- I thought taking Greyhound from San Francisco to Los Angeles would be horrible. But, was I right?

I'm a retired BART Train Operator, and several times I had passengers approach me concerned if my train will make it in time for them to catch the bus to Los Angeles. Luckily my train arrived there about twenty minutes before departure. Glad to see that you made it!!!! I took it from the Bus Depot in Downtown Oakland on San Pablo Avenue once in the 80's to Los Angeles and had a great time. It was so much fun meeting different people, I sat behind the driver who was really nice.
Your lucky no national bus service in Canada
The last time I rode Greyhound was 41 years ago. They had a $50 round trip special to anywhere in the contiguous US, so I rode from Los Angeles to Newark, New Jersey and then took a People Express 747 to London for $149. It was pretty exhausting, but also a lot of fun for a 17-year old right out of high school.
In 1976 My wife and myself and baby did the same trip LA TO NY then onto Ct it was the most miserable trip in my life Stucky's food sucks crying kid drunks druggy's Christ I thought flying to Vietnam was bad.
Me too while a student at Stanford took the night bus to visit my girlfriend in Los Angeles Coalinga was the midpoint for a pee break. Not enough bathroom capacity so we lined up to pee on the wall of that convenience store.
Omg! You just described my life. I remember Peoples Express. I use to take it all the time. Super cheap! You did the $50 greyhound trip too? Great deal to pass up huh! Wow! What a coincidence. I did the same trip but to NY. I always brag to people how cheap it was. I think I even got the ticket stub. I was young as well. It was an adventure for me. I loved it! California is absolutely spectacular. IMO it’s the most beautiful state besides my own NY.😂 But I will give it the edge. 😉This country is huge with each state with its own signature look. I met so many interesting people. I even found a boyfriend. 😂
The $50 round trips went away when Greyhound merged with Trailways and no longer had competition for long distance routes. Then the prices shot up, and why would anyone put up with a long crappy bus ride if it's not cheap? The bus riding experience was just as bad in those days, if not worse, but at least it was a cheap way to travel.
THAT'S AWSOME 😊
Years ago, my wife and I rode a bus from Puerto Vallarta to Guadalajara. It was, as I recall, a 1st class bus. The seats were amazingly comfortable, they had a rolling cart and an attendant to hand out snacks and drinks - just like flying! It was quite the experience!
Took the bus from Albuquerque to Mexico City in the early 1980s. In Juarez we changed to a Mexican bus, 20+ year old ex Greyhound (still could see the faded GH livery) with no exhaust. People in the rear were passing out from carbon monoxide. It was like a scene out of Apocolypse Now.
@ Yep, they’ve got that level of bus service in Mexico too. After the 1st class bus, we later rode on a 70s city bus from Guadalajara to the town of Tequila for a day trip. All the windows open, and a menagerie inside with chickens flying around, dogs barking! More than a bit crazy for this gringo.
Tequila was pretty fun.
By the time we got back on the bus, headed back, it was dusk and getting dark. Just wanted to get back alive. Very intense.

Underrated option: BART to Amtrak San Joaquins to Bakersfield and then bus to LA. Takes about 9 hrs from Oakland and costs about $45 with advance booking. Most of the journey is on Amtrak and pretty comfortable. Amtrak bus is more reliable than Greyhound.
If only the Tehachapi Loop were opened to passenger service, the train would be direct to LA
I was just about to say same. I’ve done that trip several times. Always enjoyable. Or the Coast Starlight. I’m 6’5”. I need room.
@@gparyani a train through the tehachapi loop from the bay area would be like 11 hours to LA, buses are better from bakersfield
Also love that the bus connection is guaranteed and won't leave until the train gets there. I hate when delays make me miss a connection and end up with even worse delays.
@@griffin3607 Overnight sleeper trains are a thing
Appreciate your love for the Bay (and CA as whole)
Thanks!!!
CA LOVE BABBYYYY

No, dude, it's not worth it. Next time, send your package through FedEx.
