I Try A Wetherspoons Hotel! 👉ua-cam.com/video/Khp1UZIv14E/v-deo.html
6:28 that would be a *_light_* :)
well me and Jess like spending a week at british seaside resorts over the summer time, when we decide where to go then we will see if weatherspoons has a hotel there. Thank you Tim👍
ive stayed in some wetherspoons hotels, good value for money, especially during summer school holidays
I think fridges in rooms are convenient and welcome. Milk, wine & beer etc can be stored in them. They are also useful for people who need to refrigerate medication.
Agreed! The need for a fresh cold water
As long as they are quiet. I've unplugged a few in the past!
When I was in Glasgow mine had a complimentary bottle of water inside. Maybe they ran out?
So long as they are the silent thermoelectric ones and not ones with a compressor switching on and off which wakes you up!
@@TheNeilsolaris I'm the same. They do thermoelectric ones which don't use a compressor which are silent. But some hotels have noisy compressor ones in which is very irritating if I forget ear plugs
The best thing about Premier Inn is how clean it is I’ve never been to an unclean premier inn before. I love the breakfast there as well.
Agree totally, the one featured here looked spotlessly clean, it isn't the cheapest hotel but I'm a firm believer of the saying "you get what you pay for". I've used them before, several times, have a booking already made for a city break early next year.
Yes, the range is very good.
The "Bedside table" at 4:26 is actually a laptop desk that you can use with the comfy chair so you can work with your feet up!
thanks for the tip
Yep. I stay at Premier Inns roughly 2 nights per week for work, and that moveable bedside/laptop table is always extremely useful.
The fridge is really useful especially in the summer when you need chilled drinks. It is something we look for.
as they have a fridge in the room, then a nice touch would have been fresh milk for your tea and coffee
I think Premier Inn is pretty good. I like the standardisation knowing that the room should be clean, functional and comfortable, which is all I usually need. But it's nice to have a few extras. Thanks for checking out the upgraded rooms, Tim!
you are welcome thanks for watching Nellie
Yea so I used to work in hotels and ngl most of that room won’t get cleaned the bedding gets changed and that’s it ohh and the toilet paper also the cups and mugs in the room will be the same for everyone meaning everyone who has used those mugs haven’t been cleaned properly they are just washed in the sick with no chemicals and a quick rinse
We use Premier Inn so 're time when visiting family around the country.
We had to book a premier plus room just before Christmas because it was all that was available. It was nice, but TBH, I wouldn't book again if a standard room was available - we only want somewhere clean to sleep and have breakfast before leaving for the day - so, for me, the extra money isn't worth it.
Premier Inn and the like are brilliant if you're disabled. You know the hotels will be accessible and the accessible rooms are usually spacious and easy to get around.
its the mcdonalds of hotels, always decent but never amazing but no matter which one you go to you are guaranteed it'll be pretty much the same
✨As someone who works at Premier Inn I wanted to give my professional opinion
First, yes there should have been two bottles of water in that fridge… I don’t know why it wasn’t there and I’m so sorry for that
On overall that room doesn’t reflect actual standard as this room is done wrong in so many ways, including the bed which is horrible and not up to brand standards
Also the kettle in that room is wrong and there is another kettle used in that room that is bigger and better
Plus, there are smaller pillows in that bag with extra pillows
About chocolates - you can always go back to reception or catch a housekeeper and ask fo more chocolates and tees (even if you are not staying in plus room 😜)
In general, you had every right to ask for your money back as I look at that room, the bed shocked me tbh. And as you come in the bedside lamps should have been turned on the pillows that should have been a lot more neat with light in the room turned off
You were also given a wrong key card, there’s another one for plus rooms that is themed for those rooms
And not all premier inns have the sign about illegal substances, it might be a thing in London, doesn’t say anything about the whole brand
Agreed
How would you go about getting a refund on a room not up to scratch?
@@peternelson6142 Premier Inn have a money back guarantee if you don't get a good night's sleep, and they are very good about refunds. I've had to claim twice due to wedding parties running noisily up and down the corridor in early hours of the morning. Usually I find the Premier Inn beds excellent and really comfortable. And the housekeeping is always very good.
Yes in my one I had a Nespresso machine, 2 waters and kettle with teabags as well as the chocolate.
