5 Most Dangerous Cities in the UK

- What are the most dangerous cities to live in the United Kingdom? Ranking the United Kingdom as the 116th most dangerous country is not bad at all. That means the country is safer than, at least, 115 others in the world. Between 2020 and 2021 alone, it experienced 600 homicides as just one of the crimes reported that year. A total of 6.1 crimes were reported during that year. Out of these, 2 million were crimes against another person. If there were 67 million people in the UK during that year, the crime rate would be a whole 2,985 crimes per 100,000 people. However, it’s not everywhere in the UK that is dangerous. In this video, we will discuss those currently rated as the 5 most dangerous cities in the United Kingdom.
5. Nottingham
This city with links to the Robin Hood legend and which is famous for lacemaking and the tobacco industry is incidentally here. If we go by its population of 337,100, Nottingham that’s playing host to the headquarters of a number of major international businesses including Boots, E. On Energy, Pedigree Petfoods, and Gala Bingo, is the 14th largest city in the UK.
It’s the most dangerous major city in Nottinghamshire. Out of the 236 cities, towns, and villages in Nottinghamshire, it’s among the 20 most dangerous overall. In 2021, the overall crime rate in Nottingham was 114 crimes per 1,000 people. That was 49 percent higher than the crime rate in Nottinghamshire with a rate of 76 per 1,000 residents. Violence and sexual offenses are the most common crimes in Nottingham with 14,210 offenses during 2021, producing a crime rate of 45 per 1,000.
In 2020, a total of 34,228 crimes were committed with a crime rate of 108 per 1,000. In 2019, 42,113 were committed with a rate of 133. The year 2018 witnessed 41,970 crimes with a rate of 133. In 2017, the crime rate was 119 with 37,753 crimes. And in 2106, the total crime was 30,097 with a rate of 95 crimes per 1,000 people.
In December 2021, Nottingham was the most dangerous city for bicycle theft, with 52 crimes reported. That month was also a bad month for the city’s residents as it was the most dangerous area in Nottinghamshire for burglary while 110 of these crimes were committed. The city recorded 321 criminal damages and arsons still during December 2021.
4. Birmingham
We just have to agree with the inclusion of Birmingham on this list. This is a city with a population of about 1.1 million with an urban area having just over 2.6 million residents and a metropolitan area with a population of 3.5 million. Birmingham, despite having a coveted reputation as the first manufacturing city in the world some 200 to 150 years ago, is currently one of the most dangerous cities in the UK.
As the most dangerous major city in the West Midlands, Birmingham is among the 10 most dangerous overall out of the 44 cities, towns, and villages in the West Midlands. In 2021, the overall crime rate in this city was 137 crimes per 1,000 people. That was 17 percent higher than the West Midlands’ overall crime rate of 118 per 1,000 residents. Violence and sexual offenses are the most common crimes in Birmingham during 2021 when some 78,062 of these crimes were committed. That was a rate of 67 per 1,000 and was 38 percent higher than the 2020's figure.
Consider also the historical crime rate for Birmingham, not just what it had in 2021, and form your opinion. In 2020, a total of 123,271 crimes were committed with a crime rate of 106 per 1,000. In 2019, 120,832 were committed with a rate of 104 per 1,000 residents. The city in 2018 witnessed 114,605 crimes with a rate of 99. In 2017, the crime rate was 89 while 103,319 crimes took place. And in 2106, the total crime was 90,930 while at the rate of 78 crimes per 1,000 people.

Think anyone who lives in Britain is absolutely not surprised Birmingham is on this list.
Birmingham is rough city full of racist and chavs and crime everywhere.
Not at all surprised. Birmingham has had a huge dose of cultural enrichment.
@Abornazine Birmingham has loads of English people just areas are very racist and segregated with no integration at all. People live in thier cave mentality. Birmingham was not multicultural back then and now its divided as people are so bigoted and insecure and not a progressive city .
@@jonesroberts3640 The video is about crime, not attitudes. Segregation is not necessarily an index of offences.

