I’m sure you’ll do some sort of full expert guide at some point but until then a couple extras. 1. The Juggernaut can be used from the spring, box, and glider karakuri once you have 4 mutation levels for varying levels of damage (glider seems to do the most but only if you connect all the way through, otherwise the spring is a solid movement + massive juggernaut damage). 2. Always follow the box and glider non-Juggernaut karakuri attacks with a mutation (RT/R2) since that follow up attack has a ton of hits attached to it. The torch also has a good mutation follow up, but it’s the first hit that does the multi-damage. 3. May be a bug but as of now you can overfill your mutation levels when it comes to karakuri juggernaut attacks (doesn’t work with regular juggernaut attacks). 4. Always place you karakuri with your weapon unsheathed in a fight. Generally your character slows down when placing karakuri with your weapon sheathed, but with the unsheathed staff you still move at full speed. 5. The moveset for each mutated variant of the staff will change depending on the point you are in the ‘full’ mutation combo. By full mutation combo I mean: Staff -> bladed tonfa-> shuriken -> spear -> staff -> shuriken -> bladed tonfa -> spear -> shuriken. Those are the full mutation changes that will happen if you keep attacking and mutating without stopping in a single combo, before it goes back to the beginning. So, for instance, the shuriken mutation can actually have 3 different movesets: a single light strike (1st mutation), 2 light strikes (second mutation) and lastly a jumping light strike (last mutation). The heavy attack doesn’t change for any of them. Spend some time with the training bear and practice with each variant to get a feel for how they change because those moveset changes can be accessed quicker by mutating it to the last step of the initial 4 mutation combo (spear). So instead of starting with staff you just hit RT/R2 and cycle to which variant you want and start the combo from there, or sheathe the weapon and use the heavy attack while moving to open with the spear. 6. Always yell “I’m the Juggernaut Bitch!” when using the juggernaut attack.
I noticed all this while testing too. No guides on this weapon I've seen have explained the different cycles of weapons for extended combos, but it was fun to figure it out on my own. I like to think of it as 2 cycles. Also bonus tip starting a fight with a spring or torch attack into a morph will fill 2 gauges instead of one, useful for getting the ball rolling.

they are bladed tonfa, which means that you are using blades. if there are two of them, and you are dual wielding them, they are dual blades. being pedantic and saying people are wrong for calling them dual blades is really wierd
@@LumpyCrumpets you do realize by implying your logic any weapon that can cut and you have 2 in your hand automatically means that the are dual blades. Like hey look at my axes, those aren't axes those are dual blades, look at my 2 guns that have bayonets on them, those aren't guns those are dual blades, look at my gauntlets with small side blades on them, those aren't gauntlets those are dual blades. See what I mean
It’s like the Pandora’s Box from Devil May Cry 4. It’s a transforming/shapeshifting weapon that you use the different forms of to build a meter. And once that meter’s full, you use its big damaging form to cover the screen with a big offensive show. Love it
This feels more like switchaxe than charge blade. With switch axe you build up gauge to do that massive damage then go back to square one. While it’s definitely fluid, it doesn’t have the same mode fluidity that charge blade does. At least, that’s what it feels like to me
yeah charge blade actually focuses on having its different forms fill different purposes. Your Sword and Board mode provides you with defense through things like guard points and generally increased mobility while the axe form is more vulnerable but has higher damage. Whereas this weapon is more just a hack n slash fest with a finisher, except that most of the moves are flavored as weapon transformations. When in reality it doesn't really make much difference what mode you're in.
I mean this was definitely going to be my main from the moment I saw it but I'm genuinely curious how Josh feels between the greatsword that's always a great sword and the greater sword that is only temporarily a greater sword
@@Spinexus but in MH GS may be smaller than CB but the GS has the highest damaging single hit. The difference is in this game the "CB" has the single largest hit. I think that probably influences his opinion a bit.
Unless I missed it in the video, you didn't mention that doing any of the aerial attacks into transform gives you 2 gauge segments instead of one. I could see spamming spring attacks and spring juggernauts at 4 being the meta.
Just a tip, You never have to actually time flashes with the staff. You can just lightly spam R2 as you're doing your normal attacks, and you'll always transform every time without fail. I'm not sure if this works with the flash attacks of the Maul, I haven't tried it, but I would guess all transform flashes with any weapon work this way.
