Great Video, I love the fact that these cars are still relatively inexpensive to rebuild. I'm just finishing a 69 VW Bug sedan. I didn't have to replace any of the pan as there was minor rust that was easy to patch. I did have to replace the front fenders, half the nose, the driver's heater channel, and the passenger rear inner fender. Like you the list is smaller if I tell you what I didn't replace, LOL. I found my bug in Idaho for $2800 so including the purchase price I'm in mine for just under $14k. Great job so far and what a cool project.

It does get easier ( I'm on my 26th Jeep CJ7 restoration ) Next time don't spend so dang much for the bare car ..I've never spent more than $500 for a non-running non-driving bike/car/truck/boat/etc
    Thanks for sharing ..SUBBED !

The car came running and driving. Looked fairly clean. It was covered in sound deadner and the only way to find the stuff we found was to remove the sound deadner. Plus it was already lowered and super hard to get underneath in the middle of a boat yard lol. Live and learn. But we did get a pile of parts with the car. Well over 5k in parts. so I mean it is what it is lol

Thank you! Truly appreciate it. Takes a lot of work to keep this going but I want to! lol Just need to see some sort of worth at the end of the day for all the work. Minus the car itself lol

    I paid
    $1600 for a body
    $1500 for a titled donor
    $160 replacement frame head
    $400 floor pans
$1000 in replacement parts (brakes, drop spindles, brake lines, bearings, ball joints etc)
    $550 on narrowed beam
Still have a motor rebuild, heater channels, firewall, rear chassis support, interior, wiring harness, window seals and misc. to go hahaha

I think the car is going to come out pretty sweet. so it kind of sucks that you won’t be keeping it. I bet it will be hard to part with. if you’ve got a halfway decent pressure washer you could go to Norco and get a sand blasting attachment. It’s just a simple tube with a nozzle and a hose that goes into a bucket of sand and instead of air you use the water will take the paint and anything else right off that pan and just try it off maybe treat it with a little bit of acid to etch it you could do the same thing to all the other parts. You were going to powder coat and then use black, glossy rust bullet on it I think it would be nearly as good as powder coat and way cheaper. I got one of sandblasting attachments and it was like $49 and then we just used sand from a Sandune by our house. You don’t have to be picky just about anything will work as long as it’s fine like sand.

Great idea! I've looked into this and ordered it lol thank you!. Keep it as simple and cheap as I can lol. I can bet I'll keep it, I can't see the channel building that kind of audience. And it if does, ill just keep building them lol the UA-cam channel holds the memories itself

I'm glad you took that in the humorous way I meant it. I autocross my Beetle(s) and cannot make stock seats hold me in place. I get where you're coming from, however. There were Sports Bug seats available in '73, made by Recaro, if I'm not mistaken, with nice bolsters. They fit the THEME of being stock seats, but would not fit the budget idea. Anyway, you're doing fine work, and doing it right.