Apparently, we are not allowed to say it.
Yeah Right you're not allowed to say the real reason as to why it's become increasingly dangerous and it's all connected with this asinine ideology known as "Political Correctness" which doesn't know good from bad, up from down, left from right, truth from lies, the list goes on.
How London isn’t on this list I’m SHOCKED

London is nowhere near as Bad as Birmingham or Manchester. Matter of fact Birmingham regularly overtakes London when it comes to Homicides even though Londone population is far larger
London has very wealthy areas that have virtually zero crime as luxury flats etc
Well they won’t put London on the list purely because of the population ….its not really England is it !
LONDON IS FAR MORE DANGEROUS THAN BIRMINGHAM AND MANCHESTER. CROYDON IS ONE OF THE WORST. THEY DON'T WANT TO MENTION LONDON, TO AVOID PUTTING TOURISTS OFF, GOING THERE. NOT ALL LONDON IS WEALTHY, IT ALL DEPENDS ON WHICH AREA OF LONDON, YOU GO TO.

I'm from Birmingham, and yes, like many other places in the UK, it has gotten worse over the last decade. But for there to be no London, Liverpool or Manchester listed here means this list should have been a top 10 most dangerous cities, not a top 5.
Yep, diversity is really working out well for Britain. Or are we not supposed to notice that ?

All the major cities have taken a big dive since the 1950s thanks to enrichment.
And spineless Governments...
it's due to the death of the highstreet and the rise of the internet, combined with an incompetent far-right tory government who actively bail out billionaires with tax cuts while purposefully dismantling the NHS.
And yet all you people are out here, voting for them, still.
You've been had mate; you all have.
Stats are too reliant on reported crimes. In the more dangerous areas it is less likely for someone to report a crime. e.g. some areas in Glasgow people don't report crimes because they are anti-police and 'snitches get stitches'.
yep. nottingham and coventy shouldn't even be on this list. replace them with liverpool blackpool and of course glasgow

In East Anglia, the tv says ‘there was a crime today in a city in our region’ it’s always Peterborough. If a town it’s Wisbech. The culprits are nearly always east European migrants. A woman was even murdered in the grounds of Sandringham when the Queen was still alive. She was Lithuanian and was killed by two other Lithuanians. We also have trouble with Albanians and Romanians.

When we're out filming we have to be conscious of where we are. We normally have cameras on the outside of the car as well as the ones running inside, but there's been a few times where we've had to pull all the cameras in and just use the inside ones because it was too dodgy. We have had a few places where they were too rough for us to be able to stay over as well. Normally, we'll film on the way to somewhere, stay overnight at that location, then do the same the next day but heading to a new location and so on. But a few times we've had to just keep driving because even if we made it through the night, the car wouldn't have!
We do our best to just film everywhere as we find it, but sometimes it's just not possible, because running down some streets with cameras pointing out in every direction, it just doesn't always go down well lol
Sad to see though.

This country has one of the highest retirement ages, the lowest pension return. The government (all parties) have made such a mess of immigration that the NHS is on its knees and the streets are so dangerous you hardly dare venture out. This will get significantly worse in years to come. By the the grossly paid MPs will have left the country to crumble. How were they allowed to let this happen.
The NHS has been deliberately destroyed they are finishing off what Twatcher started the complete privatisation of the NHS.

Bradford had no go areas since the 80s so it doesnt supprise me it the top of the list.
I used to live in cov and now I live right next to it and still go to school there and here is the thing. As long as u don’t go anywhere dodgy at night u safe, there is a little bit of gang sh*t but normal ppl r barely affected at all. Ngl the ppl there r really nice aswell. And I would happily go to the park with my friends in yr 6 without any problem ( tbf I lived in a pretty well of neighbourhood ). It is also a really nice place to visit with the cathedral and other ruins ( from when in ww2 the city was bombed for 13 hours straight) and the transport museum and a decent amount of other places to go to. So overall cov is a pretty nice place as long as u don’t get into gang sh* t of go to dodgy areas at night. Tbh I think Luton should be number one on that list bc THAT IS A SH*t place.
I am a brummie , but i now live abroad. I still go back at least twice a year. It all depends where you go in brum, as far as i am concerned its very safe, but some parts of the city i tend to avoid, eg bartley green, parts of quinton, kingstanding, and gospel oak.
Those are the poshest least dangerous parts of Birmingham ever. You ever seen Alum Rock, Aston, Ladywood, Sparkbrook, Handsworth, Highgate. Nechells, Newtown and Winson Green? These areas I just mentioned are the real dangerous parts of Birmingham