After failing miserably to hold the gauge on my first hunt with it and realizing how short it stays charged, I went to the dummy to test combos and here's how I play the staff so far on my limited number of hunts: With an infinite combo that just keeps looping, it seems like you'd want to just do that but I find myself having more success just doing 1-2 transforms and resetting every time I go in since all of the basic combo moves I like are at the end and there's never time for that. If the window is larger, especially if it's enraged, sometimes I just pop the 4 bar move if I feel it'll run or enrage soon. The 2 weapons I almost never start a combo from while just standing are the tonfas and the spear. I just learned about the spear I-frames so I'll try that, but for basic attacks, I avoid those two, since their first rotation is pretty slow (the loop combo transforms in different orders and different attacks, it uses each weapon like 3 times so it will catch you off guard the first time you go from staff to shuriken) The combos I mostly use are: The sheathed sprinting shuriken throw (triangle) into a transform, or the power slide tonfa opener (this one gets closer to it and starts really close to the part of the combo I like, so this is my long combo starter) I use the box jump but only transform once since it leaves you with the slowest tonfa combo that I don't like, so I only keep going if it staggers. The spring is okay if they're far, but the fact that the spear transform has reverse controls can be tricky mid hunt so it's not my go to since it can miss. And for one of my favorites, the glider start, it goes straight into a part of the combo I like, but it has slow startup and leaves you vulnerable, so you have to be wary of getting smacked out of the sky
Using basic karakuri attacks is probably the most important with this weapon As they fill two bars and let you go to a specific weapon that you need I find the torch one to be particularly useful because I’ll often need to throw it out a monster that’s further away it’s very nice and I recommend learning to mix them in with your attacks as I find that’s where most of my thread goes
To be honest, only reason i will main the Staff is, cause Ultra Greatsword, big dmg, i wish it would just be that, i know there is the Nodachi, but compared to the transform Sword the Nodachi looks tiny :O
I want to like this weapon but my god, it takes forever to charge, even with box jumps and spring boards, by the time you get a full charge, monster is running for miles only to lose charge. Sure, build it up on little kemono, but once again, you get to monster only for it to flee. Great build, spent all day getting path done and 50 hunts later, maybe got off 8 full 3 burst big blades. It's just too slow.
I’m really bummed we don’t have the giant shuriken as it’s own weapon. Could have been really cool to have a sort of close range “ranged” weapon. Transforming staff is super cool tho. Loving this weapon.
I still feel like this weapon is a little bloated. The Shuriken should've been its own weapon type imho. I also feel like the spear could've been just the heavy combo variant. Like a blade pops out everytime a heavy attack is made. Everything else is fine, I'll still use it but I'm a little unhappy about the potential of more weapons in the game while they essentially toss 5 into 1.
It's like this weapon took all my favorite types of weapons and combined them all into one, it would've been perfect if it was a giant bow instead of a giant sword for me personally
i wish it was clarified which buttons you press for the spring box-juggernaut and glider-juggernaut moves. the game does not really put up the inputs of how to use those moves. mine is locked to use the tonfa spins

Love it! Only tweak I would make... For the charge meter, I would make it like 10 or 15 seconds before it dissipates but instead of vanishing all at once it gradually depletes. The whole thing just going poof after 30 seconds looks odd. But only a few more days till I can feel it out myself
There some parts that I do not get about the weapon. When mutating to the tonfa for the first time after drawing the weapon the light attack is an attack string. However when morphing into the tonfa again the light attack turns into a single, strong leaping attack. For the Shuriken it is the same I think. The weapon seems to lose combo attacks. Am I missing something?
No, that just seems to be how the weapon works from my experience. Every weapon has AT LEAST 2 attack strings, that u seem to alternate in-between every time u morph into the weapon. The shuriken seems to have 3. I initially thought the attacks changed based on ur bar, but I think it just alternates each time u morph into it.