California is a shiiiiithole dude now
love to see someone having fun and delivering a mysterious bag
Flixbus owns Greyhound now. I love the overnight busses, leave the Bay Area at night and wake up in LA
So sleeping on a bus seat doesn't bother you? What kind of quality sleep can you possibly get that way?
Bus sleep is 20 minutes of good sleep. After that you’re tossing and turning-5 minutes here and there. Bottom line-nothing beats your own bed
@@sfmc98 I usually manage to get a few hours on overnight busses. I worked graveyard shifts for many years so my sleep is already messed up 😂
Yea I wouldn't able to sleep on a bus after seeing that story of that dude beheading that poor kid on that bus in Canada....
Would u say it is better now? i'm german and i know flixbus here. i had big fear that greyound will change negative.
Sir, that is Pico Robertson. The bougie houses south of us are Beverlywood. Also, I can’t believe you were literally around the corner from my place! That’s wild. Great video as always.
Yeah I learned that a couple days later. It's only that specific HOA right? Those houses are nuts!
i recommend taking San Joaquins Amtrak from Oakland to Bakersfield and amtrak thruway bus connection to LA Union station. Takes the same amount of time, but you only spend like 2 final hours on the bus, the rest is a wonderful train ride with views, plenty of space and food. Also, the bus is obligated to wait for the train, so you won’t miss it, if the train is late for some reason.
I rode this same bus a week or so before you did. The PA system did the same thing and i recognized the old bus drivers voice too! Its great to see other people have the same experience and make a vlog about out.
I once took greyhound from LA to Portland, Oregon. Once is the key word.
mine was Sacramento to Portland and yes once and I am good. I saw all I wanted to see in Red Bluff.
Mine was from Tulsa, OK to Salem, OR. After fare I realized I only had a Ten left for food for 3 days. It was a miserable 3 days. Fortunately a nice lady I traded seats with in LA fixed me up with a lot of Micky 'ds in Modesto (?).
@@jackiec3973 The train from LA to Portland is so much better. It's still a lot slower than flying, but way easier than driving.
Wow, i just flew from LA to Portland Oregon last year. I can't imagine taking the bus. That sounds absolutely brutal!
Look at that incredible thumbnail that doesn't suck! In college I'd take the Greyhound from Lafayette to Indy a few times, not glamorous but cheap, and totally fine for that short one-hour trip.
Another great video man, been binging your stuff since the Yosemite video. Looking forward to what you can do with increased viewers and funds!
Thanks, and glad to have you along for the ride!
I‘m so happy that you find your greyhound trips wonderful. I think it’s wonderful that you are making these videos for the public, traveling Taking the public transportation can be fun!

I’ve taken so many Greyhounds in my life, but none since maybe 2005 or 2006. It’s a necessity for so many people that is slowly disappearing and I’m not sure there’s a suitable replacement anywhere on the horizon for most of America.
Glad to see you made it! And hooray for music upgrades. The videogame vibes were fun!
Hahaha, thanks!
Growing up in the Bay I was always so curious about all the possible public transit options. For kicks and giggles I tried a lot during the pandemic and with enough knowledge and know how, you can get almost anywhere! Thanks for showing this side of the Bay, hoping more can appreciate and try to use the BART/Buses and not clog up the highways instead.
You really can! And for me it's much less stressful than driving myself
Oh yeah. I do that all the time except for work cuz I get off late and tiny
As a tourist I agree 100%. Earlier this year I came to SF & to get around I used BART trains, Amtrak Capitol Corridor train, Golden Gate buses, Tri-Delta buses, the harbor ferries, and 3 Uber trips. Not for one minute did I wish that I'd hired a rental car. 😀
@brentsummers7377 you- you used Tri-Delta?
Dang you're braver than me, and i had to use that system for 3-ish years.
@@brentsummers7377Yeah it's all easy breezy until you're stranded at Rodeo Beach in Marin Headlands with no Uber driver accepting your request and you have to beg a group of strangers to take you to the nearest bus stop. But who needs a rental car amirite...
Too many stops.
"What's in the bag! 😂
Last took greyhound when I was a college student decades ago. Not terrible, but don’t sit near the back of the bus.
