The thing I recently learned of olivem1000 is that IT DOESN'T LIKE ALOE VERA. I tried making a lotion with (quite a lot of) aloe juice and olivem1000, and they all split or didn't thicken at all. Did some digging and apparently it's a thing, not very well known but still. Made the same exact formulation replacing the aloe with water and had no problems. Keep this in mind when formulating!
The deep dives are my favorite content. Olivem 1000 is a safe bet for me, for allot of natural face creams, eye creams, lotions and of course cleansing face balms because of the soaping effect. I cant wait to see what you will think of next. I did suggest to be about the tipes of emulsifying waxes (inoinic, ionic, non ionoc, cationic and what they do, for what products they are good and for what they are not) because for me and for allot of people is abit confusing but i know that you will explain it the best. Keep it up couse i just love everything you do 😊.
@@SamarOsman I have no idea how to reduce it becouse this is just the emulsifier. Most of the time i do use it in my advantage and i have learned that you cant fully stop the soaping effect (atliest i havent found a way). If you do not like it (i dont like this effect on creams too) you shoud think about replacing it or atliest introduce a second emulsifier witch will be more difficult then swapping it completely. So when i do not like how Olivem 1000 acts in a product i just use something else. ❤
Yaay love it!! Oloven 1000 is what I use in my creamy body wash and cleansers. Excellent deep dive!! Would you do Olivem 300? I am not really finding info about how much to use to solubulize small amounts of oils in say a wash, or the ratio. I'd love to see a deep dive into it as it has so many versatile uses!
Yayyy I’ve been waiting for this deep dive! I only have Olivem 1000 and btms 25 for emulsifiers and the btms 25 is rly earmarked for conditioners/hair products so Olivem 1000 is my main rn and I’ve been waiting for ur expertise!
Love the green earrings and sweater on you Marie! Looks so lovely on you! This video is very timely Because last night I tried olivem 1000 and broke my lotion 😔 I think the oil content was too high versus water? Im not sure. But the oil / water completely separated. I used 8% olivem for 137 g recipe. Maybe I didn’t use enough?
In the video it states 20-25% of oil phase which seems like so much!! I guess I’ll have to try that. Should we always use an immersion blender too? I found that even at the proper heat it remained chunky and not fully dissolved
Thanks for all the information you share :) I hate brand names and naming of cosmetic ingredients.... My favourite supplier here in Germany carries something called Olivem1000 Crystal Skin. The inci is identical so I'm hopeful the product is indeed the same as olivem1000 Today I was looking for BTMC which is apparently called Kurquat over here. I guess what I want to say: hooray for INCI :D
Thanks dear I've been sitting on my Olivem 1000 for some time. Not knowing quite what to do with it because it's anionic and most of my stash is cationic.
If I have to make a facial cream and can choose or BTMS 25 and Olivem 1000, what would be more convenient for the mature type of skin? Thank you so much♥️♥️♥️💥
I want to make a lotion for myself. Can u say in which percentage niacinamide , arbutin and kojic acid works effective when used in combo in single lotion
That's a great big "it depends", I'm afraid. Please read these posts to learn more :) www.humblebeeandme.com/how-to-research-your-ingredients-part-1 www.humblebeeandme.com/how-to-research-your-ingredients-part-2 www.humblebeeandme.com/6-new-years-resolutions-for-formulators/ Happy making!
Can you please help me figure out what emulsifier to use in my deodorant recipe? I am looking to make an acidic deodorant with added probiotics, the thing is, the activated probiotics are in liquid-water form, so I need an efficient W/O emulsifying ingredient that's all-natural, I was going to use olive wax but I am not sure that's gonna be enough? what do you think?
Hi Marie, thanks so much for all your amazing videos! I am learning so much! I was just wondering.. I see that Olivem 1000 is a Oil in Water emulsifier. My formulations with Olivem 1000 only works when I use it as a W/O emulsion. I also saw on your hand lotion that you used O/W. Any notes on this?
Hi Nadia! I recommend checking out the post + video I share earlier this year on lotion myths: www.humblebeeandme.com/stop-believing-these-6-lotion-myths/. I think your understanding of o/w vs. w/o isn't quite accurate, leading to your question :)
It really depends on the formulation; hand stirring is generally fine for larger oil phase emulsions :) As the emulsion gets thinner you may find you need an immersion blender to create a stable emulsion, but it really depends. Happy making!
Yes, definitely, though it would be a fairly low-importance ingredient in a shampoo :) You likely wouldn't notice that you'd used this emulsifying wax vs. most others.
@@HumblebeeAndMe ok thanks. I'm looking for a natural emulsifier option for my shampoo, because i did not work with sunflower Lecithin. I have oil in my shampoo to make it less stripping,do you have any advice for a moisturizing shampoo for curly/kinky hair?
Hey I've been waiting for this video. However, recently found out that olivem 1000 is not malassezia safe. I'm searching for an emulsifier that is malassezia safe (carbon chains C26) is there any?
This isn't something I know a ton about, so I went over to simpleskincarescience.com/ and looked at the massive list FC has compiled there of funal acne safe products (simpleskincarescience.com/fungal-acne-products-malassezia-pityrosporum-folliculitis/). I noticed cetearyl alcohol and ceteareth-20 in several products, and those 2 ingredients comprise a product sold as "emulsifying wax soft & silky", "FSS Emulsifying Wax C20", "Emulsifying Wax Cetearyl Alcohol/Ceteareth 20", and quite a few other names :) Just look at the INCI to know for sure!
It’s hard to find good emulsifiers that are Malassezia safe since most land within the range, so you might want to consider emulsifier free emulsions via synthetic polymers, or combination of synthetic polymer with single / co emulsifier below c10 for better stability.
Hi! My question isn't about this video. I was wondering if there was a legal reason why you didn't call your dupe videos "diy egyptian magic cream" and "diy brazilian bum bum cream", simply because I really like making exact dupes/replicas of famous products for fun, and was wondering if I could do that in the future on youtube without putting myself in trouble. Do you have any insight ?

It works great with Aloe Vera Juice. You just have to add a co-emulsifier
@@catmamma79 I also had a significant amount of cetyl alcohol and even xanthan gum and still didn't work. What did you use?

I find up to 40% oil emulsifies quite well with lecithin and olivem as coemulsifiers.

Can olivem added to cold process soap ? If yes how many % ?
I suppose you technically *could*, but I can't see any reason to. I personally wouldn't.

may I ask where did you purchase the spatula?
Please look up "Jar/Icing Spatulas" in the Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/) :)
Neither one nor the other is stable for me. Cetyl alkohol or olivem. They need a stabilizer. Maybe xanthang gum.

A simple solution is needed.
