The one and only time I ever walked across that Abbey Road crossing was about 20 years ago, and I was going to do a service call at a job just round the corner. I walked across the crossing with my big toolbox and I felt vindicated that I have never had to do the 'touristy' walk across. I was actually walking over it for an actual purpose! It was a great feeling though!
27:45 I worked for a travel agent delivering tickets & passports throughout central London. On the day of Ringo's marriage, I told the agency that I needed to set off early, so they sorted out my deliveries earlier than usual. My plan was to sit on my motorbike across from the steps on the other side of Marylebone road, to see Ringo coming down the steps. I sat there for ages. Nothing happened. No Ringo. I can only assume he left via the back, or, maybe I got the time wrong.
I'd have to say that my favorite album is Rubber Soul. This was the first "mood" album in which the sounds they were experimented with and the lyrics of their songs grabbed me.
Really enjoyed your video - thank you! Few points in response - Paul still owns his home in Cavendish Avenue. Listing of the Abbey Road recording studio is a great thing but does not actually prevent alterations or demolition (simply means that formal consent is required). George and John only are mentioned on the Apple Shop EH blue plaque as they only include people who have passed away on them.
Tudor: thanks for posting. Too bad the Scotch of St. James isn't open anymore. Probably be cool to get inside. Have you ever heard of Larry Kane? He went on both world tours with The Beatles(the only press member). He wrote about his time with The Beatles in his book "Ticket To Ride". It's wroth reading. Cheers!🥨
When I was few years ago in London with school (already a big beatles fan) I took the train in that station and imagined seen a last beatles referenced place and then I really saw the church St Pancreas in the park.
Thank you for your amazing videos Tudor!. You let us know places that all Beatles fans around the world dream of knowing one day. I'm follow you from Uruguay. Greetings.
Tudor Smith is the 'me I don't have the guts to do', but I would love to have gone round all those locations and taken photos. He is doing what I wish I could do.
Thank you so much. It was a lot of fun and now I have so much more information cemented in my brain, if I'm every in London walking about and with someone else, I'll end up spouting off like a tour guide :-)

Love your videos. Ive always wanted to do a Beatles sights tour in London. I did get the great opportunity to go in Abbey Road Studios a couple of years ago and see Studio 2, so I'm grateful for that. Nice to see you're a respectful fan, not loitering outside Paul's house. Hats off to you sir!!
Yeah as I say; bad form. Leave the man alone and let’s enjoy his work from a distance (until we are invited in for a cup of tea 🤣). No Apple scruffing for me! I’d love to get inside Abbey Road. I’m hoping my son will arrange it soon, what with his mastering connections!
Another great video and like a few others have suggested. A nice and relaxing watch too. I've been meaning to devote a day or two for many years to stuff like this. We are pretty lucky London is so full of landmarks. I got around to visiting Karen Carpenter's old home where she sadly died but for me, it was the cover of the Now And Then album that got me visiting that place. You never think you would ever get a chance to visit somewhere so far away but like you, I'm really into the nostalgia of it all. I hope you make many more videos like this as they are very well put together, very informative and show things which I've not seen anyone else cover.
Thank you. I’m currently making plans for one more Beatles locations video which will of course be Liverpool. I wonder if I can find any info no one else has covered. Probably not but it’ll be worth doing anyway. Thank you for your encouraging comments. Much appreciated.
Another wonderful slice of Beatles history. Loved the shots of the station in particular! I remember I used to watch those Beatles films when the BBC used to air them in the mid to late 70s... this was pre VHS video recorders (although my uncle had some JVC model in 1977/78 which I remember cost about £650 or so - over £3000 in today's money) so you only saw them when they aired....
Ah those old VHS players. A sign of wealth of you had one back in the day. Now probably a treasured heirloom. And as time went by, you could pick them up really cheap. Hmm I wonder if there are any on eBay
@@TudorSmith tbh it was way too expensive for him too... he lived in a council house with his mother... The exact model was probably the JVC HR3000 which was the first VHS in UK I think.. When he passed away they discovered a whole treasure trove of long deleted programmes. I believe Lenny Henry even managed to find his New Faces debut because of Bob.

