Ortigas Raymundo The band listened to the shipping forecast while they were touring America because it reminded them of home, and the tour was hell for them; constant fighting and drunkness on the stage. After this tour was when they got the idea of britpop.
I've just watched this and cried my eyes out. My friend and I were massive Blur fans back in the good old 90's. She has just passed away (so young!) this song will live with me forever! Damon's so beautiful too. Awesome Video. Thank you xxxx
12 years ago but same for me. My mate left us and we loved “to the end” which has a poignancy. All my love to you friend. It’s so hard losing your friends.
i love Damon's tired, humbled look at the very end of the song... Like he's a bit overwhelmed by it all, but in a happy way, that he and the others have created something as beautiful as 'This is a low.' And quite right, too. It's one of the most gorgeous rock songs ever.
Tremendous admiration for Damon. He's accomplished so much in his life. A great showman, actor and composer, I particularly love his music choices on the Danny Boyle films. A musical genius.
The best version of this song ever. One of the few gigs I wasn’t at. I caught them a few years later on the main stage and everywhere else! Phenomenal live band
We can be absolutely certain it's NOT lip synched. The whole thing is totally live. No, what we see here before our very eyes, is a band moving up from 'great' to 'untouchable'!
@broadband0118 don't you think after the Great escape it was all a sad decline? - who nowadays even remembers (let alone listens) to Think tank or their self titled album from 1997?
@@bezsonnja what does the rating on Spotify have anything to do with the quality of a song - after all just look at the phenomenally high listening ratings for songs by Tom Odell, Adele and Nickelback as a measure of poor taste !
@@revol148 you didn't mention quality of the songs in your previous comment. You said that no-one remembers or listens to S/T, I proved you wrong. And I think that S/T and 13 are great albums, but that's just a matter of one's musical taste.
@@bezsonnja ......oh so you don't think Worry bomb was an absolute masterpiece then? (yet strangely for some inexplicable reason they played nothing from it when I last saw them in the Olympic games closing gig in 2012). Look at spotify and report back......
just watched their 2009 performance of this song then this video and got really emotional. they look so overwhelmed here like it's just crashing in what's really about to happen. in 2009 damon cries before this song like he can't believe how lucky he is that he gets to come together with them again after 9 years of the band being apart, and he hides his face during graham's solo. it's all so messy and emotional. it's heartbreaking in the best sense to see how much he treasures seeing his friends making beautiful music by his side. also it's so crazy how music makes us feel so skinless in the very same way even though we don't know each other.
Interpretação perfeita. Ao mesmo tempo que reproduziu fielmente a versão de estúdio, conseguiu ainda acrescentar mais emoção. Sensacional essa música. Difícil ser melhor ao vivo do que o Blur foi nesse vídeo.
I went to Glastonbury 94 and chatted with Graham over tequila about sonic youth, yo la tengo and Victorian moustaches and if they will ever become a viable fashion accessory anytime soon, only took approximately 25 years for the latter, happy days.
He did with it been the last song of that years Glastonbury and I believe they took the rest of the year of so the last gig they did till the following year
I was there also. It was on the first night - a Friday. We realised it was so classic, we opted to go back to our tent straight after, knowing anything else wld be beyond compare, finishing on the perfect note for the evening. Sublime finish to a sublime set mainly from Parklife which had only just been released 2 months b4
He- and the band- are also pushing 50....how many people look as wonderful at 50 as at 27, or whatever--- you get my point.....I think they four of them look damned good for what they did to themselves- and after the decades of constant travel---restaurant food, etc. And they sound brilliant.
Ironic really, bloke starts indie, writes massive songs, worldwide recognition........and comments here are he has a pretty face, fuckable and got a delicious nose. Says it all really about todays younger music generation. Damons nose gets bigger they'll be off
+medbad5150 Twenty years ago we had Oasis, Pulp, Blur, Radiohead, The Verve, etc etc. and these poor kids live surrounded by stupidity, e.g. pewdipies, justin biebers, kardashians and taylor swifts. You can tell in 2 secs that they do not read and are stuck on their screens the whole time

