This is the most comprehensive tutorial I've watched on smooth cut outs. It's clear, concise, and the trainer shows how to use the various cut out tools going from simple examples to harder ones such as a real life person. I learn't so many techniques in just this one tutorial!
Creating smooth cut outs have my nemesis for years. It's going to take me a little time to get comfortable with all the steps, but this lesson has been one of the very best that I've watched.
Jesús, I am subbed to quite a number of youtube channels. Your channel is the only one that I have enabled notifications for. Your content is always on point and I have learned pretty much everything I know on photoshop from your channel. Thank you so much for the hard work you put into these. I am sure I am not the only person who appreciates your work!
Wow, this is 1 tutorial I may have to watch multiple times and as always practice, practice, practice & when I think I've got it practice some more to ensure I was right. You can never practice too much. Thank you for your patience in making these tutorials & keeping them at a price [free] us pensioners can afford Photoshop is a hobby tool for me not a business tool as it maybe for others.
I've heard of all this and I've seen other tutorials do it howeve, you took your time and explained it well so I can better understand it which is the important thing I think in a tutorial. I appreciate it thank you very much. I learned quite a bit from this tutorial.
This is the first I've seen selections using vector masks. This is awesome and it appears to be a time saver. Thanks for adding another selection technique to my arsenal.
Damn, just spent hours digging UA-cam to find those informations. You are the most straightforward with clear explanations out of all the other UA-camrs I've seen, thank you so much
I didn't know about some of these techniques and processes. I've been struggling for some time with difficult selections of different sorts, and this tutorial will make life a LOT easier. Thank you for making this tutorial, what I learned from it will be extremely useful in the future! I've bookmarked it for future reference.
In the beginning, after LimeWire worked, I used CS-3. Get this, the 'Polygonal Lasso" to cut out rounded objects. I couldn't understand what the 'pentool' was doing with all those Default shapes and crap so I increased the file size huge. I found a Tutorial by Mellissa Evans and it all began to make Sense. The Defaults were the problem. The first Useful page that got me Free from ignorance and my art all over the Earth. 3dmacphee 3dfantasys
I didn't know that. OMG! i learn so much from your training channel. I hope your channel will always be here. I have a hard time sometimes. it takes me a few times to get it right. when I'm work and need to do something i always refer to your channel and I accomplish my project. You have no idea how much I appreciate your teachings. Ps. thank you Terrence Donald
I have been using Photoshop for 10 years (and watching your tutorials a good part of that time) and I never knew how to create a vector mask from a selection. Thank you so much for this! I will be using it frequently.
I really wasn't able to get a teacher in my whole city, I was tired of finding a good teacher for Photoshop, but finally you appeared, Thanks you and Thankyou UA-cam for letting me know about Mr. Ramirez's channel.
Holy smokes! I could not agree more ! I have never been trained except for the Alphabet in anything worth while. Self taught after that but it only can take you so far. Wait... I had a few good teachers but I was just a kid. It didn't help that I was up all night studying and building radios and things on my own and yakking it up on Ham Radio all over the World. Now We have Mr. Ramirez's channel. As a Second thought about learning general knowledge about Science and other cool stuff, I have to put in a Mention of Joe Scott, another UA-camr that does his best to make learning fun. And trust me, Photoshop is fun and Addictive as heck when you get the hang of it!
Very new to Photoshop and have watched MANY videos about background removal and I was never happy with the results. This tutorial is amazing, for the first time I am over the moon with the result! Thanks so much!
Nice tutorial Jesús! Combining Masks is a great subject and the Pen Tool are always good to cover. The mention of TO MANY POINTS for a selection is important. Can't tell you how many times I've seen this! Really bogs down a files performance. Keep up the good work. Always appreciated!
This is amazing way to edit a human figure. Vector mask is new to me. I will definitely work using these techniques as soon as I hit my desk Monday morning!