I’m around notingham the amount of street fights that happen over where I am are insane, also can’t forget to mention that murder that happened around town a couple months ago one of the u guys that was killed was my old school care taker.
As a Coventrian I can attest to the increase in violent crime in the city. Looking at the names of the offenders as they are processed through the courts it is clear that the local Labour councils enthusiasm for taking in thousands of 'asylum seekers' has a downside that was to be expected. The difference in cultural values is apparent and I imagine that many cities taking in people of different cultures are seeing the same thing. The rate at which immigrants can be assimilated into British culture did not stand a chance against successive governments who were either ideologically in favour or seeking a cheap labour market. I suspect that it is now too late to close the doors as the damage has already been done. The falling birth rate among the indiginous population would suggest that by next century this country will not be even superficially British.
Doors can be opened to exit as well as enter, nothing stopping a determined government from removing the unnecessary
ridiculous assertion

You sound about as naive as they come. You really must read the fable of the lion and the donkey…how the donkey believed the the grass was not green, but red…
The reason crime has increased is down to lack of justice, short prison sentences has overcrowded the prisons, due to no deterrent. Over population is also a major factor.
Miscarriages of justice caused by dishonest lawyers contributes too.
Road traffic problems put people in prison too.

This is a great video on how to distort statistics. Comparing the second biggest city in Britain with far smaller cities does not take account of the fact that big cities have more social problems as council budgets are spread thinner. Even comparing different areas of Birmingham would show enormous disparities in crime rates. You talk about dangerous cities but include all crime rates not violent crime rates. By the way, I have lived in Birmingham for 61 of my 68 years, and do not have a single friend who has been a violent crime victim, and I assure you we all socialise in the city centre as well as our local areas.

I wouldn’t say any city in the UK is “dangerous”
The UK population is blinkered and shielded/blinded from opportunities. Certainly for many UK residents, there are few chances to advance and rise up from their miserable environment. Not surprisingly they resort to escapism (such as having many children) which just compounds their problems. We see an inwardly spiralling decay,, with the government providing just a soap opera of scandals. One might as well get rid of most of the government offices - the country would hardly be less prosperous.

As someone from Rotherham I was a bit surprised as I would consider Sheffield to be more dangerous than donny

Is this competition still running?
Got the stats wrong right at the start 😂 if the uk was 115th most dangerous how can there be 115 countries worse than the UK shouldn't it be 114 ... but I think its spot on with the top 5
How can Bradfod be the nuber one most dangerous city in Europes but only be 'among' the top 5 most dangerous cities in West Yorkshire?

Lots of genuine photos of sights of Nottingham, including the Council House building in “Slab Square” but starts with a total blooper! Quite apart from adverts in Cyrillic script for the Promsvyazbank or PSB, The shot is clearly of Saint Isaac’s Cathedral in Saint Petersburg! Didn’t anyone notice?
I did, I was shook! Did someone do an image search based on the council house?
I’m a little sad about Doncaster being on this List
Fun fact: Flying Scotsman was built there
Plymouth known for been a bit punchy at weekends 🥊🥊🥊
So is everything but Plymouth is one of the leats punchy places in the uk
I hope Doncaster is on this list lol
You from Donny aswel lad..... cantley me but born in stainforth....
It is.
@@jamiecole4393 Doncaster is not Bad - depends area. Some affluent areas
@@dac8939 I grew up in stainforth mate..but live in bessecarr now....but lived in balby, Hyde park, dunscroft, moorends, Thorne, Wheatley and maybe couple other areas so I know mate...do you live in Donny Lad?...
@@jamiecole4393 No New York but did as a kid in Doncaster. Parts of Balby have new builds and would be middle class. Also Bawtry road has multi million pound properties where doctors, company owners etc live
This trend will continue to get worse due to there being no effective deterrent, the justice system needs to be brought out of the Victorian era, and the Uk Gov needs to wake up to these ever increasing figures. In short, far to soft on these criminals.