Thank you for this video. I was just in London for the first time, but did the museum tours mostly. This was next on my list but just ran out of time. I love London and plan to go back. Thank you for a sneak peak for my next visit

Thanks Tudor, Great video. Interesting the Church were they did the mad day out Photos. I often wonder if they ever open Friar Park for public tours some day, would be amazing. would love to visit all these sites one day. cheers.

Great stuff again Tudor.....you are brightening up this grey day in Fife for me. I oscillate between Rubber Soul & Abbey Road for my favourite. Many thanks for your efforts and uploads.
So glad I discovered your channel! Quite enjoyable and relaxing. My band and I came to the UK in August of 2017. We did a little Beatles tour and signed the wall outside of Abbey Road. Not many people there at all. It was a late weekday afternoon. We even walked right through the gate and posed on the steps. Our guitar player even walked inside and started chatting up the staff(I was WAY too nervous to go inside). Unfortunately, the street was undergoing construction and it was causing an issue with the crosswalk in that you couldn't get into the position in which the album photo was taken if you wanted to recreate it. I walked across but felt very self conscious and "touristy" doing it.
Wow sounds like you had quite an adventure! Amazing that you got to stand on the steps. One gate is now chained locked! Funny you say about feeling self conscious. I was filming and I think I didn't actually used the crossing at all...so I was jay walking lol!
@@TudorSmith We were on "tour" and only had 1 free day in London so we where pressed for time. It's imperative I return to England as a civilian so I can soak it all in. A serious Rock-N-Roll tour would take me at LEAST 5 days. Not only the Beatles sites but also Floyd and Sabbath.
Well done, great videos, i,ve done the London beatles tour and i,ve come to regard Liverpool as my second home. So watching these videos bring back so many happy memories.

This is another incredible video my friend! Wow!!! Amazing tour of this beautiful city and amazing Beatles sites!!!I’m so glad I found your awesome channel my friend.
Another great video. I always nip into this garden before catching my train home. The Hollyhocks are in the far left hand corner (you can see them against the tall building with the metal fire escape). My Hollyhocks are still flowering. :D
@@TudorSmith I think you were pointing at the correct wall, but it is just further along to your right. The Hollyhocks were still there (as is the building) when I visited a couple of years ago.
Thank you. If you do get to London there is so much to see. But of course this Beatles sites are a must-see, well Abbey Road at least if you don’t have time for anything else 😎
22:13: Paul and Ringo aren't named on the blue plaque because you have to have been dead for at least 20 years to be named on a UK blue plaque. I was also inspired to google the house on Cavendish Avenue - as of last winter, Paul still owns it. Thanks for the walk!
Thank you for the interesting tour. Pls do more of touring. I believe the reason they have to say "musician and song writer..." on the sign is because in case 100+ years from now some people may have no idea...lol but it would be sad
I almost saw Paul Mccartney once.I was on the North circular in the 70s and a big white american car went by.I recognised the number as MPL......He probably had a chauffeur, but I would liked to have thought he was in the back.Strange what you remember. Like the time I saw the life-size Pink Rolls Royce ,FAB 1 on the back of a low loader, many years ago from The Thunderbirds tv show.
It is funny what we remember eh? My sister-in-law was waiting for her dad off the London train with the pet Alsatian. Paul and Linda walk by her then stopped to talk to her while petting the dog. I was so envious of her lol
In 1964,a man walked into my dad's shop ,with tickets to see The Beatles. He bought 2 ,even though he wasn't a fan and found them quite annoying. I was very excited, until we found out they were forgeries.
