolio. If you're an active experienced investor making tactical bets, you could get away with having 30-40% on one stock, but for the average Joe with 4 kids and no time to spend looking at numbers, your best bet is to diversify.
Patrick Luy When people diversify, they do it so that they don't get caught up in any one company or sector. If you put some money in several stocks, some in bonds, and some in commodities, you're at much lower risk than if you were to pick one stock and go with it. Me personally, I pick 5 stocks and put 30% of my net on them. Diversifying is just a way to balance out your portfolio to lower the risk. Most conservative investors saving for retirement aren't looking for 200% growth; they want steady 15% growth. Diversifying is a lot more than just stocks. Broker fees would be higher, but keep in mind, these people are not day traders.
I commented this to other Evans video but another shark from Shark tank. Mark Cuban says that diversification is for idiots who don't know what they are doing and Kevin aka Mr. Wonderful says that you should diversify.
turns out he means a "5% Weighting" - meaning 5% of his portfolio is Gold. So when the price goes up and it comes becomes 6% of his portfolio, he sells 1% back down to 5%.
I disagree with his versification of 5%. I will go with Warren Buffet's only buy stock that you really know otherwise buy index stocks. I agree with don’t touch the capital. And buy dividend stocks.
Caught that as well. I BELIEVE, he was again referring to the fact that 70% of the market has grown due to dividends. Not the percent change in the account owned by his mother.

There's an "N" missing on Rule No.2

Robert Kiyosaki and Warren Buffet, both suggest not to diversify. Who to listen to?
if you dont know wtf you're doing diversify in theory minimize risk.
For some it works for others it doesn´t.
Patrick Luy Some people do this for a living, and some people barely have any time to spend on this. Read what I said carefully.
Patrick Luy When people diversify, they do it so that they don't get caught up in any one company or sector. If you put some money in several stocks, some in bonds, and some in commodities, you're at much lower risk than if you were to pick one stock and go with it.

anyone know what he means by a 5% waiting? Does he mean a total of 5% of his portfolio?
Not sure Hamed, you could check out the source of the video for some clarification :) #BTA798 Luka
turns out he means a "5% Weighting" - meaning 5% of his portfolio is Gold. So when the price goes up and it comes becomes 6% of his portfolio, he sells 1% back down to 5%.