Nah all weapons have different Combos availible, which depends on when you buffer attacked with the weapon. You gotta memorize that to not get confused
I love this weapon, but it is so hard to use in multiplayer. Idk if it's lag or the slight fps drops when the action gets going, but I can't morph on time to build bar like half the time
I'm trying to love this weapon but it's such a pain right now. Lot of mons barely give me time to complete a combo. I have to keep fighting otherwise the stupid meter goes away and then everything is pointless. I finally get full gauge and there is zero opening to do it. I lose gauge. I cri. Skill issue i guess. The rare occassions when i actually landed the juggernaut was epic
As far as I have seen yes Staff->Tonfa->Shuriken->Spear->Staff BUT on 4:08 he went from Spear->Staff into Shuriken so not sure if it`s a set order or if it`s random what weapon you get
First off, I really need to get the full game because the trial is locking me out of so much and I can't stand it. Second, just a funny little realization, but I heard a Windows notification sound around 10:41 and it kinda made me do a triple-take at that exact moment.
Those aren't ordinary shuriken :) technically they aren't shuriken in generally (but still as close as it gets) Those are actually double bladed glaives, which I believe is a reference to dynasty warriors 6 weapons that Lu Bu uses.
you can do everything while running but the most important thing... HEALING!, why? missed opportunity id trade anything else to be able to heal while running or just speed up the animation

Can I ask though, does the game take itself too seriously? Part of the fun of monster hunter and even Toukiden (who i think were the team that made wild hearts?) were the elements of silliness that they openly embraced.
Dunno if you found an answer, but so far the story is serious. The game itself is honestly a mix. Haven’t found and goofy weapons or armor yet, but the monster designs can be a bit funny sometimes. The gorilla monster and the tanuki sand guy are both just really cool and funny at the same time. Edit: I wouldn’t say it’s too serious, but it isn’t as whimsical as monster hunter imo
Will ppl please STOP calling the second form of the staff dual blades, its bladed tonfas its a deservice to tonfas which are rarely used in games as it is now
I'm not sure why this was called a staff, your main focus is the giant sword. Which to me is just sad. Instead of just giving us more weapons they throw them all in 1.
Alright listen... A real review on any of this is critic... As well as the disowning of people referring to this weapon as a charge blade from Monster Hunter... This weapon is nothing of the sort and small brains often make such miniscule similarities for arbitrary stupid reasons. Every video that's often made by anyone reviewing anything is often strung along by bias interpretation whether the item being reviewed is good or bad... In this case, this weapon is extremely bad... Entitlement to ones own opinion usually ends in extreme disarray. Developers are not objective creator God's... Their opinions are valid until the problems they create along with what they've created becomes even more problematic... *• Problem:* Wildhearts Staff Weapon *• Solution:* A deeper dive upon a weapon such as this... *• Problem:* Staff weapon does not perform adequately as well as diluting potential future weapons that could be. *• Solution:* Dismantle the Staff weapon entirely... *• Problem:* The ideology of making the decision to create a weapon that it multiple weapons instead of creating those multitude of weapons to be there own unique weapons. *• Solution:* Deep dive into this concept... *• Problem:* Heavily relatable to Phantasy Star as Main Weapon Classes derivative of Sub Classes as such either or aren't respective of eachother- *_(Translation: Sub weapons are just as interesting as main weapons, Why is there a disconnect between Main weapons being locked as such and Sub weapons being locked as such...)_* *• Solution:* Deep dive into all potential weapons that would be in the game and fix or further improve upon already existing weapons *_(cough), (cough)_* Greats- Nodachi... And this staff weapon... *• Problem:* Dauntless suffers from the same problem that all similar Monster Hunter aspects, other than Monster Hunter itself, lack... is weapon diversity... *• Solution:* Create more weapon variety... Monster Hunter has 14 relatively unique weapons... No other Monster Hunting game can compare. 14 isn't the standard but, 9 is actually very very limited... Creating a dual form weapon in a game with not many weapons is harsh. *_-TD:LR-_* Staff Weapon does not exactly perform coherently as each weapon change offer a miniscule combination of the individual weapon before encouraging the morph... The combos this weapon offer are not substantial enough for what they require to function as well as the conviction and commitment they require to deal relative damage. If this weapon is to be perceived as one individual weapon then by design the dichotomy of the weapon itself is flawed... If this weapon is to be perceived as individual weapon s combined as a whole, well the same problem manifest when there's little to no actual combo viability to those individual attacks via each weapon as the weapon provokes the player to morph... We have Claw a shinobi style weapon and no stand alone polearm weapon other than first form staff... This weapon takes both of those spots in the worst way possible. Again, how do you determine whether or not a weapon should be a partial weapon or should I say a sub weapon versus its own weapon... I know the answer but Wildhearts and Phantasy Star got it wrong.