Thank You Tudor for the lovely video. unfortunately i could not be here for the premiere but i m sure looking forward for part 2. By the way, my favourite Beatles album? its hard to tell......depends on my mood or.......God i love them all😃
Well i'm glad you were able to watch the video anyway! Yeah that album question is quite a tough one - especially when the mood changes. That being said I love the mix of the LOVE album and how it incorporates so many segments of multiple songs :-)
I’ve done a similar thing, but when I went, you could look through the glass in Paul McCartneys office, and on the walls hes got loads of cool artwork. There was one of Tug Of War and a really cool one of Helter Skelter but paired with a picture of George’s Magical Mystery Tour costume!
@@TudorSmith Ah, I couldn’t actually get a full look as there was a receptionist (or a “temporary Secretary” 😂)in there looking at me rather suspiciously!
As yourself, my #1 favorite is Abbey Road, always has been. And as mentioned in the comments in one your other vids, that Sgt. Pepper & Myst'ry Tour are like one album, but in two parts. And then the White LP, followed by Revolver, like goin backwards from Road. Soul, For Sale, Meet, and the least fave, Let it Be, And Submarine. But I had to buy Yesterday & Today and Beatles Again (aka Hey Jude) in order to have particular songs that were left off US releases, or were only issued as singles. (e.g.) Dr. Robert on Yesty & Tdy, I believe was a compilation LP with a couple new, but prerecorded songs. Same as Old Brown Shoe, Madonna and Hey Jules. had to purchase the-I called it Beatles Again. But LP's like that were not considered a "Studio Album" right? Jude was released in 1968? Submarine, I eventually had to get, because it had All you need, All together, Bulldog and Northern songs on it. I heard Martin's film compositions on side B once, but never again.
Thank you for the tour, I know just how much walking is involved with these locations! It would be nice to see 3 Saville Road in part 2 (rooftop concert) among numerous other sites. Are you utilising the Beatles London book for ideas? I heard it's a good read.
Yep that's on my list for part 2. I foolishly had many locations and thought I'd make all of them in one hit. It wasn't to be as I ran out of time. I've used info from Beatles forums, and basically the internet, and I created a google map of the locations. Link in the description of the video :-)
Great video. My favorite song from the 'Tremeloes' was their cover of the Cat Stevens song "Here Comes My Baby." By the way, "White Album" is my favorite.
I don’t know much about their music so I’ll have to check them out. What I failed to mention in my video was that Brian Poole & The Tremolos auditioned the same day as the Beatles and the fact that they were london(ish) based meant that the expenses for “operating” a band would be less. We’ll never know if this was the case, or that the Beatles were under par. Might be that Pete Best was drumming. 🤷🏻♂️
Спасибо за прогулку. Люблю СК. Битлз превзошли Моцарта в общей номинации. Они помогли жить людям и в СССР и во всем мире. Это настоящий гений и музыкальный и этический. Боже храни Короля.
Fantastic video! I suspect the wooden bench in the church at St Pancras is a replacement. The names on the plaque are clearly alphabetical on first name.
Unlike you I did re-enact the opening scene from A Hard Day's Night at Boston place, complete with George's dive into the pavement! Scratched up my knee doing it too!
Dear Tudor, I guess you are as crazy as me about these four guys. The only difference Is that I am from Guadalajara, México. So nice, nice to meet you. My humble name is Joe Burgueño. A big hug!❤
@@TudorSmith I know he once sat in it one night with Noel Gallagher. He tells the story here :-) ua-cam.com/video/staXTxCowBI/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BBCRadio6Music
Re Decca and Dick Rowe. George Harrison felt so sorry for him that he tipped Dick off to sign The Rolling Stones. So they didn't do too badly after rejecting the Fabs. And the tickets for Abbey Road were for the Abbey Road Lectures, which I attended in 2018, and I spent an evening in Studio 2 with lots of old studio gear (and instruments), listening to an excellent presentation. And I got into Studio control room, and a step up inside Studio 3 too! Paul jammed with George at Ringo's wedding and also played together on the Threetles recording sessions for Real Love and Free As A Bird.
@@TudorSmith And you have to do the Abbey Road Lectures, it's a truly amazing experience. To hear the A Day In Life piano final chord played on the original pianos is just mind blowing.