Love premier inn ; I even brought the pillows and duvet , the beds are amazing; best nights sleep ever
Wow you are a fan
Brilliant as always, Tim. I love my Premier Inns as well, so I was considering the Plus one next year when I take my mini breaks. The shower was incredible 👌 And come on mate, the fridge in the room is perfect for keeping those beers cold 👍😁
Yay - couldn't stand the purple lighting. Totally agree about the pillows - same with Travelodge too, I believe they describe them as 'plump'!
I live two bus stops south of this premier inn. Good to know about the fridge as if I am away for a few days I can put my insulin in it, though I prefer a bath. I love their beds. If you know Weston-super-Mare then you would not be surprised to read the sign about substances.
Machine in the hall is a Scent Air machine. It atomizes scented oil.
I'd been wondering if the Plus rooms were worth the extra, to be honest I don't think I would pay that extra, I think their standard rooms are pretty good anyway. Thanks for showing us Tim, shame we couldn't see the sea view in the day time though, I would have liked to have seen that.
I felt the same. Normal Premier Inn seems fine and I don't see the upgrade need. If I were staying for a few days the fridge would be good. This video is useful so I know for future.
Haha I work at Premier Inn and I don’t think those rooms are worth that much more than flex rooms. Get a flex room, just as good!
Staying at Premier Inns for work, I take advantage of the Premier Plus rooms when I can. In some of their hotels, the Premier Plus floor is also the quiet floor. As someone who has worked hard during the day, and absolutely knackered by the end of it, those little extras make a difference. Even the stool as somewhere to unpack your overnight bags. But then, my hotel expenses are paid for me. I always love the Nespresso machine.
The reason I like Premier Inn when cycling is that they usually allow you to take the bike to your room. I'm pretty sure it's not policy, but if you ask where the cycle parking is, nine times out of ten they'll say 'just take it to the room'
Stopped in the plus rooms a couple of times, the fridge is very useful as you can get a pint of proper milk so you can have lots of cups of tea as I bring Yorkshire tea bags with me when I stop in hotels!
I wish you could open a window a little in these hotels
They can get so stuffy + dry with the compulsory aircon in each room
That fridge would be marvellous, always bring a pint of two of real milk for real tea and end up having to keep it cool on the windowsill or in a sink of cold water for the morning. It'd probably be safe for overnight but I don't like taking tummy risks when I'm away from home. Thanks for the review Tim.
Great idea!
I've stayed at the Premier Inn at Kettering in the past pre-covid and the room was freezing as the heating didn't work properly. The new style upgrade rooms do look nice and I'd probably choose them over the standard rooms. I look forward to seeing your next video.
Interesting, I've been to one in Halifax a couple of weeks ago and it was freezing as well. Like seriously freaking cold.
Otherwise very tidy and calm.
I wish Premier Inn would do a loyalty scheme. I spend months a year in them and always a pain when you can't even get good internet without paying.
me too they did used to do something like that
Love a premier inn! Find the beds so comfy and the purple light really soothing
I upgrade all the time now. The fridge is great to keep real milk in and the odd beer and vino. I like to have my breakfast in bed so I have my own Alpen and fresh milk. I normally stay for a week min 3 weeks a month due to work so as much home comfort is needed.
wow
Fridge is always handy if you want a chilled wine you’ve brought with you, so it’s a defo for me. Thanks for the video I’m staying in a plus room at Paddington next month. Look forward 👏🍾
Totally agree!
I need a fridge in ALL hotels but you dont
We got water in our fridge in the plus room , 1x still & 1xfizzy
I love Premier Inns, I've spent more than a year of my life staying in them. (Including last night!) I've even bought one of their Hypnos beds for my home. But to me, a bath is an absolute essential. If I had booked a "superior" room, and it had only a shower, I would have gone ballistic.
Clean and fresh room,😊
Fridge is a fantastic addition.
Not sure but that could be fragrance dispenser that you were wondering what it was.
I love a Premier Inn . So impressed with your room
Premier inn`s `all you can eat` breakfasts are epic. Travelodge breakfast in a bag...NOT GOOD.
Fridge and Aircon definitely a big improvement. Nice to have somewhere to keep bottle of water cool. Also if you are an insulin dependent diabetic good to have somewhere cool to store the insulin if you are staying more than a couple of days. Showers look good as well.