@@Millze86 Ignoring 70% of the weapon is kinda stupid aswell.^^ Its a very unique weapon. But would rather have the individual weapons in a more fleshed out version.
downloaded the demo, and tbh its borderline unplayable, insanely bad performance, tons of graphic errors, and controller input is constantly wrong on pc. on pc this game barely even classify as alpha tbh,

For the charge meter, I would make it like 10 or 15 seconds before it dissipates but instead of vanishing all at once it gradually depletes. The whole thing just going poof after 30 seconds looks odd. But only a few more days till I can feel it out myself
Gilgamesh from Fate/Stay Night and his Ig-Alima sword: "Am I just a joke to you?"
Are we able to slice off parts from these monsters like MHW?
Yeap. Break their faces, cut their tails off, slice off their wings etc. Depends on the monster.
This is definitely a easy to learn hard to master weapon and I'm about it.
This my 2nd best after the bladed wagasa 😁😁😁
As a cb, ig, spear/polearm, and big weapon enthusiast I am very hyped.
I love this weapon, but it is so hard to use in multiplayer. Idk if it's lag or the slight fps drops when the action gets going, but I can't morph on time to build bar like half the time
If you get hit does your bar go away?
I'm trying to love this weapon but it's such a pain right now. Lot of mons barely give me time to complete a combo. I have to keep fighting otherwise the stupid meter goes away and then everything is pointless. I finally get full gauge and there is zero opening to do it. I lose gauge. I cri.
Skill issue i guess.
The rare occassions when i actually landed the juggernaut was epic
“Tricky slicey stabby whacker”
😂
Did I understand that right that you cannot choose which form to switch to, you are forced to go through them in a set order?
As far as I have seen yes Staff->Tonfa->Shuriken->Spear->Staff
BUT on 4:08 he went from Spear->Staff into Shuriken so not sure if it`s a set order or if it`s random what weapon you get
Staff hits hard.
FINALLY I CANT WAIT TO MAKE VIDEOS WITH THIS!!!!
Torn between this and the umbrella
Is it at all possible to just use one weapon type or is its damage too bad
How? You can't charge your ultra greatsword if you don't combo with muliple morphs
@@andrijagrgic2357 that's what I mean like is it viable still even without greatsword
First off, I really need to get the full game because the trial is locking me out of so much and I can't stand it. Second, just a funny little realization, but I heard a Windows notification sound around 10:41 and it kinda made me do a triple-take at that exact moment.
Which actual staff is the best??
"you won't learn multiple movesets" proceeds to show multiple movesets
Is this a pre order early release or did you get early access due to being a content creator.
if you have EA play or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate there is a 10 hour demo
@@jameskeller3425 yes but it stops you before you can even enter the village and only gives access to like 5 of the weapons
@@pelagiasotc7866 and it runs insanely poor, and has a shit ton of issues when trying to play with controller
for ea play pro, it's out.
How can you tell if someone is a Charge Blade user?
They'll tell you.
Those aren't ordinary shuriken :) technically they aren't shuriken in generally (but still as close as it gets)
Those are actually double bladed glaives, which I believe is a reference to dynasty warriors 6 weapons that Lu Bu uses.
Those later became the main weapons of Lu Lingqi. Really good moveset and nice crowd control on those
@@granddiety14yt62 very much 😁 love that weapon
I was thinking of the Fūma Shuriken that was used in Naruto against Zabuza and thought it was pretty cool
you can do everything while running but the most important thing... HEALING!, why? missed opportunity id trade anything else to be able to heal while running or just speed up the animation
This weapon's player stereotype seems to be the show-off.
Edit: Having said that, it's my favourite weapon I've seen so far.