Also, inspired by your channel took my kids on a Metrolink trip to Union Station on Thanksgiving from Claremont. Smooth and scenic ride. My son loved it! Thanks!
That's awesome! Thank you for telling me!
In 1975, mum and i had a 15 day holiday from Sydney, Australia to California, Nevada, and Arizona, travelling on a GREYHOUND Bus . We drove from Los Angeles on interstate 5. Then a left turn to Gilroy, San Jose, arriving at San Francisco. From San Francisco to Yosemite, via Oakdale, and Groveland. From Yosemite to Fresno, Tulare, and Bakersfield. Bakersfield to Barstow, then on interstate 15 to Las Vegas. From Las Vegas to Kingman on highway 93 .Kingman to Flagstaff. Flagstaff to The Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon back to Kingman. Kingman to Barstow on interstate 40. Barstow to Victorville, to San Bernadino, then interstate 10 back to Las Angeles. . Los Angeles to Anaheim,
We had to fly on a UTA McDonell Douglas DC8 from Sydney ( 6.pm) to Auckland. After about one hour we flew from Auckland to Papeete, Tahiti (arrive about 6AM. At 9 AM we flew from Papeete to Los Angeles on a UTA DC-10-30, arriving Los Angeles about 6 PM.
Going home from Los Angeles to Tahiti, to Fiji, to New Caladonia, to Sydney,
The Bus we drove in was nothing like the one you took, Of cause things change after 49 years. But we had the time of our lives .The people were so friendly. I cant believe how much Las Vegas has changed. It is full of skyscrapers.
I'm exhausted just reading that. I can't imagine actually living it!
@@rkgaustin Every minute of that holiday was an adventure. Life was different back then. The bus driver was so friendly. The tour guide looked after us non stop. Every passenger was friendly with each other. There was not one complaint. Today, people want everything at a moment's notice. They stick to themselves . and don't mix very well. and are always complaining.
Sounds painful
@@grazz7865 Why would you say that ? What is wrong with people today ?
@@Robert-r4s4c way too much traveling. More exhausting than fun.
Never expected to see a wholesome video about a guy bringing a mystery bag on a bus but I'm not disappointed.
7:35 that guy is looking RIGHT into the camera hahahaha
Lmaooo 😂
Took this one time & the bus literally broke down on the 5 in the middle of absolute nowhere!! Had to wait SEVEN HOURS for a replacement. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Glad your experience wasn't as bad.
I was fully expecting that to happen to me, but glad it didn't!
@@Timmie360 you can say this about any form of transportation.
Flights get delayed all the time, sometimes even canceled. Amtrak? Usually always delayed. Stuff happens, It’s just part of travel
@@dancsaldana I have had cancelled flights. Got a cushy hotel.
I've even been on an Amtrak that was delayed in SLC. But they kept the AC on.
The Greyhound in Central California 10 miles from anything without AC on the side of a busy freeway for hours is a NIGHTMARE. Whole different level of bad.
As a fairly new transplant to the Bay Area from NYC, and a public transit and geography fanatic...I have so much to learn here on the west coast, and your channel has been a great kicking off point!
Glad to hear it!
My aunt took Greyhound from Oakland to LA in July, and her bus left Oakland West around 11pm. There is definitely more than one a day.
And there's really little to no distinction between Greyhound and Flix, since it's the same company, and same booking. That gets you like 3 more routes a day.
That's not an irrigation canal. That's the California Water Project.
Funny this video popped up because I rode the Greyhound (well the Flixbus, but they're both operated by the same company) over Thanksgiving break, and thought it was well worth the price. Great watch, these videos always make me miss living in Oakland.
I know this video is about Greyhound, but the Amtrak San Joaquin service takes about the same amount of time and is a much more pleasant ride!
Sooooooo much this! Especially with their brand new Siemens trains!!!
I've taken it in a couple videos, it's a great option!
Your $1000 phone has an alarm.
Used to commute regularly between Sacramento and Santa Barbara - Pacheco Pass Hwy was always a highlight of the trip. The suddenness with which the central valley turns into these sweeping hills and then coastal forests near Gilroy is a great 40-50 mile stretch
YES! It's such an abrupt and welcome change
Yikes, I couldn't do the commute thru Pacheco pass every day.