Honestly, I think there should be more videos about premier inns, comparing them, because they get overlooked, but are pretty superb.
I really do like a Premier Plus room, as I can pop down the shop and put my pepsi in the fridge to keep cool. After a night out a cold glass of water is so much nicer than the usual warm tap water too! They tend to put the Plus rooms on the higher up floors too for those of us who prefer a view, take away the £5/night for good wifi and it's definitely worth the money.
Stayed in a Plus room in Leicester last week. Worth the extra in my opinion. The coffee machine, aircon and fridge are great. Free wifi is also nice although the actual connectivity is as bad as in any Premier Inn. Room had the same artwork as yours.
a fridge can be very handy when staying in a hotel
Premier Inn used to be my go-to chain, but they've changed to a "dynamic pricing" model, and they're now very poor value for money. September 2021, me and some friends stayed at a Premier Inn at Cardiff, and my room was £59 a night, including breakfast, which I think is pretty good value. In October 2022, we went back to the same hotel, as it was well located for us, and the price had shot up to £93 a night. The original plan had been to stay in another Premier Inn in the Cotswolds on our journey home, but their branch at Chipping Norton cost a truly shocking £160 for a standard room!! We ended up getting a far, far nicer Mercure hotel which cost just £7 more than what I'd paid for a night in Cardiff! Until such time as Premier Inn lower their prices, I will be in no hurry to return. It's a shame really.
I think this has always been the case - I needed to stay in Dover in August 2015 and it was about £80 per night (much more than when I'd stayed there a few months before). Hotels in general, like everything, have also shot up a lot in price recently. I think Premier Inn is still better value than say a Travelodge, but it's definitely worth shopping around for other options.
I am an Iranian girl, walk with me in the nature of Iran. It's amazing, subscribe
We stayed in a Premier Inn hotel about ten years ago and it was only £19 a night we paid online. It was a special offer I think even £29 was quite good. But I noticed that some branches are more expensive than other.
If the beds are the same it's hardly worth it, the beds being the best thing about Premier Inn. An extra £20-30 for a posh coffee machine, a fridge and some extra seats and lights doesn't seem value for money to me if all you mainly plan to use the room for is to sleep.
To me it depends. If you’re going to arrive before 6pm and leave after 10am, then those extra comforts are worth it IMO, especially if you’re not planning on going out that evening.
If you’re arriving late and/or going out to eat/drink and then heading off first thing in the morning, then it probably isn’t worth the upgrade.
Similar principle to a train. £30 for a 1st class upgrade is a waste on a 45 minute journey, but a bargain on a 4 hour one.
good point but its nice to have something extra special
@@WalkWithMeTim I see where you're coming from, but if extra special is what you're after you wouldn't be in a Premier Inn to start with
Mood lighting is definitely worth the extra
@@puressenceuk35 As far as I understand wifi is free in the Premier rooms, you get a laptop table and a Seaview (OK you should be on the seaside for that)
I used to work for room service at the premier inn, it was actually alright!
I remember the ladies I worked with used to always use the coffee machines in the morning and they are actually pretty good ! (Plus who doesn’t love a bit of chocolate!)
lol
I saw a Premier Inn in Frankfurt, Germany. You should try this and see if it the same as you have come to expect in the UK.
Very nice like the fridge fresh milk or take back sandwiches to keep for another day
Having spent a night in each of three Manchester centre premiers i can say they were all very well up to standard and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Two of the nights were in disabled rooms which were cavernous. The only downside was previous occupents in one disabled room had left some really dubious stains on the inside of the curtains which they could easily have cleaned up themselves. (dirty buggers). Not easily spotted by quick turn around staff, but was cleaned immediately on reporting.
You should have water in the fridge still and sparkling and the kettle should have been a different type to the normal room kettle
Surely a kettle is a kettle? 🤔
@@Bungle2010 😂 yep a kettle is a kettle but I think they put a different style of kettle in as it’s a plus room the guest is paying more for the room which has supposedly fancy items/consumables in it than a standard room
My main gripe with Premier Inn is the dice roll on whether the bathroom has central extraction or whether it's a ridiculously loud extractor fan that sounds like it's trying to get a promotion to jet engine
I agree that the standard in a premier inn is pretty consistent, some are noisier and some could be more up to date but i guess for £35/night its a comfy bed
I've stayed at both premier inns and unfortunately the Travelodge in Weston in the past few months (my daughter is at uni there) I would definitely say the seafront one is the best, the other premier Inn is a close second but not as convenient. The Travelodge however was dirty, despite being fairly new, we practically had to beg for towels and there were homeless people being housed there, which would have been fine if they hadn't been staggering about drunk at 1pm and still getting served at the bar at 9pm as well as leaning against cars parked near the door while smoking interesting substances. So I would definitely stick to premier Inn!