Thank you for this video. As well as being entertaining and informative, it's well filmed and edited with excellent sound. Thanks for going to all that effort. May I ask you what camera you are using? I was surprised to see it seemed to pan left and right with you after you set it down to talk at the Abbey Road location.
Thanks. I’m glad you found it informative. I use my trusty DJI Osmo Pocket (second hand off eBay lol) which shoots 4K and has face tracker functionality. Perfect for moving about and making it look like I have a camera team with me 😊 The sound is only good close up so I record my audio separately on a Zoom H1 and sync the audio and video in post.
@@TudorSmith Thanks Tudor. I did a double take when the camera panned round with you. I’ve subscribed to you now and look forward to catching up with your previous videos. Cheers!
The original take 2 opening lyrics to Hey Jude is "From the heart of the black country When I was a robber in Boston place you gathered round me with your fine embrace"
@@TudorSmith The 'robber' in question was that electrical "magician" ( can't remember his name ) who briefly made a name for himself by setting himself up as some kind of musical genius who would come to your studio and "improve" all your equipment for a small fee...in actual fact he was a snake-oil salesman whose tinkering made no difference to anything. He was based in Boston Place.

Thank you for the tour sir looking forward to part 2 .
Cheers! I'm hoping to get back to the city before the weekend is out. Could have part 2 quite soon
Another great video. I always nip into this garden before catching my train home. The Hollyhocks are in the far left hand corner (you can see them against the tall building with the metal fire escape). My Hollyhocks are still flowering. :D
Ah I was pointing in the wrong direction then. Thanks
@@TudorSmith I think you were pointing at the correct wall, but it is just further along to your right. The Hollyhocks were still there (as is the building) when I visited a couple of years ago.
I enjoyed watching this whilst listening to the help album on my turntable
What a great accompaniment - You'll have to do it again in part 2, as there are some Help locations coming up in the next video :)
Great Vlog enjoyed very much fab
Thank you 🙏
Great Video! Hopefully I will make the journey to London to see these sites one day.
Thank you. If you do get to London there is so much to see. But of course this Beatles sites are a must-see, well Abbey Road at least if you don’t have time for anything else 😎
Love your videos sir!
Thank you. Glad you like them!
Thanks Tudor, my daughter and i are coming to London in 2 years to go on some.Beatles tours!!perhaps we could have tea!!!
Tea for two eh?
I haven't seen such an interesting and entertaining video in a long time. Good work!
Thanks so much 🙏 I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Very interesting. Thanks T.
Thanks. I’m glad you found it interesting 👍
Enjoy your channel very much. Thanks!
Thanks for dropping by :)
Ta from Tampa, Florida, mate - great appreciated!
Cool, thanks 🙏
Great video.
I'm in Liverpool, and there are so many Beatles places to visit.
Blue plaques....you have to be deceased to be named on one.
22:13: Paul and Ringo aren't named on the blue plaque because you have to have been dead for at least 20 years to be named on a UK blue plaque. I was also inspired to google the house on Cavendish Avenue - as of last winter, Paul still owns it. Thanks for the walk!
Cool. Thanks for the update 👍
Such a great video. Thank you
Thank you 🙏
great videos u have here
Thanks
Wonderful vídeos, thanks!
Thanks for watching 🙏
Thank you for the interesting tour. Pls do more of touring. I believe the reason they have to say "musician and song writer..." on the sign is because in case 100+ years from now some people may have no idea...lol but it would be sad
Thank you for our amazing video 🙂
Glad you liked it 👍
Thanks Tudor.
Nice video, Looking forward to part 2.
Watch out for the premier 🤣
Loving all your videos!!!
Thank you 🙏
I'm coming back to Londis next December and I will look for your message! :D
Enjoy your trip. I wonder if my message will still be there?