Probably one of my favorite creators as of recently, I didn't even know buses were going down to LA, and for cheap as well! Nice Vid!
Thank you!
I've been all over the country on Greyhound, and loved it..
Nobody who lives or visits someone in Beverlywood would step foot on ANY bus.
Your music selection is amazing
Thank you!
i've only ever taken the SF-LA flixbus overnight so i'd be absolutely passed out the entire ride - so cool to actually see what it looks like in the daytime! but you should try the overnight bus since it'll address a lot of the issues with boredom and nausea you mention lol
Coalinga is the home of Harris Ranch, the biggest beef producer in California.
Lots of the central valley is used for growing feed (alfalfa and wheat and stuff for silage) for livestock like cattle. There's a guy from Hanford who does drone flyovers of the current construction on the High-Speed Rail project on his channel Jason Dronin Around, and he has crops labelled in his flyovers, which is really cool to see
Coalinga Junction is where a James Dean memorial is.
I remember passing that area with all the cows to the side of I-5 N side for the first time and my dad being like "There's your in n out" lmao
FOR THE INTERNET USE THE AIRPLANE MOOD , ITS THE ONLY WIFI YOUR GOING TO GET ON A GREYHOUND BUS!
I live in a remote rural area. Navigating public transit looked bewildering. Schedules, cards, stops, and leaving in exactly 3 minutes, no more no less.... confusing. You look like you were right on top of it all, bikes and everything. 😊
Another great video. Thank you. I hope you get 1 Millions subs soon.
Thank you!
My one experience 10 years ago with greyhound was pretty rough, they massively oversold the seats from SJ to LA. They turned me and about 20 other people away. Had to get a flight the next morning instead. They never refunded my fair either, they just gave me a credit but it expired before I could use it.
That's crazy. It's not hard to understand why they have such a poor reputation. But hopefully they've changed their ways
Dang, that almost happened to me in 2018! They also overbooked our bus. My friends and I were lucky we got there early and got on the bus, but I really did feel bad for the people they turned away
This was the most boring 17:04 minutes I've spent in YEARS!
Agree this was terrible.
I second that. Didn't get to even see what was in the bag.
Best New UA-camr for me! I am also living in the Bay currently in San Jose, Love the content!
Thank you!
Central Valley mentioned‼️‼️
As someone who now goes to school in the bay, I am ENJOYING your vids so much! Keep it up!
I’m with you on the hsr, I’m not waiting that long!
my dad used to drive Greyhound in California, and occasionally spent time with me by taking me along... yeah that was NOT fun at all. Took me places like SF to Fresno, which for a kid not yet in his teens (before portable electronic devices existed) absolutely sucked. And the few times he did Disneyland trips... didn't take... SMH.
0:17 casually just a telephone pole line with no pole, just the head of the pole
A long time ago. Greyhound used to operate LA-SF via US 101 and made every stop in every city along the way with a driver swap in San Luis Obispo. I used to drive the Flixbus. I hated it because the way Flixbus writes the schedules made it seem impossible to get on-time or near on-time. From what other drivers I know tell me, nothings changed. The bus you’re on is manufactured by Prevost in Quebec Canada. Prevost have an intresting suspension system that sways a lot. Greyhound uses their older better riding buses back east…because the Prevost are EPA/CARB compliant
That's good to know... and not surprising!
Really fun and wholesome content. Keep up the good work.
Thanks so much!
This is fantastic content ❤
I live in SF and I love watching your bay area and transportation videos.
6:00 I have a feeling it's too early in the video to make such a statement
I’ve driven it twice. I don’t think the bus would ever be on my list of transportation choices for heading to LA.
The new Amtrak San Joaquins is actually pretty great. They just got a bunch of premium European Siemens trains (same as on Brightline). They're pretty fantastic. You still need to transfer to a bus for the last short leg into LA, but it's an Amtrak Throughway bus that is orders of magnitude better than Greyhound and it's only for a short portion of the trip.
Try it! It actually stacks up pretty well to driving! Great experience.