When you mention Premier Inn vs Travelodge Tim, most Travel odge in England at least do not have wi-fi, at all, not even paiying ones. SYlvie in Québec, Canada.
In room fridges can be handy if I plan on staying more than 1 night/in the room for more than just sleeping, not sure if I’d pay extra though, in the past I’ve bought one of those small cheap fridges to hotels where one isn’t provided because I like a cold drink when travelling by car.
Somewhere to keep your beer, surely?
I really like Premier Inn, I know what to expect and I know the shower will be piping hot and the bed acceptable. I travel around Europe for work and so many hotels are sub par to Premier Inn standards
I always choose Premier Inn over Travelodges
same
I’ll be staying in one in London this year - it was only £30 extrs to upgrade to it for all 3 nights so thought we’d treat ourselves 😊 but I wouldn’t pay a load extra for it - standard rooms are very comfy
The dalek from the ceiling was exactly what you were talking about; it dispenses the fragrance.
We used to decorate the prem plus rooms and you definitely should have had a new kettle
You should have had 2 bottles of water in the fridge! It’s definitely handy though for sandwiches or cold drinks. I’m jealous you got a walk in shower rather than bath, the 2 premier plus rooms I’ve stayed in have been baths but still good of course. Also the white ‘thing’ near the ceiling in the corridor I’m pretty sure is the air freshener. The premier plus corridor does smell different to the regular ones
Very impressed with how clean everything is... it could be as it's all newly fitted as you pointed out but I would definitely pay an extra £20-30 to guarantee comfort and cleanliness. Great review as always Tim.
yes I think if u fancy having a treat its worth it
Cleanliness should be guaranteed anyway in my opinion
@@technov1deo I agree, but Tim's posts often prove this not to be the case.
@@WalkWithMeTimhi there! Check out the chessington hotel it’s worth it!
To be honest, never had a problem with cleanliness in a Premier Inn.
I like Premier Inns too, however the only bit i thought worked for me was the walk in shower. Excellent video as always.
Your mini fridge should have 2 still and 2 sparkling water just to say! :)
whattttttt I want a refund
Hi Tim that machine is pumping a scent out we have them at away resorts
Hi tim that was an excellent video and next time i will need to book into a Premier Plus Room looks so much nicer than a standard room.
its nice but worth the price , bed I the same
I stay in them for a living and the only thing going for them baring in mind I've only stayed in a premier plus room once is the fridge.
Bottles of water were missing in your fridge !! They should had been in there ! Very good review !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞
Had a premier plus room in Bournemouth (if you're ever staying try to get one of the sea view rooms, one of the best room views in Bournemouth)
Main plus of the premier plus room was the fridge, there is complimentary water in it, and if you run out you just ask for more at reception. Basically unlimited.
And was great to go to Tesco and get some cold drinks that I could then keep cold.
WiFi was also useful
The fridges are meant to come with two complimentary bottles of spring water, one still and one sparkling.
Brilliant video Tim them Premier Inn Plus Rooms definitely look amazing and I’d say there certainly worth paying a little extra for until your next video Tim carry on being awesome keep up the good work take care and stay safe
thanks Simon
These look really nice, they have taken out the bath and replaced it with a shower that's why the shower is roomy, also you need a fridge to keep items cool like milk or drinks so it's a great addition.
Does that mean we are getting a worst hotel review done in Weston Super Mare soon? Please say this is true.. it’s 20mins away from me!!!
Lol
@@WalkWithMeTim spoilt for choice in Weston 😂😂😂 quite easily do 10+ more videos in Weston..