My Xbox controller doesn't have Square or Triangle
This is like Kougan Anki from flame of Recca
Bro
Staff
shuriken
Bladed tonfas
Spear
Great swords
People keep calling it dual blades they’re tonfas!😭 as a db main in Monster Hunter idk why but it be irking me a bit😭 bc I love the tonfas and want them to be recognized
Those look more like tonfas then dual blades to me
You need the increase to ur ultimate abilities damage it's mountain something
The game free on psn now❤
I want to play that game so badly sadly my shitty GPU says no
rtx 3080 here, the game only reach 40 fps if i'm lucky (all the settings in medium)
@@carloslira8619 Da fck? HOW? Im rtx 3070 Ti and I'm hitting 50-60 fps on max settings. Amd Ryzen 7 processor. It occasionally drops fps to 48 but it's usually 50-60fps
Ok, ok, now we are talking! This thing is sexy AF!
Edit:
I wouldn’t say it’s too serious, but it isn’t as whimsical as monster hunter imo
@Yam N Bam thanks for that. I am enjoying but it could do with a bit more whimsy I feel though there is enough cute to make it up, lol.
Will ppl please STOP calling the second form of the staff dual blades, its bladed tonfas its a deservice to tonfas which are rarely used in games as it is now
pretty sure that's a glaive not a spear
They're tonfas... you guys talked about tonfas from Frontier in previous MH videos 🤦♂️
Those aren't dual blades they are tonfa
I'm not sure why this was called a staff, your main focus is the giant sword. Which to me is just sad. Instead of just giving us more weapons they throw them all in 1.
Why’d it have to be a greatsword as the final form/big dps option for this weapon. I like my gimmicky weapons, not a fan of greatswords at all though.
Stick go bonk
Bruu Bruu
I love you content but I know you need the views but you say every weapon is amazing
I honestly don’t like how this weapon has so many forms, I wish it was a staff and that’s it…..
I don't understand why us console players have to keep waiting to play
*• Problem:* Wildhearts Staff Weapon
*• Solution:* A deeper dive upon a weapon such as this...
*• Problem:* Heavily relatable to Phantasy Star as Main Weapon Classes derivative of Sub Classes as such either or aren't respective of eachother-
*_(Translation: Sub weapons are just as interesting as main weapons, Why is there a disconnect between Main weapons being locked as such and Sub weapons being locked as such...)_*
*• Solution:* Deep dive into all potential weapons that would be in the game and fix or further improve upon already existing weapons *_(cough), (cough)_* Greats- Nodachi...
*_-TD:LR-_*
Staff Weapon does not exactly perform coherently as each weapon change offer a miniscule combination of the individual weapon before encouraging the morph...
No Charge Blade? not interested.
It took you 18 seconds for me to pause and facepalm... they are tonfas. You can tell by how they are held and used. Not duel blades
congrates you won the prize
If it was just a Staff/Spear I would LOVE this weapons. And while I don't mind transforming weapons, that thing goes a bit far.
U dont need to use it like this u can justvuse the staff or spear
@@Millze86 Ignoring 70% of the weapon is kinda stupid aswell.^^
Its a very unique weapon. But would rather have the individual weapons in a more fleshed out version.
I’m sure that we will end up getting each stage as a fully fleshed out weapon.
@@riemaennchen ? So u just want a fucking stick to hig monsters with seems lamé guess that means u hate switch axe and charge blade
And u can use any of the versions
Stop calling them dual blades. They're tonfas
Yes true but it does have blades at the end
@Tj Haynes ya but weapons have names for a reason lol
Yea true but still can't enforce everybody what weapon's name rather or not its acurate. Like tomato and tomoto situration
@Tj Haynes wrong again. Teaching isn't enforcing its helping the general public. Willful ignorance though ultimately can't be helped 🤷🏿♂️
@@gitex but again everyone has a right to called things they way the called them
All really interesting, but they really robbed themselves of extra weapons by putting so many in one.
downloaded the demo, and tbh its borderline unplayable, insanely bad performance, tons of graphic errors, and controller input is constantly wrong on pc. on pc this game barely even classify as alpha tbh,
5 in 1 weapons XD ahahahahahahahha
Like I'm down for more hunting games but why does wildhearts feel so lazy. Even down to the lore monster hunter is paper thin story wise and even that they ripped off with "hey we had this ancient civilization, they had better tech, now use it to defeat the monsters"
worst optimization ever, don't buy this garbage
This makes my CB main self so happy🥹🥹🥹 definitely buying
