    • @Frozoken
      @Frozoken 6 місяців тому +11

      @@daviddesrosiers1946Ok but that's physically how the bus width correlates with the capacity. Each vram chip is 32 bits wide and 2GB of capacity. To get to 16GB you need 8 chips, 8x32 = 256 bit bus. The 4090 has 24GB of vram with its wider 384bit bus for this exact reason, there is no 16GB 384 bit memory bus. The only way you're choking bandwidth with higher vram capacity is the 4060ti 16GB route where they clamshell 8 chips together which forces 2 chips to run through each 32bits of memory bus leaving only 16 bits per chip but that's going lower not higher which is just like running 4 ram sticks in dual channel, ur just forcing 4 sticks through 2 channels.

    One thing, its AD103 chip, but sadly they kept the capacity of 48mb of L3 cache and did not increase it to 64mb like on RTX 4080, I guess it would be too close to vanilla 4080 if they did that. Otherwise great review.

      @@TheUltraMineboxMore cache is always better. The more often you're getting "cache hits" meaning the cores are pulling data from the cache rather than the memory the larger proportion of the time they're effectively running at a much higher ipc and this is mostly due to the access latency of the cache rather than the higher bandwidth. Even if it doesnt need more memory bandwidth, the gpu waiting on the 300ns of GDDR access time while it does about 3 clock cycles in a single nanosecond is a lot of wasted clock cycles everytime it has to wait on pulling data from the video memory. Hence more cache reduces how often this happens, in otherwords unlike vram bandwidth, when it comes to cache more is basically always better.

    One note on Lightroom Classic and GPUs. I don't know if the tests include the AI Denoise feature. It's one of the main reasons that I am pushing my PC upgrade through (learning blender is the other one). Currently still on a Strix 1080Ti. Batching raw files through the AI denoise (amazing feature for people who shoot high ISO a lot like me) it'll lock the GPU into 99% utilisation at a rate of about 1hr per 100 files. I often deliver 200-300 files per event. I try and batch things before I go to gym or bed, because can't do anything that uses the GPU during that time.
    Maybe it's a non issue on 3000 series GPUs, but mine is getting it's ass kicked hard.

      @@Alex-wg1mbTry to undervolt it for better power efficiency as its clocks have been pushed so high that it really hurts power efficiency. More obvious is the fact that the 4070super is equal in every way except the cores to the 70ti which the ti has 7% more of yet it's tdp is 30% higher. Why? Because the 4070 super did not have its clocks pushed crazy high like the 4070 ti and as a result just a small undervolt can reduce power by like 20-30% with no performance loss.

    So I've got a 7900xtx red devil and I'm pretty new to content creating. This maybe a dumb question but is a 4070ti Super good enough for creators, should I get a 4080 Super instead or should I just stick to my 7900xtx? To clarify I'm not looking to be a streamer. More video creating like reviews etc.
    I'm not looking to spend 2k on a 4090 though.

      @hjd9157 I've watched the review u mentioned and literally the only thing the 7900xtx excells vs Nvidia is Photoshop. Everything else Nvidia is better. So I'm bummed atm that I even bought the 7900xtx and I'm as we speak trying to sell or trade for a 4080 or a 4080 super with somebody that's more a gamer and could use some better performance in gaming unless they fully rely on Ray Tracing and DLSS3.

    Great Review !! as always TechNotice
    The is would be my fist GPU as a first time builder but I am still not 100% sure on which I will going for I am looking at Nvidia mainly because I am planning on doing so 3D workloads on my GPU and team green seems to be the best for this.
    The 4070 TI Super seems like an attractive buy at ~$800 USD but look at amazon selection it's really between $830-$860.
    I feel like if I can afford to save up and get the 4070 Ti Super since I already beyond decent price to performace budget GPU at below $600 selection, why not just go bigger since 800 isn't too far 1000 for the 4080 super with more performance head room.
    I feel like the 4070 TI Super is badly priced I feel like it should have be a $650-$700 MSRP
    I like AMD offering if I am planning on gaming and photo and video editing only and prices seem within reason:
    7800xt - $500-$570
    7900xt - $710-$760 which has 20GB VRAM
    Another thing is AMD power consumption is high, where I am location price per KWH is expensive. My power target for the GPU is 250-300 watts maximum and Nvidia excel in this area.
    Any opinions on this anyone?

      What would be the difference between 4080 and 4070 ti Super for 3d workloads? They both have 16gb vram but I'm not sure what role vram plays in 3d

    • @sunnyjd3354
      @sunnyjd3354 6 місяців тому

      @hpotter
      Yeah. the VRAM amount would be the same at 16GB however it would be faster. The 4080 Super would actually be in the 80 series, unlike the 4070 TI super that trying to be on paper.
      I am not happy that for $1000 the 4080 Super is still 16GB, it really should have been 20GB.
      Looking at the pricing $800 vs $1000 is not a huge difference when shopping at this price point.
      Waiting on the 4080 Super reviews on performance to see if the extra $200 would just be a waste or if there is a decent uplift.