Looks nice. Tim, can I give you a bit of constructive criticism please? Can you pan the camera a little more slowly? You're making me dizzy sometimes. You move the camera just a little too fast and also I have to watch you on close caption because I miss a lot of words you say because you talk kind of fast too. Sometimes. Thank you! 😂
I had two free bottles of water when I stayed in a Premier Plus room, and quite enjoyed it. I'll certainly stay in one again when I've got more time to kill at the hotel as they're more comfortable to work in and more relaxing generally... The fridge was a nice touch to chill a drink overnight and take out in the morning... Also if you take drinks up from the bar (as I do if I'm working in the room for a while) it's handy to keep them cool.
We stayed in a Premier Inn in Farringdon in London, I was well impressed with the room, the only thing we didn't have was the coffee machine. We had the family room, would definitely stay again. Totally agree about the bed sheets I was sweltering in the night, mind you it was August lol.... Great video Tim! 👍👍🙂
The air freshener thingy is made by Scent Air - they pump out a mist of fragrance. I use several of them and they're becoming more popular, not cheap though!
You can just buy plug ins or Glade or Air Wick fresh matic auto dispensers
Ive just booked to stay in one of these in lincoln. Im excited x
Looked really good but they could have put a bath in to really up their game. Some of us cannot use showers for med reasons. Nice review as always.
I think these rooms could be good for business travellers. The only thing that I haven't seen in standard Premier Inn rooms that I'd probably use is the fridge.
Fridges are really useful, especially in the summer - you can use it to chill drinks or store food safely, especially if you're trying to save money on meals out. I also have meditation that is better chilled and usually resort to making a DIY fridge when I stay in hotels.
I actually think all rooms should have one in!
I agree but what I’m interested in is how do you make a DIY fridge?
Business travelers will have expenses like meals out paid, fridges are more appreciated by the everyday leisure traveler who would like to save money
@@Blue.sk13s I only need to keep eye drops cool, so I put them in a cup/glass/mug (whatever's provided in the room) and fill the container with cold water. Then I take a couple of squares of toilet roll, fold them and put on top of the container so that both ends are in the water and the middle is exposed.
It's similar to how you keep milk cold when camping, except with a bucket and tea towel.
I can't remember the exact science behind why it works, but it does!
@@hd2000 I've stayed in hotels for work, sometimes you don't feel like eating out or have leftovers to keep cool or want to get lunch for the next day (which usually isn't expensable). You also might want to keep drinks cold on a hot day.
I agree that it's more useful for leisure travellers, but still useful for everyone.
@@Blue.sk13s cooler bag with ice packs.
Classical premier inn Schindler 3300 lift 😊
Primier plus rooms also have wider doors
How ironic I got a premier inn ad before this video
There are no shaver points in any of the Premier Inn's bathrooms or bedrooms, I use a plug in shaver and had to go out and buy an adapter. When I asked why this was at reception, they had no idea. Please correct me if you know something l don't.
so...pay £30 extra for a fridge and an espresso machine 🤣
I stay at the premier a lot, multiple times each year when I go home.
These are EXACTLY what I get for a standard room(they dont have premier plus in the city I use the premier)
I've spent a lot of time in Premier Inn's over the last 2 years for work, all within about an 8-10 mile radius of each other, and would definitely choose them over other hotel chains when they are available. I can see how the fridge could be handy if staying for a number of nights, as you could buy fresh milk, fruit juice etc from a nearby supermarket but I can't say anything else in that PLUS room would make an difference to me, especially as I'm out at work all day. They seem to have removed that sofa/bed/lounger thing that's normally pushed up against the wall. Not sure what it's for other than a good place to unpack a suitcase and thrown clothes on etc.
I am an Iranian girl, walk with me in the nature of Iran. It's amazing, subscribe❤
Have you ever heard of the Brooklyn hotel tim? They are similar to the premier inn plus rooms but shower room is bigger and the mirror when you’ve been in the shower a part will stay normal instead of misting up. I stay there a few times when I need a rest from the hospital
Nope I haven't I'm going to Google 😜
. it could be as it's all newly fitted as you pointed out but I would definitely pay an extra £20-30 to guarantee comfort and cleanliness. Great review as always Tim.
thanks
If there's a fridge they could have at least put a pint of actual milk in it. How long will those 4x small UHT cartons last? Very poor.
I would NEVER EVER stay in a hotel that didn't provide at least a fridge, or minibar in rooms.