@@TudorSmith Probably not, my own messages were wiped out mere months between visits over the years. Anyhow, lovely videos! 👏
Yeah I think they repaint the wall every few months don't they?
beatles,paul mccartney大好き。thank you🙃
Good choice. Abbey Road, formerly EMI Studios, are celebrating the 90th birthday.
Great interesting videos and information thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
Love this video new subscriber.
Thanks for subbing!
I’d heard that. I was hoping to see inside but it was all covered up 😕
@@TudorSmith Ah, I couldn’t actually get a full look as there was a receptionist (or a “temporary Secretary” 😂)in there looking at me rather suspiciously!
You should have said you were Mr Marks! :-)
@@TudorSmith haha! Yeah! 😁
I wish I saw this video before my trip. I did help paint the Abbey studios wall though. That was unique.
What? You painted the wall? Do you mean you by painted over all the peoples writings?
did the abbey road in the 80s my fave beatles lp is the white album
the song hey jude came out on my 8th birthday
Have you seen The Analogues on UA-cam performing the whole White Album? It’s majestic 👍
Just like Sun Studio in Memphis, Abbey Road is a historic landmark!
It should be preserved for future generations.
They are part of our cultural landscape eh?
@@TudorSmith Of Course! Aren’t they? Who is greater than Elvis and the Beatles? Nobody!
Brian Tremelo and the Pooles. I loved their music.
A one off band eh? 🤣
@@TudorSmith May have been many of a better class session musician.
Tony Sheridan perhaps.
It could be elementary! Good one on Baker Street. 😄
Ha yeah Tess, I like dropping those little nuggets in here and there 🤣
The superimpositions are very affective as a device well done.
I agree. It helped me to visualise how it looked then compared to now!
cool stuff
Cheers
Fantastic video! I suspect the wooden bench in the church at St Pancras is a replacement. The names on the plaque are clearly alphabetical on first name.
Thanks. Ah alphabetical order! That didnt occur to me at all 🤣
I've seen some of let it be,but some say never been seen,I'm sure others will have.
Unlike you I did re-enact the opening scene from A Hard Day's Night at Boston place, complete with George's dive into the pavement! Scratched up my knee doing it too!
HaHa well done. I wasn't prepared to risk it. Hopefully you weren't scarred for life! :-)
Nah I'm good - wish I still had the scar to remind me of that wonderful day :)
All great albums. Revolver is possibly the best.
Yes that was perhaps their groundbreaking moment.
Macca had his offices in Soho Square. Opposite my brother's law firm in the 80's.. Oh you went there. I wrote this before I saw this part of the vid.
Dear Tudor, I guess you are as crazy as me about these four guys. The only difference Is that I am from Guadalajara, México. So nice, nice to meet you. My humble name is Joe Burgueño. A big hug!❤
I don’t think you and I are the only ones crazy about the Fab Four 🤪
Hello to you in Mexico!
incredible...i can't believe you walked to so many locations in one day must of taken some research.
It was a lot of walking but I did my best to locate the points of interest that were close to each other. Thanks for watching 🙏
You can still see Paul McCartney's geodesic dome in the back garden of his Cavendish Avenue home on google earth :-)
Wow. I wonder if he sits in it when he’s at home!
@@TudorSmith I know he once sat in it one night with Noel Gallagher. He tells the story here :-)

Excellent - and yeah they [Decca] recouped some losses eh?
@@TudorSmith Just a tad 😉
Keep up the good work Tudor ✌️
@@TudorSmith And you have to do the Abbey Road Lectures, it's a truly amazing experience. To hear the A Day In Life piano final chord played on the original pianos is just mind blowing.
@@Slydeil I’d be up for that. I’ll have to look into it!
Cheers!
Wow thanks for subscribing!
The original take 2 opening lyrics to Hey Jude is "From the heart of the black country When I was a robber in Boston place
you gathered round me with your fine embrace"
I can see why the lyrics were changed! 🤣
Paul still owns seven Cavendish, but spends a lot of time in America, having two homes there, one new York,l.a.his youngest daughter lives there.