medbad5150 so because he's attractive his fans are dumb? Jesus Christ. I love him for his incredible unique voice and consistently brilliant songs. Its not ironic at all, he just is attractive. think about gorillaz now he's making a new album at 48, I'm still listening even if hes old and wrinkly now.
medbad5150 well i liked him first time when he was cartoon and the fact he is bloody gorgeous in a real life is a bonus so i don't know what you're talking about
Oasis have been mentioned once below...so I will just say this song was champagne supernova before champagne supernova was cham.... well u. know what I mean!
I'm not disputing the fact that they LOOK good (although he is only 44), and yes they do sound brilliant, but just not close to this - it's not that they're bad now, they were just so good back then that they can't follow it any more, mainly because Damon can barely even string a sentence together after what he did to himself! It's an opinion, and coming from a fan, not intended in a rude way, just in sadness for what they've lost.
he's crying at the end. He cried when they played Glastonbury a few years ago as well. Means a lot to him 👍
Cj M indeed a very deep song though i wish i knew the meaning but then again i will just let blur’s lyrics stay mysterious.

That is sweat dripping from his brow my love
on a more serious note, graham's guitar solo gives me goosebumps.
Blur's best song, with little doubt. Only an English writer could come up with that gem.
@S Carter the Universal ?
@@revol148 apples and oranges, the songs have completely different moods
You cannot claim the best, most of their songs are really good and of great quality. It's just a matter of what you prefer at the moment

I always wished I was alive in the 90s I'm so sad. it seemed like such an AWESOME TIME to be alive.
Francesca Morosan it was mostly mullets and overalls. By which I mean it was glorious.
It was a totally awesome time and I would love to go back there!
It wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Just kidding it was fucking amazing, pity anyone who wasn't there.
It certainly was.
It really was.
damon is just beautiful just totally and utterly beautiful
This song is staggeringly good.
The perfect live version. Love how the organ is more upfront. That guitar solo is forever beautiful .
Damon has really pretty face
i see u everywhere
My favourite Blur-song. The organ at the beginning reminds me in Genesis of the 70th (excuse my english grammar.. writing from Germany).
I was thinking the same when i was it listen for first time
this song is so intimate it's quintessential.
Brilliant version, with a touch of genius at 4:08 when Albarn sings it an octave higher than he usually does!!
A song that is just as good if not better than the studio version.
My favourite blur song...a masterpiece 🙌
Damon is the best thing that happened to UK in 3 decades I think.
4:05 never fails to give me goosebumps
Same
so young, so cute, so low....
Sorry to correct you...it's solo. Don't worry I thought it was that too
I hope when I die I go back to the 90s forever. ❤️🎵🎶🎤🎸

Their best song, and one of the great British songs
Guitar God Graham :)
My favourite live performance of all time
I was there - looking in the opposite direction where there was an amazing, beautiful sunset!
My first ever Glastonbury, this was the highlight by a mile.

Really wish Damon sang 4:05 like that on the album version, sounds boss
Damon circa 1994 is the most beautiful man I ever saw or will see. Swoon!
Play this song loud on the morning of 13th when the tories get back in. :(
I went to Glastonbury watched this set and copped a favourite of Justine and a kiss. Then got drunk and stoned, happy memories
1994 was a great year for British music
This performance is absolutely brilliant. Thank you!!!
Gutted. I went to Glastonbury '94 and missed their set.

Lovin the Hammond sound!

SUPERB
Not sure why but I prefer this to Universal to end a gig
Cause it's got more emotional depth probably.
A very heartfelt song though i dont know the meaning of the lyrics still the whole song gives me that deep sadness and emptiness.
Me too. Happiness also though. Takes me back to a very very good place
this is epic

quintessential
Damon singing super exposed in this song
i was far to into oasis to be a big blur fan....one mistake i made in the 90s
the older i get the more i like blur...weird what beer does to you
Anyone know what type of Hammond organ Damon is playing?
DAMON SE VE BIEN PAPASITO AQUI ♥_♥
He sings SOOOO well in this one...are we sure it isn't lip synched? Very beautiful version.
he said the same thing at their set in '09

Wasn't this on the other stage, not the pyramid stage?
The shipping forecast for the UK tonight is a low.
The queens gone round the bend
