- La Villa Strangiato by Rush. One of the greatest pieces ever written for a power trio. Here is our rendition of it! This video is one full take (except for 3 small punch ins) that we did in the Berklee studios a few weeks before the Covid-19 Pandemic. We tried to keep it as close to the original as possible and are really happy with the outcome! We could not have done it without Nina Cavalheiro, Idun Forfang, Leanne Ungar, and especially Dan Macdonald who mixed and mastered it.

Ok. I have seen Rush do this song live several times. I have heard the recording, maybe a million times. I have seen a tribute band, I have watched other videos of bands doing this instrumental and by far this is the best I have ever seen.
The cleanest cover I have heard. Bass player hits each noteperfectly and on time, the guitarist looks uninterested which to me makes him even better playing this piece and the drummer!!!! Oh my gosh. She hits every note on the button. She does more with her simple kit than many pros do on larger sets.
The impressive part is the drummer does, with her simple set, on this piece is what Niel did on his set, SHE DOES ON A SET A FRACTION OF WHAT NIEL'S WAS AND!!!! MAKES IT SOUND LIKE NIELS SET. Incredible.
Definitely going to check these guys out more.

All y'all are fantastic, but...I would NEVER in my wildest dreams have imagined a drummer playing this song on a 4 piece before. And just...I mean...she absolutely killed it! Neil would have been proud!
I can remember when this came out on vinyl...and exactly zero girls liked Rush, on the whole planet. Now here's a kick-butt version with a fantastic girl drummer playing a Rush song (I'm a drummer, and learning this one is not easy in any sense of the word). The times, they are a-changin'.... great job, y'all.

Probably the second or third time watching, but this proves what the old school drummers say that you only need a 4 piece kit with a few cymbals to make it work!!! Hell Neil's version was amazing, but DAMN! She nailed it!!!

I love the unintended visual of the drummer; abandoned in a room by herself, with a 4 piece, 1 crash cymbal and a no-nonsense focused look, almost to say "You want me to do what??" She then proceeds to absolutley F-ing nail it!

I was nostalgic about my old music and came across this video by accident. From a child of the seventies, bless you.
Leah, I'm really impressed. You got all of Neil's little licks just right. I've been practicing this song since around 1981, and I know his parts in my sleep (and, on a good day, can play them like he did). Most other drummers leave out his extra hi-hat chokes, etc. But you really did your homework on this one. Great job.

@@LeahBluestein Yes, it always does go back to Neil. He's the inspiration, and he delivers on that whole album. I remember seeing them on their Hemispheres tour, and thinking he couldn't pull off that whole thing live, but he did, incredibly. And he went to another town the next night and played it again. He inspired me in the late 70s; now he's inspiring you...how cool!

Great cover. Most people are oblivious to the complexity of Rush music. Three very talented musicians here.
Props to the drummer. She killed it and those parts are bloody tricky.
Okay so I want to say all of these musicians are freaking awesome the bass player just nailed it. I don't know how anyone could play the guitar part for this Alex is just extraordinary and there's so much to know but this guy totally pulled it off perfectly and I would say really the only difference is Alex acts goofy when he doesn't he's just funny but when he's being serious I would say he has the same flavor. And of course Sarah bluestein, I'm just amazed by her she pulls off every style of music and has a great disposition. And the disposition is actually one of the biggest compliment because it's hard to be really awesome and still pull off being cool as well. Neil was always a bit quirky nerdy maybe and yet definitely the professor on the drums and when he sat down it was a whole different world. I think that she comes closer than anyone in the sense of her disposition, it's a spiritual thing. There is only one thing I would suggest from this point. Sarah you need a 6 8 and 10. People say well if you need a big drum set it's just easier to play actually it's harder. But there's a certain swing you get and the sound of the punch of those drums really when you're flowing into it is amazing and yes it does set your drum set up slightly different to the point where it could be slightly uncomfortable for a minute but after awhile it will be so awesome you won't believe it.

It’s fun seeing someone on a small drum kit like Neil played in the early days. The size of his drum layout on the final tours was insane, but so was the breadth of material to cover.

Phenomenal - Reppin' Berklee like you should. This is one of those tunes that separates the amateurs (me) from the real pros (you - plural). And it's yet another song that shows there is absolutely no touching the artistic genius of Rush in rock compositions.