Yes, I knew that you can make a path out of a selection. But what you've been able to teach me is that the Alt (or Ctrl) key is the magic key for hidden or alternative options. THANKS! I always thought I already knew most of the tricks in Photoschop. But then ... I found your Videos. Great Job Jesús ;)
No, I didn’t realize the vector mask was available for every selection you choose to make. Awesome!! I will be using this so cutouts will be smooth and not pixelated. Thank you!
Okay, I've just tried it again after giving myself time to absorb what you're teaching. I have to remove backgrounds from different machines built for roofing and civil engineering. Loads of different shapes and edges to smooth. This is by far the most effective and intuitive lesson I have ever had. I am a complete beginner, yes I've had Photoshop for about five years. But I never understood how to use it until now (and then I'm only learning about vectors) from you. Thank you for relieving me of this burden of feeling inadequate! I will watch over and over until I've mastered the techniques properly.
Hi this is Goose with Dreadnought Photo Werkz. I have finally found a place to help me with my Photoshop skills. I will be watching as many of these videos and studying the techniques as I can to help my work flow. Thanks for the lessons!!!!!!!!!
Agree big time s0methingelse. Finally a leisurely step by step tutorial that gives you time to see all the steps/clicks on the menu. I also liked the zoomed in and highlighted red outlined buttons on the menu. Very clear and easy to see. Wish I had seen this video months ago!!! Jumping right in to to these out. Tks yr a star. Subscribed immediately.
Fantastic tips. I have been extensively using Photoshop and the selection tool therein but I never knew about Vector Mask and how easy it was to reveal the hair. Great video 👍
Thanks. I've been using Photoshop since CS3. But I've never converted a vector mask to a selection in some of the manners you demonstrated. Excellent. Thanks again!
Hi Jesus, Jose from Puerto Rico. I really enjoyed this tutorial. I have no problem with the pen tool, but I never thought you can use it the way you taught it here. You gave me a new secret weapon in the extensive Photoshop arsenal to play with. I shied away from selecting people with the pen tool, but the way you used it on the female jogger was really cool.
Terrific tips! I did not know a lot about vector masks but your tutorial made it very clear how helpful these will be. I'll definitely be using these techniques in the near future.
Wow! Great tutorial - I love how you walk completely through the technique, not assuming that someone (like me) knows the name of the tool or what does, and then explaining the thing's purpose and the concept as you go along. Extremely helpful and great teaching style - can't wait to binge watch more of your tutorials!
I learned so much in this tutorial. Especially how to make vector masks. I've spent a lot more time drawing paths with the pen tools. The methods you showed are so much quicker and accurate; and showing the methods using Adobe Photoshop CC, the apps that I have. Thank you.
I've been Photoshopping since Photoshop 4.5 and you STILL learn stuff every day. The only trouble I have (at MY age!) is remembering the bloody stuff!! ;-)
Very useful tips! I do have to rewatch it at least 4-5 times to really understand some of the things you, but that's probably because I'm a not familiar with all the tools and I have to find them first. So that's on me
Wow sir. You are really tallented. The tallent you have got and you shared with us.❤️ Really sir you are amazing. This is the best tutorial I've ever seen. I'm going to forget about the select and mask and will use this freature to remove the background in future work.
Jesus, your tutorial has saved me an incredible amount of time. I am new to Photoshop and I have been struggling with selections that are accurate and smooth. Thank you so much!

Photoshop is a hobby tool for me not a business tool as it maybe for others.
You're welcome, Tony! I'm glad you enjoy them!
I like the slowness and clarity of your instruction. As a beginner, it is extremely helpful.
Another brilliant tutorial Jesús. I've always disregarded vector masks as in Illustrator type of thing, so this was a real eye-opener for me. Thanks!
You're welcome, Ed!
I've been using Photoshop for ten years and didn't know this about Vector masks. Great tutorial. Thank you.
You're welcome, David!
I've heard of all this and I've seen other tutorials do it howeve, you took your time and explained it well so I can better understand it which is the important thing I think in a tutorial.
