Hi Scott! This tea sounds so delicious! Tempting me to buy some. 😄🍃🍵 And wow to be able to drink tea from 1930s and 40s! What an incredible opportunity! Thank you for sharing! Wishing you and Xiao the best! 🙂
@@Yunnansourcing I had the rare opportunity to sample a 1940's Liu An from the owner of Wistaria Tea House in Taipei last November. Such a smooth tea, and the Qi made me sweat like I was in a sauna! Very memorable.
@@Jakeknapp Awesome... alot of aged tea in Taiwan and alot of very generous people too. I have only had a 60's Liu Bao (in Malaysia). It was funky at first but later steeps was mind blowing!
You have a knack of making me lust for teas beyond my means. Now I have to try a sample of this! Love the Xiao Yao reflection! If we can't have her in the video, this is the next best thing. :) I'm also one of those who a strong cha qi puts me right to sleep.
@@Yunnansourcing I am actually on a 10Kish mile road trip across the USA, one of the things I am looking for is good tea. Please remind me the name of your business?
I'm thinking of buying this as a "birthday cake," it's the only / most compelling 1990 tea I can find on your site (or any other site I've checked, for that matter). Good candidate?
poor boy here, breaking up my affordable and lovely 703 ripe and feeling lucky......but i must try a sample of this tea. many thanks scott for the tea and inspiration...i love to time travel .
I love these videos! If you're up for it I think it'd be really cool to get more into the history of the famous brands, like you did a little in this video regarding CNNP.
9:41 - Thought it was just me. I find that when I drink non westernised tea I get this sense of dreamy calm that comes over me. Hard to explain. Wanted to expand my tea experiences after trying some authentic Oolong tea and stumbled onto Tuo Cha Pu Erh and thus this video.
Hey Scott, I haven't had much really old ripe, but I have had some really old Liu Bao. I found it has a really nice petrichor / rain type of scent, and also a taste i can only ever describe as that of clean snow. Like, as a kid, when you eat a handful of fresh snow... is that something you could find with older ripe?
I'm not making the connection on this one. Old ripe pu-erh doesn't taste like anything other than old ripe pu-erh to me. Maybe I'm just not imaginative enough? ;-)
It's good to see another video coming out from you guys, the tea looks interesting. I only have the 1992 Hua Yuan Tuo Cha (actually I'm drinkng it now), but would love to try this as well. I realised, the older the puerh gets, the heavier the strange calming/stimulating effect it has, while young raws and ripes can really hit you in the head. It is also an interesting thought that puerhs (like good wines) can outlive us. Happy Pig Year!
The 1992 Hua Yuan is really awesome tea as well. One of my top finds for 2018. Yes... I really like that the good pu-erhs will continue to age and improve long after we are gone. Plant a tree for the future, keep a (puerh) cake for your children.
Yunnan Sourcing Great video, another one I was eyeing up on your site. I’m waiting on some 1992 Hua Yuan that I just ordered and really looking forward to trying it. How many times do you recommend I “wash” it?
Watching the video, drinking tea 'with you' :-) and feel relaxed and in a pleasant company and enjoying this all. And your words bout world, tea etc., I feel exactly the same. Thx for nice time watching this, but you shouldnt do this, because many people order this amazing tea now and it wont be available soon :-)
Glad you enjoyed the video. It's true... but also any tea I am selling I've decided I'm ok to see it all go. I still need to grab one for myself though!
Ooh, I'll _definitely_ have to add a sample to my next order :) Unrelated question: when are you planning to announce the winning designs for the cake wrapper contest? I'm really interested to see all the pig designs. Last year's Year of the Dog competition had some amazing artwork.
Thanks for the video Scott 👍. Ive been thinking about this Tuo for a while now. When i first started drinking puerh i enjoyed ripe more but now i gravitate towards only buying Raw. Loving the 2018 raw impression.
Great video Scott! The tea looks like an awesome one to try. I guess I'd have to get myself a sample of it (the 25g of course). However, I will not be drinking it while watching this video as the first try (sorry). I will want to drink this with friends and family first, then while watching this video :-) I think that the guy who shared his impressively aged tea with you and other people actually got something out of it. He got to experience the joy of sharing incredible tea with other people (which I definitely love doing). I guess the hunt is still on for me though, I really want to get my grubby hands on a 1993 puerh (my birth year), since that would be kind of cool to have, though I don't mind waiting a bit before finding a candidate :D Cheers!
@@Yunnansourcing I guess Raw would be more fun, though ripe might be a bit easier on the budget currently. It is ultimately up to what I find and what seems good I guess.
For later steeps yes, 2 minutes can be needed to get the most out of the tea. I don't like endless short steeps that lead to 20 steeps. It's just too time consuming and the tea is less interesting for me. The other element at play is that I might distracted and forget when I am talking in these videos. ;-)
Hmmmm, i have to step up my tea game... I can clearly see that now XD Btw. the initial investment/sum may seem hefty to some but it really isn't. If you go out and drink a beer in a nice pub you will pay your 5 euros easily, a half-way decent bottle of wine in a restaurant goes for 30 euros n up. nuff said.
Typically the tea used in ripe pu-erh productions wouldn't cut it for a quality raw tea. Ripe pu-erh is produced in much larger quantities and often from summer harvested teas (not good for raw).
Any chance we'll ever gonna see some 1970-80s or at least early 1990s raw puer? Even with a whole cake price over $1000, maybe many people might be interested in buying a small amount to try it out or for some special occasion.
Legitimate Raw Pu-erh from the 70's is going to be atleast $20,000 per cake. 80's $10,000 or more. I'm not able to get insurance to ship such expensive things. It would keep me up at night.
So a 10g sample of a 1980s would be like $300-400, that's a bit over my budget... but anyway from an insurance's point of view, wouldn't that be just like a whole (more recent) cake of the same value?
Thank goodness Xiao Yao has tea to drink while she's stuck inside the hutch behind you!
Yeah I noticed she was in there but I was too busy waxing poetic to let her out.
Sockbert good one lol
Absolutely my favorite tea I've ever bought from your site. Worth every cent. I've definitely used it to get tons of my friends into tea!
Awesome! It is the perfect ambassador for ripe pu-erh!
Welcome back! Love your videos.
I should watch it with the sample I have, but I can't wait and I had too much tea already today. :)
