This opera, turandot, can be seen at movie theatres across the country this wednesday through the metropolitan opera Broadcasts.
That is a short aria. THE GREATEST. A lifetime of training and practice.
Beautiful, ain't it?
Irecomned Pavarottti and James Brown doing ITS A MANS WORLD as a duet.
He was an older man there. Hes more fantastic younger. Best tone ever, breaks my heart everytime.
The LA concert was in front of Sinatra, Gene Kelly & many others. Tjey did american songs too. One if the 3 tenors sang My Way & Sinatra gave a standing ovation
Good point. music is just music 👍
One of the most famous 'aria', played often to introduce sport events.
Great reaction! I am glad to see you trying opera. Pavarotti certainly made Nessun Dorma famous around the world, he does a pretty good job. However, Nessun Dorma was not actually an aria meant for Pavarotti. Let me try and explain he made it famous, but he would not really perform the whole role live on stage, from where this aria came from. In an opera house you want a dramatic tenor to sing this role and Pavarotti was a light lyric tenor. Turandot was Puccini's biggest opera with the biggest orchestra of around 90 instruments, including brass, so you need quite a big voice to sing over this instrumentation effectively. Let us just say that a heavier voice adds a lot of pathos to this songs.
The singer who was best known for this role was Franco Corelli. I suggest you try his Nessun Dorma. Search for "Franco Corelli - Nessun Dorma (Unbelievable)", you can also try "E Lucevan Le Stelle" (from Tosca)- Franco Corelli. If you want hear something that Pavarotti actually excelled at I would suggest Pavarotti - "Che Gelida Manina" (La Boheme). All of these suggestions are some of the most popular arias.
Nonsense! Actually Pavarotti did perform the opera live, and in fact Pavarotti’s recording of Turandot along with Zubin Mehta, Sutherland and Caballe in 1972 is critically acclaimed as one one the finest recordings of all time!! Your opinion and taste fair enough, don’t put it as a fact.
Si quieres escuchar algo más de ópera, te recomiendo las siguientes: 1. O Mío Babbino Caro con Andre Rieu y Amira Willighagen. 2. Time To Say Goodbye con Sarah Brightman y Andrea Bocelli. 3. Flowers Duet con Amira Willighagen y Corlea Botha. Saludos desde Ciudad de Guatemala en Centro América.
❤❤❤
In the story he challenges the queen: "if you will guess my name within the end of the night you can killl me"
I think there was a whole verse missing from the vid you saw. This YT vid is better - 'Luciano Pavarotti sings "Nessun dorma" from Turandot (The Three Tenors in Concert 1994)'
Nothing missing from the tenor's role. Just before 7:30 there was an orchestra instrumental for a bit where in the opera itself there would be a chorus representing the locals worrying that if they didn't find out Calaf's name THEY would die. Il nome suo nessun sapra. Ed do novreim ahime morir, morir. Then the tenor comes back in. But that's often skipped in concerts. Yes, they had a chorus do it in '94.
dear Z pszzzz!
Vincero`, vinceeeero` i will win, l will win. Giacomo Puccini Turandot.
Playback speed is a little slow..
I thinl you don't touch this.
Not a good version. The 1994 version in Paris was much better.
