My take: Google Assistant was free for so long people have assumed that it will always be free, but now branding it as Gemini they can sell is as a new product and then create a "Gemini Plus" plan to charge people for features just like they're doing for an advanced model (aka Gemini Advanced) on web.

It’s a bit like storage on your phone , I prefer to just use my on phone storage , google often prompts me to turn on google cloud and upgrade storage for only so many dollars per month , yesterday i got the prompt and it would not close the prompt screen until I turned on the cloud button, I got around it by shutting the phone down with the power button and the volume button.
This sort of crap I don’t need , getting another pixel is looking unlikely.

@@mikldude9376 i have not encountered this scenario. and i have tried checking online, it says it is only optional. the only cloud service i know in my pixel is the google drive. please correct me if im missing something.
Google Assistant is the best in the game. I say integrate with Gemini, not get rid of it.
They're really missing the oppurtunity to do the Apple thing and calling it "Alphabet Intelligence"
Google has already had "android system intelligence" which handles certain AI features for years before apple.

@QuellTheHeresy just check wheb ML (machine learning) released in Apple devices.. all of that are also an AI, just not called to AI, but they put the NPU to the chip for that before anybody else, Apple first used the NPU in the A11 in 2017.. (it just called to nerual engine, but had the same 16 core NPU just like their current phones.. but Google only focused on NPU about 4 years later with their Google Tensor G1 chip..)

I feel the way google is baking ai features like circle to search into general android software is to make sure they are the "staple" again in your go to search going forward just as they were before all of these search engines popped up. So "giving it away" to them is buying market share with new ways to search utilizing ai.
I've heard "alibi generator".
Circle to search is about the single best feature google has launched in awhile.

I really like circle to search, but honestly I completely forget to use it.
I use it all of the time. It's my most used AI feature on my Galaxy phone.
@@wukwinn I find myself seeing something then just muscle memory is to immediately open universal search on my pixel and just glide type instead of circle to search, but it's definitely better than just Google lens.
You’ll have to pay for Samsung AI services like circle to search lol, I think it’s free until 2025
I use circle to search ALL THE TIME. I also use the text translator button once I see something like a picture or post that's not in English with that same feature on my Pixel.

I think the group photo thing is as simple as possible, you take a photo of 4 people (excluding you), then you go back in the huddle and let another person take a photo of 4 people (including you), and then the ai recognizes that and says "hey, we can add you both in one photo". I just had the task of doing that manually (i used snapseed double exposure to varying degrees of success), so that being automatic could be pretty cool. The moment still kinda existed, it was just the tech or your gear that prevented you from capturing it at the same exact time, but maybe 10 seconds apart. Not creepy for me, at least not if it's photos taken at the same minute in time, at the same place. I don't think it'll work with photos taken anywhere else in time and place.
Think about it, wouldn't you rather have a single group photo of all of you, than two photos with one person missing in each? even though they were taken only 10 seconds apart, but at the same place and in the same overall moment?
Yes, there was an app called Groupic that did this many years ago.
Group shot, you take a picture, switch with someone in the photo and then go and stand on the edge of the group, and where the other person was there will be a space. All the pixel has to do is "best take" the photo in half, and you have everyone in the photo, really easy, no AI required other than stitching the 2 halves together.

I think the screen in the screenshot shown is gonna go into the Pixel Tips app in pixel devices where most of the features are listed with details and instructions
I wish they start doing more useful things with AI. How about audio and image enhancement? or camera zoom, or better night time photography?

@@Cargo_Bay I'm a seasoned pixel fan. I've had every XL+Pro model since the original (minus the 8). I even own a Pixel tablet thanks to winning it through a Google Pixel superfan contest.
However, I also know tensor is a 7/10 processor due to it being an Exynos chip. Exynos has always (even for Samsung phones) trailed behind the competition in performance, power efficiency, and thermals. This is why Google decided to move to TSMC, to provide a better pixel experience for the 10 Series. Even Intel uses TSMC fabs to produce some of their chips.
So yeah, I'm skipping the 9 series. Gonna use my Pixel 7 Pro and Galaxy S24+ for another year.
Even farms are getting into AI. The McDonald farm recently unveiled their AI: AI-O
Im not sure if this has been rolled out to other phoend but on my pixel 6a, a couple weeks ago already, google assistant asked if i want to swap entitely to gemini

im still confused what is Ai really doing. Other that in a work enviremtent, what does it do for the mass. It all seem like creepy photos and music stealing. Like I want it to replace google assistant and give me better answers on Google Home, phone. I want Ai to operate on my PC to make it more efficient , talk to it like have a conversation. I do not really understand why we need it, if all it does it make picutes and music and writes a paragraph.
AI just covering the fact the rapid improvements in other directions are basically stagnant, just a 10% year over year performance gain is a great success compared to the doubled performance in every year a decade ago.. those tiny phones are basically nearly equivalent with a laptop, so they can't put too much things inside (just check the benchmark results of the 4 years old M1 Macbook chip what demolished all other laptop chip on the market and the A17 or the upcoming A18 chip, it's oretty close in performance not just in CPU but GPU wise too, and the power consumption is downed from 20W to 5W for that.. so there are a limit what they can put inside the phone, if it has everythig, they need a new thing what can grab the highlight, and this is the AI currently, with enough AI feature inside the phone people will forget to ask, but why it's just barely stronger like my 2 years old phone...
Is the "include me" feature a way for everyone in the group photo to get a copy sent to their account based on facial recognition?

