MAM i have a doubt :- 1) the convergent plates will lead to earthquake because they collide each other, BUt how divergent plate leads to earthquake as they do not collide each other?
Its bcz as the diverng plates moves away they are actually streching away from each other.this streching inturn creates tension which will ultimatly results in the release of energy
Mam your lecture is very good. But the animations have very bright color or there is board light. due that animation looks like a white patch on the board. so if anything can be done, please do. if it is your own developed animation then color can be changed.

Mam, what about the relative humidity in siberian type climate? In Gc leong it is mentioned that the relative humidity will be high but mam since the temperature is very cold there,so how can the humidity will be more?I know this is out of the box question but i will be obliged if you clear this doubt.

Because S wave velocity depend directly on the shear modulus of the material from which it passes through. Liquids and gases has zero shear modulus so Vs = 0 Because Vs= root( shear modulus/ density of material)

Strain is cause and stress is an effect

why s wave can't move through liquid and gas
Because S wave velocity depend directly on the shear modulus of the material from which it passes through. Liquids and gases has zero shear modulus so Vs = 0 Because Vs= root( shear modulus/ density of material)