I've driven it a few times too. It's the best option sometimes
We used to take the Greyhound bus every summer from downtown LA to Sacramento to visit my grandparents back in the 1960's. The bus would make multiple stops in all those towns in the central valley in the wee hours of the morning. But, I liked the sloped 2-tier busses that had the observation seats in the front. That was fun. Other than that, the trip was long and a not at all comfortable.
I took the bus from SF to Reno once. Very underrated and relaxing experience. Buses get slept on.
Man I love this channel
Thank you!
I also have a Bart beanie that I got at the BartMobile 20th anniversary celebration back in July. I should probably get a cap for when it gets warm again
Another Awesome Adam Adventure😀👍👌💯
Hopefully, one day, you'll get to do a video riding on the California High Speed Rail from SF to LA and back 🙏 🚄🚅🚆
Maybe one day!
and there getting a brightline trian going from LA to Las Vegas, there building them right now and be up and running by 2028.
8:00 When the high-speed rail's built, it'll go through the pacheco, but it'll go under a base tunnel like the goatherd tunnel in Switzerland, so you won't get much of the amazing 152 views on the train
I didn't know about any of your videos and saw the greyhound video. I knew it would be interesting since I haven't been on a greyhound for 39 years and had a great friend who was a driver. Thanks for the great video.
I actually was slightly shocked to see the video was filmed Nov 19th, so many travel videos these days are filmed months in advance and then slowly edited and released (nothing wrong with that) that a fast turnaround took me by surprise 😂
I dream of the day where I'm months ahead!
Great video. I've never taken the bus and I frequently go between these two places - maybe I should think about using it next time.
It's probably the cheapest way to go!
You should try doing a video from SF - LA solely on public transport. Would love to see that!
I figured out how to get from SF - Santa Maria. Still trying to work out the rest of the way.
No flights, no Amtrak, no greyhound / Flixbus. Only public transit busses, commuter busses, and commuter rail
I took the bus from LA to San Jose once, never again. It was pretty much as you described it, except I personally get car/motion sick if I don't look out the window and the shaking bus didn't help lol. On the way back from San Jose to LA I took the Amtrak and although it took all day I prefer it because it was so smooth, the internet was slightly better (although not by much) and I could get up and stretch my legs more often whereas I was losing my mind not getting up on the bus.
Please Adam. Helmet. I know it's not cool, but your noggin contains so many cooler ideas and such a wonderful sense of humor (I have come to really appreciate what you do here) and I'd hate to lose you as my virtual west coast buddy who adventures on public transit.
Loving this travelogue! What a great subject, and you're a fun story teller. I used to travel via Greyhounds throughout Texas - but decades ago. Glad to see they're still on the roads.
Why?
When you first said you wanted to run or walk a mile, I was thinking you were going to do it on the bus haha ya had us all sweatin' there that you wouldn't make it by 5! Phew. Great video, keep it up.
I thought about trying to get 10k steps on the bus, but that's probably not a way to make friends!
9:50 I fr thought you were getting left. Their reputation doing that is well known.
I was also worried that he would get left behind, doing that long jog during that Greyhound stretch stop! And yes I've also heard many stories about drivers leaving passengers behind, that didn't reboard the bus in time at the end of a stretch break.
I used to ride Greyhound in college, 40+ years ago. Generally not a great experience.
A few years ago, I needed to pick up a car in another state so I looked at Greyhound and booked a trip. I was surprised at how different the experience was. The stations were clean with a police presence. The food options had improved and the busses were very nice.
already dark at 5pm is bonkers to me as someone who lived in fixed daylight year round
make greyhound a series. definitely interested
I've taken one Amtrak sojourn. On a stop in Memphis I was able to walk a mile on the platform. I went back and forth. I also talked to the guy filling the locomotive with diesel. I've traveled a lot and I wish that I had been documenting them. From Bali, to Senegal to Yellowknife, NWT, I've seen a lot...
When I was in the Army, I'd get sent to places via Greyhound. When I was a young kid, my brother and I were sent to my grandparents, St Paul to La Crosse, WI. We were probably five and seven years old. Back in the '70's people could still smoke on planes, busses etc, and I hated it...
