@kittycraft The number on the cab is 4920, however, 643 ( called a symbol ) is the number designated by the by the type of movement being made / commodity in transit. It use to be common practice to place the symbol in/on the number board. For example, a Norfolk Southern train designated 643 would be a single commodity (non-coal) train and related empty equipment operating over multiple divisions. Each railroad has their own designations, this example is one that I happen to know of.
The whole movie was filmed in canada. On the fraser canyon route. When the pull outa "stillwater utah" thats actually lillooet canada. Dont believe me? You tube lillooet railyard and frazer canyon route bc rail. Also if you cant tell or no nothin bout trains the "chase" locomotives are in bc rail red white and blue. And the runaway is in a similar paint scheme of bc rails two tone green sceme. Btw the locomotives are montreal locomotive works m420s
They could have just kept to number board and put a second layer that says 4920 and then when done using it then take out 4920 layer out then 643 I hope you know what I mean
this was the first runaway train movie i ever seen before 1985's runaway train, 1973's Runaway!, then Unstoppable. if you post any more VHS movies on here. Please Upload Alien Resurrection. it would be cool to see the VHS version on here than the dvd version.
Speaking of the 1973 movie Runaway, in that movie they show one way the airbrake system would have a problem, is if there's a blockage in the brake lines
nope different route tdifferent railroad. undersiege 2 was really filmed on the southern pacific route around moffat tunnel. this movie was filmed on bc rail territory in the frazer canyon and river line. the locomotives used in this film are former bc rail mlw m420 locomotives.
Wait can't you just cut power to the throttle and wait for the train to hit a long stretch of flat terrain to stop it. It's not like they couldn't keep all the other trains off the line in front of it
@nladisha Actually American disaster film filmed in Canada. Not that it matters, American or canadian, it still has plot holes as big as the grand canyon ;)
Its like this @GaithersburgRail knows 4922 is 641 its like a engine order. 641-4922 will be infront of 642 4920 should be behind 644 number order 641-642-643-644.
i thought that trains will derail when it takes a corner at high speed and this train is 1999 train and it dosent equip with an emergency fuel shut off switch.
2:56 3:09 Locomotive To Fast 11:58 Nathan K5LA Horn Blast!
I hate how symmetrical the consists of the train cars is.
Not to mention how short the whole train is.
5 words you DO NOT want to hear on the railroad: I am out of control!
6:30 Freight 4920 Chase Train 14:06 4920 TCN&R Fast
I wonder what if would be like if they used a steam locomotive with a diesel helper as the chase train, and attached tanker cars to the runaway.
Or have the caboose brake like how the SD40-2 in Unstoppable did!
Unstoppable didn’t exist when that movie happened
@@Stan_ETA Yeah, but this comment was written 11 years ago.
I seen that before I said that reply

They're actually meant to be in Colorado and the scene in San Fransisco is supposed to be Denver!
@Femalechaos2011 Your Welcome :=) the last sections will come this weekend
If there was a problem in the airbrake system like air hose burst apart the brakes would automatically go on, not render it a runaway.
This loco was older and probably didn’t have emergent systems like modern day locos do
Bruh this movie was in 1999 and I guess automatic was almost not a thing all of a sudden.
@@parkerpritchard4111 Airbrakes have operated this way for hundreds of years. A sudden break in the line will put the air brakes into emergency.
@MrMikejosh yes thats right! but i wonder why do they call the train 4920 when is 643 aborn the cab?
643 was the original number 4920 is a number they put on for the movie
Train symbols and engine numbers are irrelevant to each other.
When they put 643 above that is wrong
All these poor trains must be very scared = (
I saw this in a movie where the derailer popped off
The second unit on the lash-up train 4922.
@MrMikejosh
4920 is the chase train and 643 is the atomic train
Why is 4920s number on the top 643
That's in Vancouver Canada Right
Denver, Colorado, Nuce try though, I thought the same thing lol

@MrMikejosh yeah, and 4922 is 641.
how is part 2
@VwErik88 I guess they weren't allowed to change the number boards (or it is a really stupid goof :P)
They could have just kept to number board and put a second layer that says 4920 and then when done using it then take out 4920 layer out then 643 I hope you know what I mean
Who in the blue hell puts piles of dirt in the middle of a track??? lol

4 runaway train movies I know
1 (Runaway!) (1973)
2 (runaway train) (1985)
3 (Atomic Train) (1999)
4 (unstoppable) (2010)
here is how they could have stopped when the chase locomotoves where coupled to the consist the should have decoupled from the cars then braked
The train in "Under Siege 2" was filmed there.
nope different route tdifferent railroad. undersiege 2 was really filmed on the southern pacific route around moffat tunnel. this movie was filmed on bc rail territory in the frazer canyon and river line. the locomotives used in this film are former bc rail mlw m420 locomotives.
2:57
Repeat: Eastbound 642, I’m Out of Control.
yeah, i know. its pretty stupid, i figured that, but that is the frasier river canyon and the line up to squamish, bc. the engines are bc rail engines
Yeh i notisad that too...is that a director blooper maby?
If they wanted to stop it why didn't they just apply the hand breaks on the freight cars and caboose.
Each locomotive has a hand brake as well. There's no reason they couldn't stop with only 10 cars or so.
I think the brake hose snapped
notice the trains are in Canada, and at 8:56, that skyscraper is in San Francisco. just sayin
why don't they put the train in reverse???
You can't do that. The electric motors will plug and destroy themselves.
Wait can't you just cut power to the throttle and wait for the train to hit a long stretch of flat terrain to stop it. It's not like they couldn't keep all the other trains off the line in front of it
Stairmaster9068
Because it's down hill pretty much all the way into Denver. Where they would promptly crash.
@nladisha Actually American disaster film filmed in Canada. Not that it matters, American or canadian, it still has plot holes as big as the grand canyon ;)
Probably, it would ripped right off the rails at that speed.
Thats not at all realistic from a train point of view
Its like this @GaithersburgRail knows 4922 is 641 its like a engine order. 641-4922 will be infront of 642 4920 should be behind 644 number order 641-642-643-644.
So you’re trying to say TNCR 4920 and 4922 should be WestRail 641 and 643
Like this
643 lead
641 trailing
And
642 lead
644 trailing
this train should be able to stop on dynamics, because its two engines and a caboose, and like 8 cars, thats nothing. this movie is barely realistic
It would've gone into emergency as soon as the air hose separated.
You mean 9 cars and they could have just used 4920 to unhook those railcars and derail engines
9:32 GET A ROOM!!
i thought that trains will derail when it takes a corner at high speed and this train is 1999 train and it dosent equip with an emergency fuel shut off switch.
@GaithersburgRails was the yeah, and 4922 is 641 to me?
BNSF TRAIN
Hang on a sec: Why didn't they think to throw the train in reverse?
THese trains should have an emergency fuel shutoff
@trensbr200 Não, infelizmente eu não tenho
VwErik88 p
@Mrludde700
sorry mean the atomic train is 642 and not 643
Did they think about turning off the throttle yet? Best we give the train no power to move with besides gravity.
1230james
Yes they did. These trains, even short ones, still weigh a ton. It's a lot of force pressing on the front locomotive.
Yep!
4920 should have kept it's cars for brakes bruh
3:07 Out of control eh? SURE. It's called TRY THE GODDAM OLD FASHIONED WAY.
It's called DA MANUAL BRAKES ON THE FREIGHT CARS AND CABOOSE. DURRR
1230james or engage the breaks on locomotive 2. Just because engine 1s breaks are gone, doesn’t mean engine 2s breaks won’t work either
@@RailsOfTheSouthProductions its probably underpower