I'm guessing "add me" puts you in a photo when you're behind the camera. Gets rid of the need to selfie
Yes , I often get the “ do you want to replace google assistant with Gemini prompts “ on my 8 pro , then it goes on to say some google assistant features will no longer work.
So the answer from me is stick Gemini where the sun don’t shine !
Being 100 % honest , a lot of the AI stuff I don’t think I could be bothered rooting around with.
I really just want the phone to do all the usual phone things without stuffing up , I’d like voice commands to work correctly the first time .
I’ve been using the voice dictation more because I have large hands and keyboard on smart phones still suck to use more often than not.
The AI dictation is getting better , but still in a paragraph there’s often 4 or 5 words I have to go back and fix the typos.
Using some of the google magic camera features often still seems hit and miss , and still quite fiddly to to use .
Meh , as an average dude with an iPhone and a pixel ….. so far the limited AI stuff appears often to be more effort than it worth .
If Google uses any of those features to collect data for personalized ads, that would be very creepy.

Honestly, I feel the "Add Me" feature sounds good but scares me at the same time. Imagine ur friend wants to be in the photo just to show off to his girl, another scenario would be adding a friend without his knowledge and sharing it in SM, his girl/wife getting suspicious. I might be wrong but this is possible.
Google not using the Google Assistant branding and moving to Gemini is still crazy to me.

Been watching you videos for a while now. Great job. I recently sent samsung ceo an email of my dissatisfaction of the product release of z fold 6. I have been a loyal customer since note 4. Samsung has always just about offered fairly decent trade offers for people to stay product line up they are with so there isn't a big of loss in value upgrading. I noticed you didn't seem i.pressed over all with the latest release as well. I'd love if content creators united together with a threat to some of these companies threatening to refuse to do product reviews of products being released with little to no improvements. It's feel dis respectful to us that have been loyal to thier products and that we as a community are being taken advantage of. Just a thought I wanted to shared.

Google photos can recognize who you are so maybe because "you have the best camera with the pixel and you'll be taking the photo" that you can add yourself. At least that's how I would market it.
I think Andrew is Using S24 , For him , not need to remember home screen layout or Folder setup , just backup data to Samsung cloud , every time you setup a new device or something goes missing you can restore everything

All I want from my Pixel is for them to stop cropping the photos I set to home and lock screen lol cherry on top, an app that can rework the resolution of pictures to look better on the sharp screen and not needing to find 4k images to have good looking screens
Those features should be just be just Pixel Feature Drops as they currently are. What's, we already have Pixel Tips that informs the user about the new, smart features that appear in the apps. There's even a button to go that particular app. No need to create another artificial name for that.

I like their features a lot, but i hope they dont make too much unnecessary features, but rather focus producing their own tensor chips, cause right now its just a weaker version of Exynos and even in some test Exynos isnt really that good compared to other chip right now

Photoshopping yourself into a group photo is already weird. Normalising it by making it a click away in everyone's camera app is weirder and potentially problematic
Google assistant was perfect on android 10, it worked perfectly, it didn't take ages to do anything, it didn't ask to unlock your phone, it just worked, i could be driving on the motorway and ask it to do anything and it would just work, now it's dangerous because its just an awful distraction trying to get ot to do anything.
google is good for some stuff, and Gemini is good for other stuff. There should be some excellent instructions, on its full capabilities.

I’m like David but so much worse. I hate direct sunlight, I’ll burn walking to the car and back on a clear day. I just got back from the beach and my legs were in the shade 90% of the time unless I was walking between the umbrella and the dirty-ass water, still burned so bad it looked like I literally got pan seared. Like frying pan straight off the stove into my legs. Deadpool from the knees down, it was bad.

Honestly, I'm tired of all the "AI" integration already. Anything I have used that has it is just more inconvenient to use now. And none of it is real AI to begin with. Just a buzz word used with simple yet somehow worse machine learning.

I watch this channel for Marques because he adds insight and potential context to the subject. The other two bozos seem to complain and not add any real value or logic. Continuing to say "creepy" or complaining because Google is adding new AI features or figuring out this AI revolution with Gemini for basic users is useless for the conversation. It's really hard to watch all the way through. The channel is better off without them.

The majority of ai stuff Google talks about I've had on my 7. Stuff like studio and magic eraser I've done on my 7. Why does Google advertise this as if it's a new feature?
I have two toddlers and a baby. AI is the only reason I have pictures of everyone together.

I mean why is it creepy when all these features can be turned off... Imagine you take a picture of your group and you wanna be in it so you then take a photo of yourself (same background) and then they ask if you wanna stitch the two pics together....I mean I find that very helpful

To be honest. As a programmer I'm bored by the ads and announcment about AI stuff. And it's getting annoying. Almost everything that is adverticed was there since years. And now it's a selling point for new stuff without adding anything that is actually new.

Aren't you guy's (as in Americans) the biggest fans of Snapchat my guess is that this photo adding thing will be way simpler than you imagine, 2 photos, and the first will be a filter for the second so that you can tell the person missing in the first were to place itself so that it doesn't bomb anyone in the first then the magical button to stitch them and bam there you have it

I think some time ago Samsung said there would be a charge , and there was a mention that after a year or 2 of use Apple may charge for AI function , but that was a rumour I think.
No doubt google will be figuring out a way to make $$$$$ with it too.