I'm liking these videos about either trains or long-distance bus travel still operating in the US.
Omg... you are going from one center of the universe to another. I take this route from San Jose to San Fernando... and go up to Santa Clarita and that's it for me.
Frisco native here! I took Greyhound from SF to LA back in the mid 2,000's and I gotta say that the greyhound buses definitely has upgraded.
Yay LA Metro and BBB! You can add the TAP card to your phone FYI. Great video!
Thank you! I'm absolutely going to do that
That was a fun watch ! Love your take on the various aspects makes me laugh at times ,, the whole idea perhaps !! Safe travels !
Learn Spanish and take the buses in Mexico. Luxurious! None of those ripped vinyl seats. 2 bathrooms, upholstered seats, screens with entertainment, wifi, reclining seats with leg rests, curtains to block the sun, etc. It's been years since I've taken Greyhound. Probably never again, LOL
This was a cute video that brings back good memories of my recent vacation in SF and LA. Subscribed!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you for this video Adam. I am a bit of an introvert so if I travel anywhere I will know what to expect, good and bad😊

I love your videos! Cow reviews when?
Cool seeing your greyhound experience! I think your video confirmed my assumption that it would suck, but it's nice to see it's doable. It'd be nice to see the cost of your trip vs. how much a flight would've been.

Its weird how Amtrak has better buses than Greyhound/FlixBus, better pickup points too
The buses are falling apart. Ripped seats, nonworking toilets, not stafff at large bus depots like Anaheim artic. No one to help you go to the rigt stall for the right bus.
Geat video Adam ! Thank you 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
This was a hoot - for me, not you!
When I was a kid (I’m 69), I took greyhound all the time. Most of my trips were from CA’s central coast (SLO, Santa Maria, Santa Barbara) up to Sacramento, via San Francisco.
Always an adventure. My brother and I traveled alone, from to the grandparents for the summer, then back home.
Different times.
Love the: Pulp Fiction reference; the “Bathroom Confessionals”; the goals you set; and the whispered tones of your journey. I may have to jump on a greyhound!
Thank you for bringing me along on your adventure!
This guy is a crybaby. If you are out to malign Greyhound, then don't use it.
You seem so mellow and relaxed. Do ever become angry and if so, can we see and hear your angry mood?
You just got another subscriber. Great production.
Back in summer 1993 my wife, two little kids, and I took the Greyhound from Tacoma, Wa to El Monte, CA. I will never do that again. Thanks to good friends, they paid for our one way flight home. I paid them back of course.
A lot has changed since I last rode a Greyhound Bus 50 years ago. In those days you didn't have to pay extra to choose a seat. One price for all seats. You could choose any seat you wanted as long as you weren't a smoker. But no matter where you sat, you still had to choke on the smoke from the smokers sitting in the back of the bus. It was a lot more crowded and there were a lot more Greyhound Buses in those days. Every time you stopped you had to note the bus number, so you got back on the right bus. There were always four or five buses at each rest stop. Some times the buses would stop to transfer passengers from one bus to another to balance out the loads. How Greyhound today stays in business today with so few passengers I have no idea.
I did it once 1970. I did not like it. I see it hasn’t changed.
My one and only Greyhound experience was terrible. It was about an hour or so late. They overbooked it, so there was confusion and yelling with some people. My seat was VERY used and provided no comfort. It was about a nine hour drive from Phoenix to LAX. I’d like to try it again, but man. First impressions goes a long way. Glad you had a better experience than me!
That sucks. I didn't know that did that
@ Well, this was 6 years ago. And as somebody pointed out, they’re owned by FlixBus now, so, I might give it another shot!
There's always a cast of characters on a Greyhound, however your trip looked pretty empty ! The guy behind you was certainly entertained based on the reflection in the window..... Not having Wi-Fi is a total bummer! Thanks for posting up.
couldn't figure out how to DM you. Video idea: 1 beer in every bay area county in 1 day via public transit.
how!!??
