Man what a wonderful day out on the water! Glad to see you catch some nice fish! Bass, Crappie and Pike! Pike are sooo much fun to catch! Great video Matt!!
@@MattStefanFishing You're welcome to come down here any time! When it hits freezing here, they literally close all the schools and businesses. You'd laugh. I thought it was funny, too, when I first moved down here. When I was growing up, we had only one snow day that I can remember. And that was because it snowed so much the power lines to the school snapped under the weight. I spent many below-zero mornings at the bus stop waiting for the bus to go to school.
Hi Matt, thanks for all your "cold" tips! I can use them also here in the Netherlands when it realy gets colder. Greetings from the Netherlands, Pat. 👊🏼👍🏼🇱🇺🎣🎣🎣
Great way to end the year!! Had a great day with the stunna several weeks ago. got my first double, and caught my pb trout with it! perch color! Multi species catcher for sure! Casts like a rocket! 🚀👍
Looks like a great day of fishing. I've been struggling in SE Wisconsin as a bank fisherman with the cold weather, and with future forecasts the season is coming to an end.
Thank you, I've been trying to get an answer to what size line you use on that oversized school when using straight floral. This will be a great help. Great timing, great video. One way or another you always have the answer. No need to respond.
It's good to see you throwing the stuna & getting bite after bite, I can't wait to go & try mine out next week, I'm going to fish everyday, I'm on vacation!
I like using a medium light spinning rod jerkbait fishing. Seems to cast further and the lighter rod keeps me from overworking the lure on retrieves. Not to mention it makes for some seriously fun fishing when you're bringing one in.
I told you that boat is going to be a fish catching machine, great outing too put the boat away for the winter excellent video. If you get down to Mudhole this winter look me up 👍
Have you tried the IXI shad from megabass? It's an awesome little jerkbait, shorter faster body than V110's & dives around 12' & silent. I've been doing pretty good with those guys. I never hear anyone talking about them & most online stores don't carry them for some reason? It's something different than V110+1's I'm looking forward using them this winter. It's just now getting chilly at night down here in southern SC low 40's at night mid 60's during day. I'm from Cincinnati OH so my second winter down here. I don't miss the cold & love that I can kayak fishing 12 months out of the year!
You gotta love a good jerkbait day on the water!!! Im with you, the Stunna has become my fav jerkbait by a pretty big margin, love that Northern lights color!!!
U gonna get new Lowrance active target transducer & the hds pro's when they come out?? Supposedly b released soon. The hds lives & active target transducer all have huge discount right now
I have always been terrible on setting hooks. But with fusion19 I don't have to have a good hook set, just lean into it av the fish and it sets just fine.
Man nice end to the season. May I ask what rod blank you're using, 1 or 2 power? Those are 1/2 oz lures but it looked like it works beautifully with the light line. All the best.
That was epic! I've never had a day like that. That medium light rod really did well with that jerkbait. If you don't mind me asking, what MHX rod model is that? I'd like to have a rod like that and try fishing jerkbaits. Thanks for putting these videos out for us.
how far should a typical cast with a jerkbait go? i was throwing one on thin braid and an 8 foot rod and was getting no distance...put it down after a few casts.
@@MattStefanFishing Thanks. I'm visiting my son at university in central Kansas and conditions right now are nearly identical to what you described. I'm here for two more weeks and don't know if the lakes we fish freeze over but am hoping to get some more fishing in before I go back to CA.
Well I just played the video again and it worked fine. Technology. Nice day with the jerkbait. I've fished jerkbaits for years but something has always been unsettling for me and that is I'm never satisfied to know when I have the bait at it's maximum depth.
The water was still 56 where I fished today In Massachusetts . It actually made the bite worse . 47 ideal for fall fishing cause it assure the lake has turned over completely .Today was 56 and the water was really mixed still . Stable weather is the key to fall and winter fishing and they bite better on cloudy windy days .
Nothing beats a good day catching them on jerkbaits! Good video Matt!
You got that right!
Great video Matt, thanks for everything you do for us!
My pleasure!
Man what a wonderful day out on the water! Glad to see you catch some nice fish! Bass, Crappie and Pike! Pike are sooo much fun to catch! Great video Matt!!
I caiught about 10 pike on this day but left them out of the video haha!
Wow. What a solid way to finish out your north country season! Thanks for the great season of course
You bet!
Man you were killing it. Come on down to Georgia I'll take you out , no ice here YET. Always great information keep it up. Tight lines.
sounds like fun!
Man I have had so much more success since I switched to spinning gear and lite line ! I appreciate the tips!
Good stuff!
Who says it's too cold to fish? I went out today and it was 41 degrees, cloudy, and 20+ mph winds. I was the only one out there. I caught a 5 pounder.
I wish we had 41 degrees here....it was in the 20's today

Fantastic!
Luv the action on that Rod blank ! What is it ?
thats a st. croix 6'6" premier ML spinning rod blank that I built and added 3 inches to.

