  • In this knitting tutorial Carol takes a look at how to adjust the depth of a raglan sweater yoke.
The example used here in this tutorial is our Autumn Knit-along garment, the Saoirse sweater.
If you only want to add depth to the sweater yoke with no changes to the stitch count then you will work pattern rows (or rounds) without increases.
If you want to change the number of stitches for the body, you can add them to a row/round that previously had no increases. This will increase the stitches but won’t add depth to the yoke.
It would be the same for the sleeve. If you want to add extra stitches, you can work extra increases on the sleeves at each side on a row/round that would otherwise have been without any increases.
If you like the look of our Saoirse sweater and would like to learn more about knitting a raglan sweater, you can join the Autumn KAL today: stolenstitches...

Just wondering I have a good raglan fitting pattern but the neck is too high. Can I add more stitches to the cast on to get a bigger collar the continue the pattern using your tips on fit? Thankyou for your advice❤

Yes you can. Then work less raglan increases to ensure your stitch count at the end stays the same.
