Hang in there! At least for now if you can get to the E Line (perhaps by bus) you'll be able to take the K and the people mover between the terminals. Anything is better than going through the LAX loop.
@@Sullyville until people mover is open you still gotta take the ring. I've been stranded trying to take the 212 late at night then K line closed for the night. As somebody that does not own a car in LA I have been hanging in there.

Thank you so much for this great review! I love the combination of humor and useful information, which makes it both entertaining and educational. Can't wait for more content!
Driving to LAX sucks. I've been taking the trains for years even though the last mile has been by shuttle. It will get even better when the people mover is finally online. I drove to LAX a couple months ago for the first time in years. It reminded me why I don't do that anymore. The gridlock (on a weekday) was so bad my brother ended up walking from the Bradley terminal all the way to terminal 6 so I could bypass the majority of the loop. He still got there 20 minutes before me. F&ck driving. You can literally walk all the way out of LAX faster than waiting to get picked up.
The trick that many of us know is to have people you're picking up to make their way up to Arrivals and pick them up from there. It's usually much faster.
I really like the research and work you did here and oh my, even naming a politician! The parking lots are so expensive especially in LA & who banks from it.... you're right, pretty grim. Hoping the best for 2028
At least there are bus routes that go to sofi. I take the one from the Harbor Gateway Transit Center. Which means that I have gone to Rams games only needing to take 2 busses. That's neat. And it was pretty cheap too.
Yes, for sure. But it’s really too bad they’re stuck in the same traffic as everyone else. If they had dedicated lanes they’d actually be fast, creating and incentive to take transit over driving.
I live in Silverlake and I took the Red Like to the Expo Line then to the K Line. Then I took an 8 minute Uber to the Forum form the K Line. Way cheaper than ubering directly from Silverlake. I just takes a little longer. But the K Line is hella clean. At least for now.
We got many years to go but I can remember when there was just 3 lines (blue, green and red) as a kid. So can’t wait to look back at these videos when I’m 100 and think, we have come a long way.
Hey Sully, we met once on zoom and talked about cliff dr idk if you remember anyway I think a cool video would be on the history, present, and future of state street and getting interviews from people and whatnot. Anyway keep up the work
The backhanded compliments are annoying, and so is the sarcasm. The video completely fails to mention that the C and K lines had a major reconfiguration resulting in a significant route change for both lines. Resulting in not only the K line having a direct connection to the LAX People Mover, but the C line as well. And unlike that swipe against the K line for having a couple of at street intersection crossings, the C line is completely grade separated and the fastest LRT line on LA Metro. I argue that the C line will be used more for getting to LAX than the K line once everything opens. The C line also has a direct connection to the A line, which goes directly to Union Station as well. BTW, there are many clean and well designed stations on LA Metro. I doubt you guys use LA Metro on a regular basis. I don't think the Inglewood APM is officially dead either.
The Green Line (along the 105 Freeway) SHOULD have continued directly into LAX, as well as continued another mile east to the Metrolink train station in Norwalk. Los Angeles is a great city. The planning, not so much.
Yes, unfortunately that's true. Rather than allowing developers to build what the market demands, cities have laws that force them to build a certian number of arbitrary spaces, based on studies done decades ago. Cities are waking up to this and getting rid of parking minimums; Austin, Spokane, and San Jose to name a few. If you want more info on this topic, my most recent short is about it. But you should check out the Parking Reform Network and the new book "Paved Paradise" for great info on this.
You're not wrong there. The Pacific Electric and other lines created more track mileage in LA than existed in any other city at the time. However, most of those lines would be considered light rail today. There's wasn't much grade separation, and only a handful of short tunnels. That's actually why they got ripped out; they went through mixed traffic with cars and couldn't travel any faster than traffic. The current expansion includes heavy rail, fully grade separated, and in tunnels. There will never be as many track miles as before but the new stuff is arguably better quality.
2 weeks before 9/11 I took the bus from LAX to Santa Monica Hostel. This was before Google Maps. It took me the whole next day to find proper transit maps. I had to use the internet in the library, $5 for an hour or something I don't remember, at least I didn't have to be a member. But you're telling me after 24 years, the best LA can do is get you to the edge of an airport car park, which is so huge there's probably 5 minutes more sunshine on the western side in the evening?
Don't worry! Hopefully next year the final K Line station will open, which will have a direct connected via people mover (which is an automatic train) to all the terminals at LAX. The people mover is complete and trains are being tested as we speak. The real hold-up is the K Line station.
1:05 no it isn’t. Light rail with grade crossings is not better than nothing. It allows critics to say that it is not useful and costs too much money and all future projects should be cancelled. If people’s experience of transit is that it is slow and inconvenient they will not use it and will oppose future expenditures for it.
Even if they completely build every single line they ever want to build, every single time I've ever written metro the past 5 years there are teenagers or drug addicts causing mayhem
They’re trying like getting the last segment of the K Line finished. Just another year. Wait until next year. Then it’s done except when it’s not. The LAX people mover has another 13 months until done. Yep, another year and 1 month. LOL😅
Metro isn’t useful even if you tried. Two major lines are in the freeway median as if you can easily access them. You can’t. Metro lines all go to DTLA where no one works or shops there. Perhaps the only useful lines are the C/K lines when you want to go to LAX and you can disperse to the outer reaches of the city before you call an Uber driver. Unless you don’t feel safe and fear for your life and luggage. Why spend billions for badly designed Metro routes and unsafe trains. That’s Los Angeles screw ups for you.
2047, not soon enough there's no excuse to accelerate the project. Let's ride sooner than that year, let's say by 2032 for the North Section, call them out especially Maxine Waters and the Owner of the Venue. For the Torrance extension we desperately need Federal funding for it's accelerated completion by 2028, and pressure Lawndale to build the station and don't make a big deal out of it. Shame on you Maxine Waters, you are not in unison, maybe you should retire from your work, the people mover will be built weather the owner of the venue like it or not, we have spoken.
I can't wait to ride the K line from the airport to my apt in hollywood in... 27 years lol

I guess there’s no such thing as LAFC territory these days. Congrats on the cup lol 🥲

Nice hat John.
the LAX people mover should be a variant of heathow pod. they should also extend it to sofi stadium.
You're obviously not familiar with the APM route. Extending it to SoFi is not remotely practical and makes no sense.
Those streets by SO FI are made for walking, as long as you wait for Red lights to turn Green for walking.