Super video Matt, I am chomping at the bit to go fishing, gotta get me a couple Berklee jerks, it's like cold, thx Matt
Good luck!

have you always find it easy to pop the trebles out with your fingers instead of using the pliers?
yep!
Great day fishing. Thanks Matt

Awesome. Thanks for sharing
You bet!
Man great last day on the water looks like u had a blast!
I did!
Since you’re a northern fisherman I would love to see an episode from you about cold weather clothing for fishing in extreme temps.
Check out Striker Brands gear. Its amazing!
Awesome video and helpful! What size reel and gear ratio do you use?
i use the 30 size reel
Thats a chucking and winding video. Ya chuck one back in the lake and wind in another one😄. Nice Matt
Hahaha! my kinda video!
great job using a jerk bait, i always used to heavy line that was my problem, thank for the line info it will sure help me ,
Light line makes a huge difference
I told you that boat is going to be a fish catching machine, great outing too put the boat away for the winter excellent video. If you get down to Mudhole this winter look me up 👍
Will do! Im loving the new boat!!
Nothing but fun . Way to go matt.
thanks!
Thanks Matt! I really enjoyed the video. What clothing do you wear while fishing in cold weather?
Striker brands. its the best for cold weather!

yep they are SHARP!
In the future I would like to see the rod action when your working the baits
this is a 6'6" ML rod
Thanks Matt nice outing is that 6# straight fluro ? What length rod?
6 lb 100% berkley fluorocarbon with a 6'9" ML spinning rod
Just got into making my own rods. Which blank spinning rod do you use for throwing jerkbaits? Great video by the way...
I use the SJ812 SJ813 and a st croix 6'6" spinning rod premier blank
Nice. The Stunna and the +1 in Hankie Pankie is like cheating on my primary lake.
thats a good bait!
How many time do you real it before you start jerking or do you jerk as soon as hits the water ?
i reel it a few handle cranks to dive the jerkbait deeper
OMG so many fish! great job! ill bet your hands were cold. i went out this past weekend and my hands ended up so cold I could barley grip my rod! haha
yep!
Man nice end to the season. May I ask what rod blank you're using, 1 or 2 power? Those are 1/2 oz lures but it looked like it works beautifully with the light line. All the best.
i use several blanks for the jerkbaits. SJ812, SJ813 and a st croix 6'6" premier spinning rod blank
“Sitting there on that shelf” I’d mispronounce that phrase 8 times out of ten. 😊 Great video!
haha! thanks for watching!
I caught 3 nice keepers in 100+ degree weather (summer tournament) on Mark Twain lake. Using the Matt Shade Stunna 112
Nice!!

that was a st croix blank that i built. its a discontinued model unfortunatly. My other go to is the MHX Sj813 for jerkbaits
@@MattStefanFishing Thanks for the advice.
Great baits thanks for sharing 🎣 hopefully I can get out before having my wrist fused. After I 'll be laid up for a long time. Great video 📹
You can do it!
What MHX rod blank are you using for jerkbaits?
SJ813
Have you tried the SJ833 blank?
how far should a typical cast with a jerkbait go? i was throwing one on thin braid and an 8 foot rod and was getting no distance...put it down after a few casts.
Im casting 100 ft or more with my setup
8 lb. Mono- spinning. 10lb. Mono baitcasting...all u need...great casting distance...Sufix Elite, great jerkbait line
A day like that makes it hard to put the boat away.👍👍👍👍👍
Im really fighting putting the boat away but its snowing right now...
Good Lord you had a heck of a day
it was fun
How many jerkbaits do you loose to toothy critters when running 6-8# fluoro? I’ve caught some nice pike on a cutter 90
I caught about 10 pike on this day and lost one jerkbait.
Thanks for the tips i fish my jerkbaits on a spinning rod also
Nice!
What # test would you recommend?
I prefer 6 lb test
Does anyone know what state this is?
central Wisconsin

6lb test on a full size jb is impressive 💪

Try 2 lb test. Ultra impressive.
Wow such a great day:)

bummer
or your related to Randy B, lol.
The sound was good on my PC.
@@Surfer-727 I played the video later and it was fine
Why don’t they make a bluegill pattern? Berkeley lost the pond and small lakes market. A major corporation fail.
Maybe in the future
@@MattStefanFishing An ivy leage college degree can never trump common sense
The Stunner is proven winner! And better quality than the Megaass.
thanks for sharing!
“The weight transfer of this bait is better than pretty much any other jerkbait.”
Really? 😂😂😂
Did Berkley invent that weight transfer system? 🤔
i can throw this jerkbait further than any other jerkbait...i think thats in part to the weight transfer system. what else would it be?
@@MattStefanFishing Ok. Fair enough. Thanks for the great content.
I shared your video to a group I made on Facebook of one of the local lakes I fish, maybe help you out.
awesome! thanks!