How you can say they aren't important is beyond me.
The new Premier Inn rooms look nice, but at the end of the day it is STILL just a budget offering with no room service facility, no full bathrooms with bath to soak in.
Not sure if I would pay £30 more for thus.
As a New Yorker I have to say, awesome videos. With this one, did I blink and missed when you said the price? Lol I watched it twice and nothing. Just curious. 5:03
the price is always changing so I didn't mention
Tip for any hotel with the electric/room key thing. Any card from your wallet fits and works, so if it’s hot you can leave the air conditioning on and while you’re out of the room.
You were in the Ted Rogers room!
lol
@@WalkWithMeTim Showing my age now lol
Well i'm impressed with that room, looked lovely, only stayed in a Premier Inn once, that was in Eastbourne, thought it was good value, the only negative was not being able to open the room window, i heard it was like that in all Premier Inns, i'm afraid i like a slightly open window and fresh air at night.
I like a mini fridge in a hotel. When we travelled through the UK, we never got one with a mini fridge which comes standard with hotels in Australia. We never thought to check and the reason you want a mini fridge, it is nice to have a cold drink during the night or if you bought some food during the day that's need to be in a fridge or in my case insulin that needs to be in a fridge so these Premier Inn PLUS Room would be my pick just because of the fridge.
Yes, definitely a perk here in the UK. One tip if you need a fridge and the room doesn't have one is to ask at reception. Most hotels will have a fridge and sometimes a freezer that guests can use - they just ask you to have things labelled. It's obviously less convenient, because you have to ask at reception every time, but still useful to have.
The reason why the fridge says help yourself is because of covid they had to remove the few drinks they had in them
We normally stay at Premier Inn and are happy with the standard room. Maybe for a treat and more than one night I might splurge. With you on the comfy beds but also the warm duvets, had to chuck it off last time 🤣 Good to see what you do get for your money, thank you 😊
lol you are welcome , I dont think I will pay extra gain I found bed just the same a new premier inn
I have wondered what these are like when I’ve stayed in the newish PI at Great Yarmouth. There are some good points like the fridge, situated on the top floor and better toiletries. I spend so little time in the room I doubt for me it would be worth it. It’s a shame they didn’t do a super king bed but I suppose the room is a similar size to the normal rooms. Thanks for sharing and satisfying my curiosity 😊
Premier Inn room are not bad to start with. Good clean and same standard no matter where. I was given a Premier Plus room (free upgrade) at Heathrow T4. It was very nice. Fridge was specially appreciated to keep drinks and snacks cold. Sorry I’d take a fridge anyway over a coffee machine. And most would. If they have kids or babies or traveling by yourself. Apart from AC a fridge is probably the best addition to a room. And the Prem T4 had a Costa in the lobby so I could get a better coffee there anyway then I’d make.
Yes don't see the point of the fridge
@@WalkWithMeTim It keeps things cold 🙂I love when a hotel has a mini fridge, throw in that pre-dinner bottle of wine as a couple, or a few cold cans before you head out for the evening. Each to their own though. Great review.
@@robertnash1084 100%. And even if going back to room you can keep some nice chocolate or a sandwich (you pick up) for an evening treat. Or a cold drink overnight. And also that coffee machine, it’s much nicer having fresh milk than some long life UDT. 100% find a fridge handier
Looks Good.
Premiere Inn have lost their way as a budget brand, over 200 pounds a night now. You're spot on about the pillows, half the thickness at least required.
@simonsimon6612 I should have been clearer in my post as I was referring to London. Hastings is not on my radar, though 70 pounds for there sounds rather expensive.
That's a air fresh machine, let's out a nice smell 😉
There should have been water in your fridge.
I like the premier Inns. Usually nice and clean and you know what your getting. Air BnB can be hit and miss.
Fridges are quite useful for keeping costs down. If staying for a while you can pick up snacks that will keep for lunch or dinner meaning apart from breakfast you only have one paid meal out to pay for per day.
Also you get there ultimate WiFi which is £5 a day so it kind of pays for itself nearly
This step up in PI rooms would certainly make me more likely to choose them over a Holiday Inn Extra say, I do though like full-service hotels and in particular some of the rather quirky old coaching inns like The Bear at Woodstock, price is not always my first consideration either when booking a hotel.