@@AdamDoesNotExist Not super sure. I was trying it out with a few different route ideas. Tricky cuz not sure what time places start serving beer lol. But so far my best route is: start in mountain view caltrain at 10am, beer 1, then up to millbrae for beer 2, then bart over to 12th street oakland for beer 3, then up to el cerrito for beer 4. If all that goes well, then bus from el cerrito to american canyon (napa county) for beer 5, and bus back down to vallejo (solano county) for beer 6. ferry back to sf for beer 7. ferry to larkspur for beer 8 and smart up to to petaluma for beer 9. Seems to be doable ending around 7pm. Except for potentially being stuck in petaluma at 7pm at night....might be more of a summertime idea. ¯\(ツ)/¯
Oh man, this reminds me so much of the last time I took Amtrak San Joaquins down to LA for an evening metal concert at the Wiltern, located at the same end of the metro line you were at. Best parts were remote work from the train until Bakersfield, got to LA with plenty of buffer for any delays, and the return journey departs Union Station at 01:00, so no LA hotel needed even if the show went late.
i rode Greyhound when I first came to the US in 1963. I was really impressed. Not so much with Trailways.
I love your videos, especially the ones about trains, transit, or otherwise just being on the move...also thank you for posting what kind of camera you're currently using. I'm looking to upgrade my camera for my own travel/vlog purposes.
PS - 11:10 - Gotta love those All Dressed chips from my home country, glad you enjoy them too!
In 2004 I rode the Greyhound from Phoenix, AZ to Dallas, TX. I remember the bus as being pretty full with several passengers taking up both of two seats. The bus stopped near Tucson and immigration inspectors came on the bus and asked for everyone's immigration status. There was another stop in El Paso, where we could get off the bus for a while. I don't remember the rest of the stops, but at a couple we could stretch our legs. The only food available was vending machines. You wouldn't really want to use this mode of travel if there was any alternative.
Back in the mid-late '90s I rode the Greyhound bus from Melbourne, Florida to Chicago, Illinois. We stopped at the Jax, Florida bus station which was in a bad part of town. We were told to put any personal items on our seats so the cleaning crew could clean the floors. I had a carry on bag so I put it on my seat. Upon return an hour later my bag was gone and I am 100% convinced that the driver was in on it. I raised hell and said I was going to call the Police. The driver told me that I would have to get off the bus and let him go & wait for the Police or I was welcome to stay on and continue to Chicago.I elected to stay onboard and arrived in Chicago with only the clothes I was wearing. Between my boss and a few of our customers I was loaned clothes to wear and given $100 to buy stuff in Walgreens. Bottom line MY security was not upheld at the Greyhound station and I have never and will never give Greyhound another penney of my money. I honestly felt that I was in the James Bond movie Live and Let Die that day!!
Beautiful video. I used to ride Greyhound as a kid (I had a car, but it was a little ratty and I was paranoid about it breaking down in between destinations). I've taken the Greyhound all the way from San Diego to Las Vegas, LA to SF, and San Diego to Washington. All in all, somewhat miserable experiences, but always much cheaper than other methods. Greyhounds are always oddly temperature controlled (it can be too hot or too cold and no inbetween), and because it's cheap you get a lot of people who just dont give a damn about their fellow passengers -- smokers, drinkers, loudmouths, people without headphones. But, it's cheap. Greyhounds always smell slightly stale with the scent of bathroom in the back.
I never truly enjoyed them but I liked their equalized utility-- they weren't too expensive. They always did feel kind of like what poor folks (like me) did in a pinch. Now I know that Greyhound doesn't have many lines anymore. One single bus line between LA and SF is criminal for how big those cities are, but I suppose most people dont have the means or the reason to travel between those huge cities anymore.
The greyhound bus is a rolling state prison ..ghetto af
Ahahahahaa
True dat mate..true dat
Reminds me of a movie caller ConAir with nicolas cage
Sweet home Alabama..
Short ride on Greyhound is not bad at all. I did that going from NYC to Atlantic City, NJ. However it does get uncomfortable when it’s an overnight journey on a crowded bus. But, I believe people are complaining more about reliability which Greyhound has lost.
I've taken greyhound into NYC and though I've never gotten there on time, at least you don't have to sit in traffic!
