My biggest advice having done my heater channels recently , fit the channels to the chassis and bolt it all up loosely, bring the body to the chassis and bodge around until it fits as snug as possible, then bring the doors into the door holes and make sure they bolt in well and open and close properly, the last thing you want is to weld it all up and then the doors don’t fit . Make sure the car is sitting on its own weight too as things move and settle with gravity . :)) good luck dude
Great job and not for the faint hearted. I have restored old VW's for 30 years, if the repair panels you have bought from Cip1 are made by Kokkerholm then good luck! These rarely fit in my experience and take forever to adapt (a few cm's out usually or wrong profile). Best advice is spend the money and buy from businesses that make the panels fit, not the commercial junk sold by so many large companies. They are out there!
everything was dansk, I wouldn't go with kokkerholm ive heard nightmares, but either way im having tons of fitment issues lol Thanks for checking out the video!!
Welcome to VW resto and repair, unfortunately you will have to reengineered all of the after market body metal, I'm replacing some metal in the super and doing the same thing forcing fitting the mental. Good luck you doing well.😁
Hi Mike, Super Beetle heater channel are shorter than standard Beetles, that might be the source of some of your problems. Good video, I am following closely as I am getting ready to do mine in the next couple of months.
it just makes no sense to me why the heater channel when bolted up would be 1' long in the front and 1' short in the back, its like the mold was messed up or something lol
@@mikedeschamps I bought Klokkerholm Heater channels (I'm in Scotland) but have just gone round putting additional welds on the nuts hopefully so they don't let go so easily they looked a bit dodgy. I also painted inside the air channels dragging through a rag soaked in paint. I will do the other cavities in the heater channels once they are welded in place with Lanoguard our version of Fluidfilm....🙂
The panels for our cars are junk gotta make everything fit. Spent weeks on my rear apron and pied cut one of my heater channels. Been like this for at least 15 years. I’m thinking some of the bus stuff is better though
It's gotta be the wrong heater channel that's the only explanation in my mind. that's way to off for it to be proper lol. but yeah I guess we see this issue often when we go to add any new parts
Check your windows, sparks are too hot and melt the glass. If you keep going on like that, soon you'll have all your windows screwed with black spots everywhere and no chance to going back. I patched one corner of my beetle inside and destroyed my windsheild like that so mask them.
Get your body metal from Wolfsburg west, quality always.
🤩Ausgezeichnet ! ( Excellent ! ) 🤩
Epic Thumbs Up on the progress !
😇❤

Hi Mike how bad is your old fire wall. You already have it out can you repair it while it’s out.
the old firewall is in about 4 pieces now that its all cut out lol

Only thing I’ve melted so far is a camera lens lol but good advice ! Thanks !
Two things that go together CIP1 and not lining up LMAO
