Beastie Boys- Paul Revere The REAL BEAT exclusive

- After doing much research on Def Jam artist (School Project) I found out that Rev Run of Run DMC
accidentally reversed The "Paul Revere" Beat. After Downloading Audacity, I downloded The instrumental and Re-reversed it
It was recorded at Chung King House of Metal. There was no Def Jam Studio. Peace.
...But Yauch recorded this beat, bounced it to another tape, flipped it around - this is pre-digital sampling - and bounced it back to the multi-track tape. The reversed beat basically became "Paul Revere." Yauch saw this thing we couldn't see - and he killed it.
RIP MCA!

Truth
I was blessed to see the beasties boys 3 TIMES this record live is mind blowing..RIP MCA🙏
you're actually wrong, I watched an interview about it, MCA listened to it and reversed it to know what it would sound like and kept it and it became Paul Revere
This is correct.
Correct - see my two comments comment above about Mike D in the Rolling Stone interview from 2012 where he describes how MCA did it.
the funny part is that reversed or regular, both beats are fucking AMAZING.
Facts
both directions definitely dope. hope someone could overlay their acapella on top the original-frontway
Both sound sick as fuck
i want to hear the song with the vocals and evryting in reverse.
ProduccionesPinpon I was thinking the same...
I always wanted to hear this thank you
Description in details is not entirely true. It was no accident, and it was MCA's idea. True story as told by Mike D in his May 23 2012 Rolling Stone Interview:
We were playing around with this 808 drum machine. We had this beat, and Yauch said, "I'd like to hear what it would sound like backwards." Run from Run-D.M.C. was there, and he was like, "Man, this is crazy."... (cont.)
I always thought Rick Rubin played the instrumental of T-La Rock "It's Yours" backwards
That answered a question I've had for YEARS!!!
The beat sounds strange forward but, when programming a rhythm pattern to play backwards your counts have to be done backwards also, in a sense. Instead of bar 4 of a 4/4 pattern, being your "fill" it's bar 1 when programming for a 'reverse' beat song.
any DJ who has this on wax who knows how to mix, discovered this long time ago sir. ..just ask king Shameek..doit to the crowd
There has to be a much louder full instrumental of this available besides the other...
yes, just yes
i still think it sounds better reversed lol
very cool info
Props to MCA for this one fam tfff
I always wondered what this beat would sound like in its normal sound.
Get the album on vinyl and you can reverse it by hand 🤣👍🏼
Awesome
That's bullshit!! Rick Ruben with his unorthodox style programed it that way. When you reversed it the high hats were playing backwards now.
Nice 🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
Either way the shyt still sounds dope.
wub, wub wub wub wub wub
Xavier••• One too many wubs bruh.
It's Wub wub wub wub-wub... hehe
0:17 what do they call that sound?
Idk but it’s in lots of trap songs nowadays like flatbed freestyle and mileage
Rev did this beat???? 😮😮😮😮
mint
Watch the 808 Documentary, they interview Mike D and Adrock and they talk about how the beat was made...check it out y'all...great documentary too! ...about the LEGENDARY Roland TR-808!
E40 jump my bone
Beastie Boys would have made it work either way.
Those here with experience in Music production will understand that this is true.
But it's not true in the least
Its not. MCA made it with a drum machine and played it backwards. He was crazy experimental. Why are others always being credit for the Beastie boys accolades?
put the song on the first beat and it still is the shit
Snore so there you go
Great idea to play it backwards... Im just sayin...
Sounds like LL Cool J You'll Rock
this is complete bullocks...
no, just no
Stop trying to change good music..... Lol
Both versions funky
