You really nailed the "creature in pain." thing of the corrupter, i always feel like I'm like, pouring hydrogen peroxide on a diseased animal whenever I fight one of these, like its a futile struggle that it long lost, and then you just have to put it down with a gun, this is a weird metaphor...
All of the rockpox has that feel to it tbh. You aren't fighting them you're just putting them down out of almost a mercy. "Not even the glyphids deserve this."
I will tell you one thing you are a master at making ominous things My favorite sounds are all the nemisis, caretaker and comms tower. They're all just so damn good
Sound design in DRG be like: " im gonna take any sound in the world and make it x100 creepier just because i can ! :D " thank you tho for the amazing sound design you produced over the years it's been such an honour to listen and enjoy every seconds of your work while playing ♥
Yay another one! I love these so much! I beg please please if you can, do caretaker if you can! I love the caretaker sounds a lot, the elk sound mostly. You can do filler spots with the other rivals as well! :D Thank you for making these! They're inspiring for sound designing!
That is such a crazy amalgamation of things. It's really cool seeing the behind the scenes of this sort of thing, because I otherwise would have no idea how much goes into a single sound effect. The bat sample really surprised me; I thought it was something like thick, metal cables vibrating/echoing. Incredibly well-done as always! You'll be missed! Rock & Stone!
i am really concerned about new enemies sounds in drg now. It will be so hard for anyone to have the quality and usefulness that you put in these (by usefulness i mean the fact that all sounds are so distinct and separate to each other that you can know exactly what bug is ahead and what it is doing). Rock and Stone, good luck in any future projects!
Holy shit when i first heared this thing i had *shivers* down my back, that's when you know you did an amazing fucking job with the sound design of harold let alone the entire of DRG
Oooh, I love it! Creature sound design is something I haven't nailed down yet, so watching so many animal sounds being mixed into such a complex sound is inspiring. Hoping to see more!
Legendary stuff!! DRG has some of my favourite creature sound design of any game, and this is no exception - so many interesting layers going on here, and all blended so masterfully. Love it, very inspiring :D
It's so amazing to see such a transparent, in-depth look behind the scenes here. Your work, and these videos, are amazing! If it wouldnt hurt to suggest, I was hoping if we could hear about the bulk detonator, the oppressor, or maybe some miscellaneous sounds exclusive to certain biomes (like the falling stalactites from the salt pits or the the sound of breaking terrain in the glacial strata) next. I wish you luck on your journey!
You may need to change the description a little as it still lists "Glyphid Stingtail" instead of "Lithophage Corruptor". As for the actual video, I love seeing everything that has gone into the sound design of this particular enemy. There's so much rich layering with distinct highs and lows. From even one second in-game, I can tell a Lithophage Corruptor is in the mission. You did a wonderful job with this creature, as well as the rest of the game.
This enemy has the best sound of any enemy in the game imo, you are so good at your job! Sad to see you are leaving gsg but I know you will find success ahead.
It’s really cool to me that after you broke down all the sounds to an individual level and played them for a second time all together I could hear how they all work. -Anyways amazing audio, great job! ❤
Another great video Troels! Would you be interested of doing a deep dive sound design interview on the sounds of DRG? I have been thinking of doing audio behind the scenes interviews for my channel for quite some time now.
Sure. Drop me an email and let’s talk. I can’t post it here, my message will be removed if I do. But I’m sure you will find it :) if not, write here again
Yup. No idea why. The community just seems to have decided to name this guy Harold for whatever reason, and it seems to have all happened in around a day or so.
@@jonathannash8471Yeah, it was almost immediate. People were calling it Harold before we even knew what it looked like. All we had was a vague silhouette in the background of a teaser image.
Hi! Thanks a lot for the kind words! There is no specific band that I am directly inspired by. I guess the only one would be kraftwerk. But other than that it's more the sound of an era that I tried to put into the music. And that is indeed the sound of early prog rock, but also early techno (kraftwerks computerworld and man-achine) and early john carpenter stuff. That whole late 70s early 80s aesthetic is what I was going for. The sound of tape. The sound of dust and old memories, but also mixed with more modern sounding stuff. Thanks again, and feel free to check out the videos I did about the music:) I have a couple of them on my channel
@@trjaudio I checked all your videos out so far ❤️ I can't wait to see more from you c: also you make great content, I hope eventually this channel can pick up too, you deserve the recognition for your work❤️ thank you again for responding to both comments, I won't be able to not talk about this for weeks, you genuinely made my year ❤️
Can’t believe you decided to stop working on DRG :( Hope you’ll find success and maybe, one day, you’ll come back, like a god descending from heaven to bless us with your talent.
Hi, i am currently a french student in sound and wish to specialise in sound design, do you have any advice to work in that field or what i could do in internships in sound design? I will start my second year in a few days but what the job is about is still pretty foggy for me and i really wish to learn. Also, i wish you great times in your career up ahead !
I won’t lie. Working with anything audio related is tough. Tough in the sense that it is hard to get a job that can support you financially. I would find a list of all the games that are being developed in France and start calling/writing each one, to see if they need an intern. Also join Facebook/linked in groups for making games and see if you can find anyone who you can contact. Best of luck:)

Always enjoyed the scoff of the Hiveguard, just this massive being laughing at you as attempt to survive.

Incredible work

A really fascinating mob in this game for sure, but MAN the sound design and thought behind it was just on another level, really well done!

This is awesome! Your work in the game is phenomenal. All of the creature sounds are fantastically unique
That chirping sound it does while suffering remembers me both of a flock of small birds and Yma Sumac's songs.
finally. harold voice reveal
I really want to know how more of these scary creepy bug noises get made, or the non scary creepy
Legend did not disappoint. Again!
Much love, friend
this thing's noises are nightmare fuel, extremely well done

Google around for free sound libraries. Find audio software (reaper or others) and start mangling away:)
