This is so true! After I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, I quit all of my meds and went on an All-Poop diet. I call it the Crapivore diet. I also spend $350 a month on Dr. Shartadino's poop supplements. I no longer enjoy eating but I feel so much better!

I don't think they're killing them. Keto does seem to help negate hunger for many people and get junk food out the window, and get enough protein to stave off as much muscle loss as possible. But it's maybe not the ideal solution, just seems to get a lot of unhealthy people to a healthier place, no matter if it's not the healthiest diet.

I will say, I've done the carnivore and animal based thing and lost 17 pounds in two weeks and felt amazing. There are vegetables that give me bowel issues and gut pain after I eat them. For example, even though I love squash and zucchini, I've gotten extremely sick for two days after eating them. So I do stay away from those because of consistent problems when eating them. I do that--freeze the video, open a new tab, and google the name of the study. I don't always read the entire thing, but at the very least I check the abstract and conclusion, especially after videos by Greger, Taubes, Ludwig, and what's his name, the "pegan" guy, Hyman, and any other reductionist that I happen upon. I'm especially fond of CIM v. CICO rants. Then I look up the same topic and check Hall, Guyenet, and even Quackwatch for the super-reductionists.

And yeah, frequently you'll find the conclusion the researchers drew is entirely different than the conclusion the person citing the study is trying to draw. Typically, a person will yell "X is true, this study shows it!" and the conclusion of the study just reads "There appears to be a correlation X which may warrant further research as a topic of interest."

As a finance type, I’d be very happy with a mutual fund in which stock outcomes can be inversely related. The finance concept it the stock’s beta and a fund comprised of stocks with both positive and negative betas is a great fund over the longer term.
