you're welcome! I'm really slacking on lesson planning these days to be honest. I have all the good intentions, but sometimes I just need to do less...
@@MarielleMorris I’m glad it’s helpful! It was something I wish other art teachers showed more of when I was starting. Everyone plan differently and some schools require more than others.
Hey! I appreciate you! Thanks so much for all the free and very helpful resources. I bought a super cute mug from you yesterday too (a moment of anxiety-induced work-avoidant consumerist behavior- but one I feel quite good about) and I am excited!
I’m a sophomore in college for elementary education and one of my assignments is to make my own lesson plan for kids😭 and then TEACH it in a classroom!! I’m so nervous …
There are so many lessons and projects already out there. I'd say just choose one to be inspired by and rewrite it in your own words or template. Make a handout or visual. Maybe change it up a little, but there's no need to reinvent the whole wheel. One class period goes much faster than you think. You got this!
you don’t realize how helpful these videos are!!!! i have 2 more years of college until i become an elementary art teacher so i’m soaking up all the info i can get! if you know of any other good channels or resources pls share!!!
I was thinking about when I was in college, what kind of things did I want to see? I wanted to see behind the scenes of a real teacher. Not the lesson plans college gives me. I want to see how it really works. I'm glad it's helpful!
Also, I would suggest following elementary art teacher groups on facebook. There are so many good resources from those groups and they also lead you to good youtube content. Or also instagram art teachers.
This is incredible! I beginning my first year of teaching elementary school art after a career in a different creative field. I am super overwhelmed but inspired by your approach to lesson planning. Thank you for the inspiration, and if you ever plan to bundle your curriculum and sell it on TPT, I'll be there to purchase it!
@@allisonoborn3091 I’m glad I could inspire you! Also, I changed my curriculum and lessons every year all the time so I wouldn’t even know how to begin bundling it all up for others to make sense of. Maybe one day though, that would be a good idea.
Awesome ideas! I’ve been at this for 21 years. I teach preschool, PreK, kindergarten and grades 1-8. It’s a 2 track school. I see every child once a week (about 430). In addition I host an extra art class each week to a group of 3-5 graders and another for 6-8 grade (mixed classes). It’s a lot to keep track of every week. We all develop our own systems. I feel fortunate that my admin doesn’t force me to send in my lesson plans each week. It’s in my room on my desk, but like you said when you had just started out, most of it is in your head. That’s still me - year 21! Hahahaha. I really like your format and how you have a page in a page with the standards etc. thanks for the post!
You've got a lot! The classroom teachers have a M-F template and it just doesn't fit for someone who teaches all the grade levels. I'm in my 8th year and iI thought it'd be more in my head the more years I teach, but it's the opposite. I get more and more structured. My first year at elementary level we had to bulk send all our lesson plans in Spring... it was a nightmare because I didn't have any plans! I just had all my weekly presentations. I spent a few late nights organizing all that. When they have to be submitted, it's honestly easier if it is just done weekly or not at all.
I can see how it would get easier. But it’s still a lot of work. Kudos to you and your awesome organization efforts. Hope you’re having a great year so far. 😊
I won't be sharing that, because honestly, I google search images to match the targets I write and I rarely, aka never, site my sources. I know, it's bad, but I'm sure I'm not the only one. If they were my own images I'd totally share, but they are not.
Very helpful! I needed to hear this, thank you
