People keep on saying retainers are not Samurai these people don't know what retainers are.
In Samurai culture retainers are often used to secure the future of the clan incase the Dimeo died. You only got to be a retainer if you are see as somebody who was extremely loyal for example Toyotomi Hioshi was Nobunaga's retainer. Hioshi is the guy who went onto unite Japan. There is a statue erected of him just outside Osaka Castle. Tokugawa was Hideyoshi's retainer. What are all of these guys? They are Samurai. So people saying he wasn't a Samurai he was a retainer, a retainer can be a Samurai the word is literally just used to secure a Clans future in case the top guy dies.
People saying retainers are not Samurai make no sense Oda's retainers are Samurai so if Yasuke was not a Samurai neither was Hideyoshi and obviously that is not true.
For example Kashinden was a institution of retainers now this later became a class of Samurai. So there was different classes , there was different ranks but simply saying retainers are not Samurai is not true I woukd highly advice anyone who hasn't seen the Netflix show: The Age Of Samurai which depics 150 years of civil war in Japan.

Huh dude wasn’t just a “pet” he was actually very high and well regarded. He was around the same class as a samurai, we don’t know if he was or wasn’t a samurai because we don’t have enough information. It is highly debated. Notably during the time period he was alive they didn’t use the word samurai often instead using other words (which could refer to a samurai, it’s a rectangle square situation with the words) some which were used for him, it why there is still a massive debate in academia about if he was a samurai. Being this butt hurt is wild especially for the same game series that gave us Washington using magic to try and take over the USA 😂
I'm tired of these arguments. The Washington thing was a DLC that was basically a dream sequence, they didn't try to pass it off as something that historically could have remotely happened. It doesn't even line up with any historical shit that happened in the main game. Dude was NOT highly regarded. He was essentially a fun plaything for Nobunaga to show off to other nobles at parties for them to gawk at. I'm sure he did some cool shit, there is evidence he did, but a lot of people love to pretend he was this high ranking dude, when he just wasn't. Also, it's obvious why they chose him instead of doing a non historical MC like EVERY GAME IN THE SERIES. It's obvious pandering, which is fine, but to pretend it isn't, is just being obtuse. Nobunaga granted Yasuke a house with servants, a horse, and his own sword. As the retainer of Oda himself, he was given an honorable purpose, higher than even many of the traditional samurai. Retainers are still samurai however, and Yasuke did infact see time in battle. Not much is known about where he went after Nobunaga's betrayal and death. I love studying samurai, and Yasuke is by far my favorite, so i at least enjoy the opportunity to discuss him

We do not have enough evidence as to whether he was or was not a samurai both are just as accurate. We do know he was very well respected and high class being around the same league as a samurai. It’s not uncommon for him to be depicted as a samurai even in Japan.

The Last Samurai implies Tom Cruise by the posters and marketing in 2003. Then you watch it and are supposed to get that the title is named after the men Tom Cruise's character joins.

Miles Morales is a legitimate character in Marvel, what Synthetic Man meant by replacement character with him is he is one of the idiots that hates that Miles is becoming a bit more of a main Spider-Man in the Insomniac Games Marvel universe. He is one of those guys that believes that Peter is stopping being Spider-Man at the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 instead of taking a break to get his life back on track.

Yasuke was a real person. He was the first non-Japanese samurai and the only African one. He served as a retainer to Oda Nobunaga. A retainer, not a "pet" as that racist piece of shit said. Retainers in feudal japan are positions of high honor and are people very close to the lord. They are people that are typically trusted by the lord from what I understand.
As he is someone that was close to Oda Nobunaga, he isn't a bad choice for an Assassin's Creed game at all. He most likely would have been witness to some pretty pivotal events in Japanese history because of his position.
I would have personally liked to play as Musashi, but he may be a bit too OP of a swordsman to balance a game around. It would just feel weird to lose while playing as him while knowing that he never lost a duel.
Choosing someone who is a bit lesser known is a better move in my opinion too because it can leave more room for flexibility in the story.

However, in his God of War Raknorok review 1 of his complaints was that Atreus (white boy) and Angraboda (black girl) weren't immediatly having sex upon meeting each other. You may believe that SM is contradicting himself by condeming Fallout of having an interational relationship and condem GoWR for the 2 characters be just good friends, however this contradiction is cleared up if you watch his livestreams. SM wants Atreus to imprenate Angraboda, murder his sons, impregnate his daughters and then continue the cycle ontill not a single trace of Angraboda can be found in Atreus's decendents. Ironwood is in the middle of nowhere and so if Atreus would actually do that than he'd get away with it easaly.

I will say i agree with you on the price. But for me im still pre ordering? Why? AC is the only franchise in gaming i still play and make time for. That and maybe one other game that is GOTY or a contender. All jsut due to time and the fact i love AC, history, religion mythology science philosophy art music etc and AC embodies all pf that in one for me.
But for me price is ok to a point cause its the only game i really play anymore. But i can see why its problematic at this high price point

11:30 The trailer is disliked because Ubisoft is a shit company, they've locked specific quests and items behind pre-orders and priced the premim edition at $120, which allows you to play the game a few days early.
You also have to download a patch to make the game playable, meaning even if you buy a physical copy it could be completely unplayable in 10 yeaars if they shut that server down. And as precedent and evidence of their business tactics, they released a game called The Crew almost 10 years ago and they recently shut the servers down so even those physical copy owners can't play the single player mode and they even tried to revoke ownership of those who bought it digitally until they got caught and blasted by various gaming news sites and reviewers. So people are just sick of Ubisoft's shit in general, all of their trailers get mass disliked.
Bro is getting mad that a real historical character is being added into Assassin’s Creed Shadow. It takes a few seconds to do research on Yasuke, who is the first black samurai.
I think it's bizarre because we've never played a real historical figure in these games. Wouldn't it have made more sense to run into Yasuke in the main game? Maybe even partner up with him? They're clearly making this decision for shareholder pandering reasons.

Woke was a term that came out the black community and culture. Rappers even used it way back when. It was used to describe someone who is opressed by the system/government and comes to see how there are factors at play to keep them/us down. While there are more today, I believe the majority of people still date/marry within their race. I think it's 6 out of 7 or something. Which is a big jump up from say, the 80s, but still a minority. I believe studies found while it's way more accepted these days with about half of people saying it's something they'd do, it's still not that common, and dudes tend to be more likely to do so.
It really depends on what you mean, normal as in "it's perfectly okay to do", yeah sure, but normal as in "statistically the norm", no not really.
You have to consider that most people aren't in interracial relationships, so while obviously it's "normal" to do, it's not "normal" to see it constantly, so if you have an over abundance of advertising, plastering interracial couples everywhere they can as though they were the statistical norm, it's going to make people feel wierd, not because they're racist or anything, but simply because it's not representative of most people's lives and daily experience, while being presented as though it is.
This is when you also meet the issue of pandering on the other side, where people who are in interracial relationships will also understand their experience is not the norm, and seeing an over abundance of representation can feel as though it's being forced so the companies can get a "yay you did it, you showed people we exist, wooo so cool, take my money", people see through that shit and it's off putting to be pandered to.
Representation is a good thing, but you need to be careful about over representation, making something bigger than it is or singling it out as special, hyper focusing on it to a point where it becomes almost annoying and obnoxious because it's obvious what you are doing and why you are doing it.

I just have a problem with the ACTUAL legitimate historical inaccuracies of the game, like how the developers literally said that shinobi no mono (ninjas) and samurai were two different classes (they weren't, shinobi no mono were a type of samurai that specialized in various forms of spycraft and espionage, if you need proof check out antony cummins' extensive amount of research on the subject) and that higa was "isolated" from the rest of Japan despite having a well established pottery trade that went all the way to the capital, we also just don't know either way whether yasuke was a samurai or not, they considered him a type of warrior/bushi but that doesn't automatically mean he was a samurai, they also thought he was very tall and strong, there is also a painting with nobunaga where you see a figure that could have been yasuke wrestling with sumo practitioners, while he was a retainer and sword bearer for nobunaga he was still admired for his strength and could have just as likely been just a body guard for nobunaga, this doesn't inherently make him a samurai though, but in my opinion, is just as cool you could still be a bushi/warrior without being a samurai, similar to how the existence of ashigaru worked

I think the guy is too cynical, bitter, and pessimistic to enjoy simple things. Like he called Spider-Man 2 and Starfield to be worse than Skull Island: Rise of Kong, an actual bad game. Can you believe that?
So, we had "Ghost of Tsushima" which was a fantastic game. It felt like what I wanted an assassin's creed game to be. It explored the main character's conflict over his definition of "honor" and what it means to be a samurai. It did so very well. But do we really need another story about an honorable samurai battling the conflict to be honorable and loyal while also combatting an enemy that fights dirty? That's been done very well, like Ghost of Tsushima, but it's also been done to death. The netflix show "blue eye samurai" is amazing because it takes those tropes but on top of that, the protagonist is a woman and she's half white. So we get more complex stories involving her overcoming sexism, racism, on top of exploring what it is to be "honorable" and all that. It's fucking fantastic. Having a black character and a woman character gives the story room to explore deeper, more complex issues. Will ubisoft do it well? Probably not. But having a black character and a female character lends itself to deeper story. Key point: Having a minority/outsider and a woman (both who face more challenges than just killing enemies) SERVES A PURPOSE FOR THE STORY.
They probably could Darby mcdevitt an the rest of Montreal an other studios was helping write the story an others focus on gameplay they had bout maybe 11 studios working on this game

Yeah, the games do suck and I'm still not going to play it; just not because of this. I'm not going to play it because Ubisoft is a shit company that ruins every game they touch with absurd monetization practices while at the same time bitching about devs that do right by gamers. Templars were just another name for a group that's existed since before the Templars were even that. "Templar" is just a name for "shadow government organization" throughout history in those games.

I think the issue of why women get more offended at sex jokes from men is because most women have faced SA or sexual harassment. We don't know if a man has the potential to actually hurt us or not so we'd prefer to eliminate the threat as soon as possible. At least that's why I would be upset at that, I don't have any issue with my male friends and jokes like that because I know them.

100 for a video game is unheard of. There are so many and so much better games that you can get for 10-30 dollars, made by a fraction of the amount of people it takes to churn out the unfinished slop that ubisoft pushes out constantly.
